6: Chapter 6 Inside the Cave
Walking to the entrance, he caught sight of a figure wearing a bamboo hat standing in the shadows and immediately hurried forward, his face breaking into a fawning smile.
"Big Brother, the matter has been taken care of."
The Man in Bamboo Hat nodded slightly, his low voice sounding out: "How is the progress?"
"Very smooth!"
The Thin Man could not hide his excitement, his tone rising a few notches, "We recruited a full thirty people!"
Hearing this number, a glimmer of approval flashed in the eyes of the Man in Bamboo Hat: "Well done."
"Hehe! It's all thanks to the brilliant method you came up with, Big Brother!"
The Thin Man waved his hands hurriedly, his tone full of admiration.
"Compared to the clumsy method of collecting protection fees before, this new strategy is truly much smarter."
As soon as he finished speaking, a burst of hurried footsteps came from the distance.
Three people approached side by side, and the fatty walking in front was full of joy, waving his arms from far away as he shouted.
"Big Brother! We're back!"
The Mohawk Man beside him curled the corners of his mouth, his eyes showing a touch of smugness.
Meanwhile, the man with the crew cut beside him looked calm, as if everything before him had nothing to do with him.
"Yo, Fatty, look at how happy you are; you must have had a good harvest this time, right?"
The Thin Man leaned forward and teased.
The fatty slapped his round belly and laughed loudly: "Of course! Recruited over forty newcomers!"
"I'm not bad either, I recruited over thirty."
The Mohawk Man chimed in, unwilling to be outdone.
The Crew-cut Man said in a flat tone: "I only recruited a dozen or so; the few Mine Caves I went to were all taken by Lang Xiao and his group first."
The Man in Bamboo Hat's expression did not change, and his tone was indifferent: "No matter, those few Mine Caves were their territory to begin with, so it was within expectations that they would be taken first."
Changing the subject, he frowned slightly, his expression becoming serious, "Lang Xiao's group acts ruthlessly; the fact that we have been at peace for the past ten years is only because he is wary of me."
"But I heard they have been secretly preparing recently, so we must raise our vigilance."
He paused and ordered, "Just in case, you all must work hard again and transfer all the newly recruited Miners to our Mine Cave."
"Alright!"
The four of them responded in unison. The fatty was exceptionally agile, taking the first step.
"Don't worry, Big Brother, not a single one will be missing!"
The Mohawk Man tossed his signature hairstyle and hurried to catch up.
"Leave it to me!"
The Crew-cut Man just nodded silently and walked toward the target with steady steps.
Seeing this, the Thin Man hurriedly chased after them: "I'll go too; having more hands will be safer."
At this moment, Yun Song was completely unaware of everything happening outside the cave.
He was staring intently at the Spirit Stone he had just dug up, muttering with a mix of joy and resentment.
Carefully putting away the Spirit Stone, he buried his head and continued mining.
Although he had mastered the basic methods of mining, compared to the previous Thin Man, he was far behind in terms of strength, technique, and proficiency.
After a day, he could barely dig up a dozen Spirit Stones, and his whole body was aching with fatigue.
Yun Song stayed in the Mine Cave for ten days; the Thin Man never appeared again, and the days of mining were relatively peaceful.
It was just that recently, for some reason, there were many more people in the Mine Cave wearing tiger-head wooden plates.
"Oh no! Two factions are fighting at the entrance of the cave!"
Yun Song, who was swinging his mining hoe, stopped abruptly, and the surrounding Miners also raised their heads one after another; the sound of mining that had been rising and falling suddenly disappeared.
A Miner ran in with a panicked expression, his voice trembling.
"Quick! Someone is causing trouble at the entrance, and they are already fighting!"
A trace of doubt flashed in Yun Song's eyes, and his curiosity was completely piqued.
He quickly put away his mining hoe and night pearl, and followed the crowd toward the entrance.
