7: Get the Wolf Breathing Technique
At this moment, Ron stood in a corner opposite the Enthusiastic Bar, quietly waiting.
After a while, dusk approached.
Ron's gaze sharpened, fixed on the figure approaching in the distance.
The person was of medium build, slightly corpulent, with a pale complexion and eyes narrowed to a slit.
He was accompanied by two servants, dressed in coarse linen clothes, their steps weak and unsteady, clearly just ordinary attendants, not Knight Squires.
"He's here."
Ron remained calm; this was Nem, Barto's eldest son.
Nem had been behind Barto when Ron collected his family's property, so Ron recognized him at a glance.
At this moment, Nem arrived at the Enthusiastic Bar and skillfully greeted the attendant at the door.
The attendant bowed and scraped, offering a few flattering words with a fawning expression.
Nem burst into laughter, then pulled out a handful of copper deer coins and tossed them at the attendant.
The attendant was overjoyed, scrambling to pick up the coins.
Meanwhile, Nem, with his two servants, pushed the door open carelessly and disappeared from Ron's sight.
"Good."
After confirming Nem had entered, Ron retreated a few steps and vanished into the alley.
He couldn't enter the bar; that would reveal his whereabouts.
But he also didn't need to wait there, because according to the system's intelligence, Nem would drop his personal notebook at the corner of Second Avenue.
That was where Ron should set up his ambush.
An hour later.
The door of the Enthusiastic Bar opened, and Nem, face flushed and eyes hazy, stumbled out drunkenly.
His two servants quickly rushed to his sides, supporting him to prevent him from falling.
Nem's alcohol tolerance wasn't good; he had only been drinking for a short while but was already close to passing out.
Normally, it wouldn't matter if he got drunk; he could just sleep at the Enthusiastic Bar for the night and return the next day.
However, these past few days were different: first, there were rumors of monster claw marks outside Hibo Town, leading to a town-wide curfew.
Second, his father Barto had been unexpectedly injured, and as the eldest son, he naturally couldn't be out carousing.
So, the two servants dragged Nem, staggering, towards the Wealthy District.
When Nem arrived at Hibo Town's Second Avenue, his throat suddenly churned.
He abruptly pushed his two servants away and went to a corner.
"Ugh!"
A foul odor emerged, and the two servants' noses twitched, showing signs of disgust.
However, as servants, they had no choice but to force themselves forward, one patting Nem's back, the other taking out a handkerchief to wipe him.
"I'm, I'm fine, I'm fine, let's go back quickly."
After he finished vomiting, Nem waved his hand indifferently and continued walking forward on his own.
The two servants quickly stepped forward, continuing to support him, completely ignoring the filth in the corner.
After the three left, a figure quietly appeared.
"Hmm..."
Ron frowned, also feeling a bit disgusted.
However, he couldn't afford to be squeamish and looked down, using the faint moonlight to examine the area carefully.
He found that Nem had vomited into the drainage ditch.
And about two meters away, on a clean stone slab, a small notebook lay quietly.
"This is it!"
Ron's face lit up with joy as he picked up the notebook and tucked it into his embrace.
He cautiously glanced left and right, and seeing no one around, he finally relaxed.
Then, he took several twists and turns, returning to Hibo Town's Commoner District, and arrived at a cheap inn he had found earlier, where he paid to rent a room.
Due to the curfew, the city gates were already closed at this time.
Although he had previously received system intelligence about a hidden dog hole for entry and exit, it was already late, and he couldn't see his hand in front of his face.
Even if he could really get out through the dog hole, on the way back, if he encountered a wild beast or even a monster, his life would probably be over.
Therefore, for safety, Ron could only temporarily rent a room at an inn.
The rented single room was less than ten square meters in size.
However, it had a bed, a table, and even a kerosene lamp, enough to meet a customer's needs.
Ron closed the door, propping it shut with a stool.
Then he lit the oil lamp with a match, using its faint light.
He took out the palm-sized notebook and opened it to examine it carefully.
"This is the Breathing Technique!"
Ron was incredibly excited, laughing silently.
The notebook not only contained diagrams of the Breathing Technique but also Nem's own records and analyses.
And Nem, being unlearned, recorded everything in very common and easy-to-understand terms.
So, Ron quickly flipped through it and found that he understood all the text!
"According to Nem's records, this is an elementary Breathing Technique."
"After cultivating it, one can slightly increase strength, agility, defense, and stamina."
"If cultivated to mastery, one can even enhance their sense of smell, hearing, and sight, like a Wild Wolf, even being able to see as clearly in the dark as in broad daylight."
These various miraculous effects made Ron very satisfied with it.
Although this was only an elementary Breathing Technique, it could still condense a life seed and produce Battle Qi.
"As long as I can become a Knight, crossing this most difficult step, everything will be easy in the future," Ron thought to himself.
He continued to read the notebook for a while until the kerosene in the lamp ran out.
Only then did he reluctantly get into bed, preparing to sleep.
However, this time he couldn't fall asleep, tossing and turning for a long time.
It wasn't until midnight, when he was drowsily on the verge of sleep, that the system's prompt suddenly sounded.
"Ding! Today's intelligence is as follows—"
"1. The stone house you are currently living in was magically constructed by the lone Alchemist Harrington."
"2. Harrington left six months ago, leaving a low-level, harmless Alchemical item in the stone table drawer of the stone house."
"3. essence fruit is beneficial for Knight cultivation, but ordinary people have weak physiques and should not consume it directly, otherwise, it can lead to indigestion in minor cases, and body explosion in severe cases."
"4. essence fruit can be used to make magical potions or nutritional supplements. The simple nutritional supplement recipe currently circulating on the market is—click to expand."
"5. Practicing the Breathing Technique requires a large amount of nutrition for support, especially meat and egg-based foods."
"6. Barto learned that Nem lost his personal notebook and, in a fit of rage, his condition worsened. His wound became inflamed and swollen, showing signs of pus. Without subsequent proper treatment, he will die in twelve days."
"7. Barto's family doctor, Litton, noticed his condition worsening and therefore plans to find a new employer or open a private clinic."
"8. Due to his incompetence, Barto's butler Poke was reprimanded, and therefore, he goes to the Pirate Tavern every day after work to drown his sorrows in alcohol."
"9. Mirar, after meeting you yesterday, had a renewed spring in her step and is once again looking for handsome men for a night of passion."
"10. The monster marks outside the city were actually faked by members of the Thieves' Guild, with the aim of unsettling the populace."
