82: Channel collapse

Although he didn't get the progenitor virus this time, Li An was already very happy to find clues about it.

He had almost given up hope at first!

As for now, things were quite simple. All Li An had to do was quickly withdraw from this area before the Zombies completely flooded in.

Li An was truly fed up with ordinary Zombies; he couldn't gain any attribute points by absorbing them and they only caused him a lot of trouble.

After its previous evolution, the Magic Spirit Dog, like the Harvester, could no longer gain evolution points from ordinary Zombies or Zombie Dogs. Only elite monsters like the Licker could provide evolution points for both of them.

But the problem was that the number of Lickers in the Hive was not large, and Li An had no way to make Zombies devour each other to evolve. Besides, even if he had a way, he wouldn't dare to do it, as there was a risk of things getting out of control.

Therefore, after the Harvester and the Magic Spirit Dog reached the limit of their first evolution, they had not improved further. They only occasionally encountered Lickers, which allowed them to gain some evolution points, but this amount was far from enough for both of them to complete a second evolution.

So, facing the encirclement of countless Zombies, Li An's primary thought was to avoid, not to confront!

After finding clues about the progenitor virus, Li An immediately strode out of the laboratory. However, at the corner of the other end of the passage, Zombies were already surging towards him at a not-so-slow pace.

Seeing this scene.

Li An glanced at the Harvester and the Magic Spirit Dog standing behind him. Their current position was at the end of this passage; there was no way back, it was a dead end!

Now, if they wanted to break through, there were only two paths. One was to directly fight their way out, using their formidable strength to crush the Zombie horde. As for how many meters they could advance through the Zombie horde, whether they could shake off the Zombies, etc.

The outcome was unknown; no one could predict it.

Clearly, Li An didn't want to take this path, so he immediately gave orders to the Harvester and the Magic Spirit Dog.

"Stop them."

The moment his words fell, Li An immediately looked up at the ceiling above. He chose to take the second path!

If there was no road, he would create one himself!

During his one to two months in the Hive, while searching for clues about the progenitor virus, Li An also unexpectedly found the Hive's architectural blueprints. With Li An's intelligence attribute, he had almost reached the point of photographic memory, and he quickly memorized the internal structural information of the Hive.

Now that he was blocked here, to avoid unnecessary combat, he immediately prepared to break through the wall above and escape upwards.

As for why he didn't choose the adjacent walls, he naturally didn't want to be continuously chased by the Zombies that would follow him after breaking through a wall.

And so.

The next second.

As Li An's command was given, the Harvester and the Magic Spirit Dog immediately darted out, one after the other. The two, one human and one beast, could fight side-by-side in such a narrow passage, blocking the Zombies attempting to break through.

Boom!

Seeing that the Harvester and the Magic Spirit Dog had already moved, Li An also immediately began to act. He continuously struck the concrete wall above with his fists, causing a constant rumbling sound.

In front of Li An's immense strength, although the concrete wall was hard, it was quickly battered and pitted by him, with countless broken stones falling from above.

To this day.

Li An's physical strength had long been digitized. With D+ level physical strength, combined with a strength attribute of one hundred and seventy-three points, every punch from Li An was incredibly powerful. Although the Hive's construction was extremely sturdy, it couldn't withstand Li An's relentless pounding.

In just a few breaths, Li An heard a hollow sound.

He was about to break through!

On the other side!

While Li An was vigorously smashing the wall, the Harvester was also diligently cooperating with the Magic Spirit Dog to block the surging Zombies.

Because of the Harvester's massive body, he stood directly in the center of the passage, almost like a natural meat shield and iron wall. He only needed to extend his hands to directly crush the heads of several Zombies.

The Magic Spirit Dog, on the other hand, focused on mobility. It constantly moved around the Harvester, clearing Zombies that the Harvester couldn't reach, and also pouncing on some seemingly more threatening Zombies.

At this moment, on the surface, the situation seemed to be excellent.

But the reality was that the number of Zombies was truly too vast. Even though the Harvester had activated its 'Predation' and 'Hunting Ground' abilities, in the face of such a massive horde of Zombies, he couldn't help but be pushed back.

That's right!

While the Harvester was constantly slaughtering Zombies, he was also continuously pushed back by the enormous Zombie horde. Even if the Harvester tried desperately to stop himself, he couldn't, and could only passively be pushed backward.

The Magic Spirit Dog was even more helpless. It could only pounce on Zombies one after another. In terms of killing efficiency, it was no match for the Harvester. Even though it had used its body to try and stop them, it was still like an ant trying to shake a tree, negligible!

Roar!

Awoo!

At this moment, not only were Zombies dying, but large chunks of flesh were torn from the Harvester's body, ripped and flung about by the Zombies. The Magic Spirit Dog was even more gruesome; one of its hind legs was directly bitten off by some Zombie.

Yet, despite this, the two, one human and one beast, continued to stubbornly block the approaching Zombie horde, buying time for Li An.

Finally, when the Zombie horde was only about ten meters from Li An, with Li An's last punch, a thud echoed from above, and the wall was smashed open!

However, the next second, Li An's face showed no smile; instead, it became solemn. And at this moment, Li An suddenly leaped up, unhesitatingly rushing upwards.

Rumble!

The very next second after Li An leaped to the upper level, the wall above the passage suddenly collapsed downwards, and large chunks of rubble directly crashed into the passage.

Just as the falling rubble was about to hit the Harvester and the Magic Spirit Dog, a pair of large hands suddenly reached down from above, grabbing the Harvester's shoulder and the Magic Spirit Dog's neck respectively. Then, pulling them back, he immediately dragged both of them out of the collapsing passage.

Phew~

After pulling the Harvester and the Magic Spirit Dog out of the passage, Li An breathed a long sigh of relief. Only then did he release his hands. He hadn't expected that simply smashing through the floor would cause such a large-scale passage collapse.

Li An gazed deeply at the Zombie horde buried under the rubble, and couldn't help but feel a lingering fear.

If he hadn't reacted quickly just now, he might have been crushed underneath. Although he might not have died, injury would have been inevitable.
