60: Refining [Spiritual Awakening Potion]
The next morning.
After Ron woke up, he did as he always did.
After washing up, he went to the kitchen and made a simple breakfast.
By the time he brought out the sandwiches, oatmeal, and hot milk,
Lisa also emerged, still sleepy-eyed, and greeted Ron.
"Good morning, Big Brother Ron."
Ron returned the greeting, but then asked, a little strangely,
"Lisa, is Litton still not awake?"
Before, Litton was always the first to wake up, then he would go wake Lisa.
But today, Litton had uncharacteristically overslept?
Lisa looked a bit bewildered at this, shaking her head and saying,
"Lisa doesn't know. Daddy didn't come wake me up today."
Hearing this, Ron looked thoughtfully towards the main house.
He recalled the information about Doctor Gavin from last night, and immediately understood.
So, Ron smiled slightly.
"Then Lisa, you eat first. Litton might have been too tired yesterday and needs to rest a little longer."
Lisa frowned, sat at the dining table, and mumbled softly,
"Daddy is so lazy..."
A little while later, after Ron and Lisa finished eating, just as Ron was about to take Lisa to school,
Litton hurried over, with prominent dark circles under his eyes.
Seeing Ron and Lisa already ready to leave, and his portion of breakfast still on the table,
Litton couldn't help but clear his throat, saying somewhat awkwardly,
"Oh, I'm sorry, I woke up late today."
"Yes, I can see that, lazy Daddy."
Lisa retorted, while Ron chuckled softly.
"It's alright, Litton. I'll take Lisa to school first. Breakfast is on the table, please enjoy."
Litton offered an apologetic smile, then watched Ron and Lisa leave.
When he sat down and picked up a sandwich, he ate it distractedly.
His eyes were still filled with a hint of sorrow and helplessness.
When Ron returned, he saw Litton already in the clinic, preparing to open for business.
At this moment, Ron carefully observed Litton's expression.
He found that although Litton was not in good spirits, his expression had returned to normal, and his demeanor was natural.
Seeing this, Ron naturally didn't pry or ask about Doctor Gavin.
Instead, he feigned ignorance and continued his morning work as if nothing had happened.
In the afternoon, due to having gone to Kula City the past two days, the home visit service had been postponed.
So, right after lunch, Litton grabbed his toolbox and hurried out.
Ron didn't rest either; after clearing the dishes and closing the clinic door,
He immediately returned to his room, took out the herbs he bought yesterday, and went into Litton's small laboratory.
At this moment, Ron stood before the preparation table, recalling the key points and precautions mentioned in the previous intelligence.
With everything ready and precise,
He began to hold his breath and concentrate on concocting the [Spirit Awakening Potion].
"Three grams of talcum powder, two tablespoons of pufferfish mucus, ten milliliters of fresh black feather pigeon blood... heat and stir evenly, then place in a cool, dark place..."
"Place fresh cat tail grass, Hilly flower, wind-whisper orchid, and climbing vine main stem... into separate mortars, crush them, and extract their juices..."
"Then wash peppermint leaves, dried nettle, and crimson willow bark... soak them in pure water for half an hour, then distill to obtain essential oil..."
"Finally, add the auxiliary fusion liquid, stir clockwise until evenly mixed, and filter out impurities after precipitation..."
Ron meticulously followed the recipe for the Spirit Awakening Potion, without a single deviation.
An hour later.
In front of Ron, on the test tube rack on the table,
There was a test tube containing half a tube of pale green solution.
"Color, smell, transparency... all meet the standards."
Ron inspected it, a slight smile playing on his lips.
"So, I succeeded in concocting it?"
Ron beamed with joy, feeling very happy.
However, amidst his delight, he was also a little surprised.
He hadn't expected to succeed on his very first attempt at refining.
After all, although this potion was only a low-tier version of the [Spirit Awakening Potion],
Compared to those truly graded magic potions, it was relatively easier to refine.
But no matter how simple or easy it was, it wasn't something that could be successfully concocted casually.
Even a slight mistake, even a difference of a hair's breadth in just one step, could lead to the potion being ruined.
Therefore, even though Ron had become a knight and had astonishing control over his body,
And had the system's intelligence providing analysis of key points and difficulties,
To guard against potential failure, he still prepared enough medicinal materials for three attempts.
"However, although the potion has been successfully refined, this is not the authentic Spirit Awakening Potion after all."
"Therefore, while the refining difficulty is reduced, it also loses the additional breakthrough chance of the authentic version, so..."
Ron fell into contemplation. Activating Mental Energy was not an easy task.
Compared to knights, the number of mages was even scarcer, precisely because the starting difficulty gap was too great.
Unless Ron had some extraordinary talent in the field of magic,
Otherwise, this single [Spirit Awakening Potion] might not be enough to support him in activating his Mental Energy.
So, thinking of this,
Ron simply refined the remaining two portions of medicinal materials into potions.
The three potions were combined and poured into a small bottle.
"This Spirit Awakening Potion, taken ten milliliters at a time. This small half-bottle probably contains about fifty to sixty milliliters, enough for at least five uses..."
"If I still can't activate Mental Energy after five times, I'll just have to buy more herbs and concoct it again."
Ron thought to himself. He also didn't know what his talent in the spiritual domain was like.
If his aptitude was too poor, perhaps after five attempts, refining this low-tier Spirit Awakening Potion again would be useless.
He would have to use the genuine [Spirit Awakening Potion] to potentially activate Mental Energy... "Why think so much? You can't always think of the worst."
Ron shook his head, guessing somewhat optimistically,
"Perhaps I can succeed on the first try? You never know."
At this point, it was already dusk.
Ron no longer dwelled on it, took out a teaspoon, and poured in ten milliliters of the potion.
Then, he drank it down in one gulp.
Buzz!
In an instant, Ron felt his mind become incomparably cool.
His eyes, which had been somewhat sore and swollen from concentrating on refining the potion, now felt much more comfortable.
And in his vision, he felt that the things he saw had undergone some subtle changes.
For example, the afterglow of the setting sun outside the window, which in Ron's eyes had merely been orange-red and slightly warm.
But now, in Ron's world, the setting sun was like fire, and blood-red filled the sky.
The surrounding evening clouds were colorful and picturesque, and the fiery clouds, like brocade, covered the entire firmament.
The sun, which had originally been hot as fire and full of vitality, now seemed to be on the verge of extinguishing, sinking into its twilight years.
