83: Werewolves and vampires, sworn enemies

Inside the storeroom.

Ron’s eyes flickered; he felt the situation had become complicated.

“Next, I need to get to Kula City as soon as possible.”

“I must obtain more intelligence before I can devise a foolproof plan to break this deadlock.”

Ron suddenly recalled the private seal of Gevas’s office mentioned in yesterday’s intelligence.

“First, kill Gevas, then find a way to get the seal; only then can I go to Kula City!”

Ron’s heart hardened, and a sharp glint flashed in his eyes.

A residence permit could only be processed by the town mayor or a security official of the same rank.

He hadn’t even met the mayor or anyone of that status, let alone asked them to vouch for him.

Therefore, the best approach was to start with Gevas and plan from there.

“Oh, right, the Saar Family still needs twenty slaves, don’t they? I can just turn their trick against them…”

Ron’s thoughts surged, and he already had a plan.

A moment later.

With a clear mind, Ron turned his attention to the remaining three pieces of intelligence.

“Vampire Bat bloodline? Vampire… Blood Clan?”

Ron paused, then his eyes lit up.

“Haha, it’s just as I expected! With this, the Kula Family will surely be at my disposal!”

Ron’s lips curved upwards, feeling incredibly excited.

Previously, he had guessed that the Kula Family might be the legendary Werewolf Family.

Now, the updated intelligence confirmed his suspicion.

However, what he never expected was this.

The Saar Family’s bloodline turned out to be Vampire Bats!

Legend has it that werewolves and Vampires were originally humans, and even blood brothers.

It was only later, due to certain reasons, that one became a werewolf and the other a Vampire.

Then, the brothers turned against each other, becoming sworn enemies and going their separate ways.

The veracity of this legend, however, remains to be investigated.

But, after a millennium, even to this day.

The relationship between werewolves and Vampires has indeed become one of generational enmity.

Once they meet, they are bound to be incompatible, fighting to the death.

“Among bloodlines, just like Breathing Techniques, there are also superior and inferior ranks.”

“The Saar Family’s Vampire Bats are precisely an inferior bloodline to Vampires, and furthermore…”

Ron shifted his gaze to the last piece of intelligence.

“They can also purify or mutate their bloodline through Blood Sacrifice and other methods, ascending to become true Vampires.”

“Thus, a Werewolf Family and a Vampire reserve—the two are bound to be irreconcilable, fighting to the bitter end.”

Ron’s lips curled into a smile, having already made his decision.

Time flew by, and soon it was the next day.

In the early morning.

When Ron returned after dropping Lisa off at school.

Doctor Litton, as usual, had already opened the clinic door, ready to welcome patients.

At this moment, Doctor Litton glanced at the calendar.

“Time passes so quickly. Is it already the end of the month?”

Doctor Litton pondered, then, recalling something, turned to Ron.

“Oh, right, Ron, you’ve been working here for almost a month now; it’s time to pay you.”

Doctor Litton took out his money pouch, pulled out twenty silver coins, and handed them to Ron.

“Uh, no need, Mr. Litton, I’m already very grateful that you took me in.”

“What’s more, I’m not short on money now. You’ve always bought the herbs I collected at a high price…”

Upon hearing this, Ron quickly declined.

Doctor Litton, however, looked serious and shook his head.

“No, business is business. We agreed on this from the start.”

Seeing Doctor Litton’s insistence, Ron could only accept the coins.

Doctor Litton nodded with satisfaction upon seeing this.

And in Ron’s heart, his admiration for Doctor Litton grew even stronger.

One must know that although he now possessed hundreds of gold coins.

A mere twenty silver coins were no longer significant to him.

However, in Hibo Town and even in the surrounding towns of Kula City.

Twenty silver coins a month was already considered a very high-paying job.

After all, for an average family of three in Hibo Town.

Their annual income would at most not exceed one gold coin.

Moreover, during Ron’s stay at Doctor Litton’s house these past days.

There were no expenses for food and lodging; everything was taken care of by Doctor Litton.

The work was also very easy, only involving simple cleaning and assisting with records.

How could Ron not be grateful for such generous treatment?

However, when Ron thought about the plan he had made last night.

His heart sank, and he couldn’t help but sigh.

Immediately, he spoke to Doctor Litton with a serious expression.

“Excuse me, Mr. Litton, there’s something I hope you can approve.”

Doctor Litton paused, then chuckled wryly.

“No need to be so polite; just say what’s on your mind.”

He had initially thought that Ron wanted to ask for an afternoon off again to search for herbs in the wilderness.

He was already accustomed to this and was ready to agree as soon as Ron spoke.

However, Ron’s next sentence left him stunned on the spot.

“Mr. Litton, I’m afraid I won’t be able to continue working for you next month.”

“…Ron, what did you say?”

Doctor Litton was taken aback, looking at Ron with some surprise.

“You mean… you’re resigning?”

Ron nodded, saying solemnly.

“Yes, I plan to go to Kula City next month to find a way to redeem my sister.”

At these words, Doctor Litton instantly understood.

The last time the two of them went to Kula City, Ron had visited his sister Alice.

However, for some reason, perhaps due to procedural issues.

The Saar Family had rejected Ron’s request to redeem Alice.

Now, after about a week’s time.

It seemed Ron had been constantly worried about his sister, never giving up the idea of redeeming her.

“Sigh… I’m sorry, Ron, I couldn’t help with your sister’s matter.”

Doctor Litton sighed, saying with deep apology.

Although he was the respected Doctor Litton in Hibo Town.

In Kula City, he was just an unknown minor character.

His only connection was Dr. Gavin, whose relationship with him had already broken down… So, Doctor Litton was willing but unable to help Ron at all.

“It’s alright, Mr. Litton, you don’t need to apologize for this.”

Ron said earnestly and sincerely.

Doctor Litton gave a bitter smile, then patted him on the shoulder.

After a moment of silence, Doctor Litton remembered something and quickly reminded him.

“Oh, right, Ron, how many days do you plan to stay in Kula City?”

“If you intend to stay there long-term, you must have a residence permit.”

Doctor Litton, fearing Ron didn’t know what a residence permit was, quickly explained.

“This thing isn’t that easy to get; you have to go to the mayor or Gevas and them.”

“Also, Kula City is extremely expensive, and prices are high. Do you have enough money to rent a place to live there?”
