77: The Origin of Wind's Rest Plains
It was early morning.
The daily intelligence refresh notification sounded.
"Ding! Today's intelligence is as follows—"
"1. After receiving his inheritance, Mickey plans to convert all his jewelry into cash to pursue his dream of opening a clothing store."
"2. Mickey suffers from hemophilia; even minor injuries can cause severe bleeding, making it difficult for him to train as a Knight."
"3. Gevas will depart tomorrow morning to escort slaves to Kula City, returning the evening of the day after tomorrow."
"4. To appease Gevas, Madoc will personally meet with him and give him a certain reward."
"5. Gevas's lover's bedroom and study are never allowed to be cleaned by the nanny; she tidies them herself."
"6. Gevas does not trust his wife from an arranged marriage, so he never tells her many things, and secret items are kept in his office and other hidden locations."
"7. Gevas's private seal and important documents are placed in the bookshelf in his office."
"8. There are two major orthodox sects currently in Kula City, the Earth Sect and the Storm Sect, both of which have churches."
"9. Since its establishment, most members of the Kula Family have believed in the Night Sect, a tradition that has lasted for over a hundred years."
"10. Among the six major families, the Kula Family has the fewest intermarriages, and their women never marry outside the family."
At this moment, Roan paused his training and began to browse the intelligence.
"Chasing dreams, opening a clothing store... Mickey, you truly are Mirar's good son!"
Seeing the first piece of intelligence, Roan couldn't help but smile.
Previously, he had worried that Mickey, as a son, might insist on seeking the truth and avenging his mother.
However... the intelligence from two consecutive nights showed that Mickey genuinely had no intention of investigating Mirar's death.
In that case, Roan wouldn't need to trouble himself with him.
"Hemophilia?"
Roan raised an eyebrow; he seemed to have heard of this disease before, apparently a hereditary one?
However, Mirar's diary never mentioned her son's illness.
Nor was there a single word about Mickey's biological father.
So, after a quick glance, Roan turned his attention to the third piece of intelligence.
"Gevas departs tomorrow and returns the day after tomorrow?"
Roan's eyes glinted; it seemed tomorrow night would be the time to steal the Fighting Wolf Breathing Technique.
There was nothing noteworthy in the fourth piece of intelligence.
However, the fifth piece of intelligence made Roan's heart stir.
"The nanny doesn't enter the bedroom or study, and Gevas's lover likes to play cards all night."
"Then, acting tomorrow night should not lead to any unexpected incidents..."
After making his plan, Roan continued to look at the intelligence below.
"Private seal and important items, all placed in the office?"
Roan frowned slightly; the sheriff's office belonged to the town's council.
Whether day or night, Knights guarded it.
Even with the Thief Breathing Technique, it would be difficult for him to enter and steal without being discovered.
"However, knowing the location is enough; if it becomes useful in the future, it won't be too late to find a way."
Roan mused, thinking to himself.
Immediately after, he looked at the next two pieces of intelligence.
"Earth Sect and Storm Sect..."
Roan pondered; while these two sects were not like the Night Sect, which considered the Blood Moon Sect a mortal enemy.
As members of the orthodox sects, they also had an obligation to cleanse these evil sects.
"Perhaps, I should find a way to get these two sects involved as well?"
In Kula City—or rather, the entire Windwhisper Plains.
The Earth Sect and the Storm Sect were the most prevalent orthodox sects apart from the Creation Sect.
The reason was simple, according to ancient legends.
Hundreds or thousands of years ago, this place was originally a gathering point for storms, with strong winds and flying sand and stones daily, making human survival impossible.
So, the people prayed to the heavens, hoping the gods could help them conquer this land.
Later, the God of Storms, one of the Nine Great Orthodox Gods, heard the calls of the believers and was moved.
Thus, he sent down a divine oracle, causing the ceaseless storm tornadoes to vanish without a trace under his immense and boundless divine power.
From then on, this area was free from gales and downpours, becoming mild and suitable for human habitation.
To commemorate and give thanks, the believers renamed this place the 'Windwhisper Plains,' meaning the place where storms ceased.
And the Storm Sect began to flourish on this plain.
As for the Earth Sect, it was because this plain was suitable for cultivation, with developed agriculture.
It was one of the Mand Empire's thirteen major grain-producing regions.
Because the people of the Windwhisper Plains wished for favorable weather and abundant harvests.
They also listed the Earth Sect as one of the two most worthy orthodox sects to believe in.
"However, the Kula Family, since its establishment, has mostly believed in the Night Sect..."
Roan thoughtfully considered; previous intelligence showed that Mountain Wolf Knight Alberto was a loyal follower of the Night Sect.
Originally, he had thought this was just an isolated case.
But now he learned that the Kula Family's belief in the Night Sect had lasted for over a hundred years.
"The Kula Family seems to have always favored things related to wolves."
"Moreover, they also have an unknown inherited bloodline..."
Roan's eyes narrowed, and he suddenly had a bold guess.
"Wolves, whether as wild beasts or magical beasts."
"Most are nocturnal creatures, preferring to hunt and forage under the moonlight!"
"So... could the Kula Family be the legendary 'Werewolf Family'?"
On the God-Given Continent, there were all sorts of magical species.
For example, werewolves, Vampires, elves, dwarves, giants... Among them, werewolves were a relatively common type of these magical species.
According to legend, the ancestors of werewolves were also humans.
Later, due to some curse, or perhaps infected by some virus.
They were thenAlienation werewolves, normally appearing no different from ordinary humans.
But when stimulated by certain conditions, such as a full moon, they would transform into brutal werewolves, hunting and slaughtering.
"If they truly are werewolves, then the rules of fewer intermarriages and no marrying outside the family can be explained."
A glint of light flashed in Roan's eyes; ordinary inherited bloodlines, while also feared to be lost, would not be so strict.
Unless they were werewolves, who, for the purity of their bloodline and to avoid being exploited.
Would strictly guard against any opportunity for the werewolf bloodline to leak out.
"And most importantly, although werewolves are brutal, they are absolute supporters of the Night Sect."
"Calling them simple believers is far from enough... Perhaps, they should be called fanatics!"
Roan's lips curved upwards; he seemed to have found a way to deal with the Saar Family.
