129: Chapter 129 I feel pity for Fang Hansu

The roasted rock goat was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Ye Yun tore off a hind leg and took a large bite. The meat was delicious, its juices overflowing.

He ate with gusto. The firelight flickered across his face, creating a play of light and shadow that made his eyes appear even more profound.

At that moment, Ye Yun's brow furrowed slightly. He set down the roast meat in his hand and cast his gaze toward the dense forest not far away.

There were footsteps—light, hurried, mixed with suppressed panting.

Ye Yun didn't move, merely watching that direction quietly.

A moment later, two figures staggered out from the tree shadows, emerging into the area illuminated by the firelight.

Leading the way was a young woman, around eighteen or nineteen years old, of exceptional beauty.

She wore a light cyan dress made of thin fabric, which, soaked with sweat, clung tightly to her body, outlining her delicate and alluring curves.

Her waist was slender, as if one could encircle it with a single hand. The full swell of her chest rose and fell slightly with her rapid breathing.

Beneath the hem of her skirt, a section of smooth calf was exposed.

Though smudged with mud and bits of grass, it couldn't conceal the graceful line of her legs.

Her face bore traces of exhaustion, yet between her brows and eyes, there was an aura of cool, unyielding spirit.

Even in such a wretched state, her back remained straight.

Following her was a middle-aged man, appearing to be in his forties or fifties, with a resolute face and temples already touched with frost.

He wore a gray-brown martial attire.

At the moment, his robes were torn, and his arm was wrapped in a blood-stained cloth strip, clearly having gone through a fierce battle.

With a single glance, Ye Yun assessed this man's cultivation level.

Great Martial Master Level 5—outside, he would be considered quite a skilled expert.

Yet here he was, utterly disheveled, clearly having encountered serious trouble.

Seeing the firelight, the two were taken aback for a moment before their gazes fell upon Ye Yun, sitting leisurely beside the campfire.

A flicker of surprise passed through the young woman's eyes.

She clearly hadn't expected to find someone in the deep mountains who dared to so openly light a fire and roast meat.

She took a few steps forward. Under the firelight, she got a clearer look at Ye Yun's face, and the surprise in her eyes deepened.

The young man before her seemed no more than seventeen or eighteen, with handsome, refined features and a composed demeanor.

His black martial attire was neat and clean, giving no hint of his School origins.

The aura around him was restrained, like the still waters of a deep pool, making it impossible to gauge his depth.

"Young Master, lighting a fire so late at night in the Fengyun Mountains... aren't you afraid of attracting Yao Beasts?"

The woman spoke, her voice clear and crisp, carrying a hint of huskiness, yet still pleasant to hear.

Ye Yun tore off a piece of roast meat, eating it unhurriedly.

He looked up at her, didn't answer, and merely offered a faint smile.

That smile made the woman pause slightly.

She had met many people, but never a young man like this.

Clearly young, yet his eyes were as steady as a deep pool.

As if nothing in the world could stir the slightest ripple within him.

She wasn't annoyed. Her gaze fell upon the golden-brown roasted rock goat meat over the fire, and her throat involuntarily moved.

She hadn't eaten anything all day.

Now, the aroma of the meat drifted into her nostrils, and her stomach betrayed her with an audible rumble.

Her cheeks flushed slightly. She bit her lip and spoke, somewhat embarrassed.

"Young Master... could we... have some? We haven't eaten anything all day."

The middle-aged man behind her, however, wore a look of vigilance. He stepped forward half a pace, shielding the woman, his hand resting on the hilt of the blade at his waist, ready to strike at any moment.

Ye Yun glanced at him, his expression still calm.

He tore off two large pieces of roast meat, wrapped them in clean, broad leaves, and casually tossed them over.

"Eat. I can't finish it alone anyway."

The woman caught the meat, a look of delighted surprise spreading across her face as she hurriedly expressed her thanks.

"Thank you, Young Master!"

She turned and handed one portion to the middle-aged man.

Holding the other portion herself, she began eating in large bites, disregarding any semblance of decorum.

The middle-aged man took the meat but didn't eat immediately, still watching Ye Yun warily.

Yet the aroma of the meat was too tempting. His own stomach growled twice.

He swallowed, hesitated for a moment, and finally, unable to resist the hunger, took a bite.

Once he started, he couldn't stop, devouring the meat ravenously until it was completely gone.

After finishing, both of them looked as if they wished there were more.

The woman licked her lips, neatly folded the leaf that had held the meat, stood up, walked over to Ye Yun, and bowed formally.

"Thank you, Young Master, for saving our lives. My name is Fang Hansu. This is Uncle Fu. We come from Qingzhou City. If not for you today, we might have truly starved to death in these mountains."

Ye Yun waved a hand dismissively, speaking lightly.

"A small gesture, no need for thanks. It's getting late. If you two have rested enough, you should leave soon. The Fengyun Mountains are not safe at night. Finding a secure place to spend the night is important."

Upon hearing this, a trace of difficulty appeared on Fang Hansu's face.

She looked at the pitch-black dense forest around them, then at Ye Yun.

Biting her lip, a flicker of entreaty passed through her eyes.

"Young Master... could we stay here for the night?"

Her voice was soft, carrying a touch of delicate vulnerability that could move the heart.

"We're lost in the mountains, being chased by Yao Beasts. We barely managed to escape here. In the dead of night like this, we truly don't know where to go..."

Uncle Fu's expression changed. He quickly stepped forward, tugging at Fang Hansu's sleeve, and whispered urgently in a low voice.

"Young Miss! We don't know this person at all. How can we impose so rashly? Besides, in these deep mountains, a person alone is suspicious in itself. What if..."

"What if what?"

Fang Hansu interrupted him, her tone carrying weariness and helplessness.

"Uncle Fu, in our current state, where else can we go? The way back is already blocked by Yao Beasts. We don't know what lies ahead either. Rather than stumbling around blindly in this dark mountain, it's better to stay here for the night."

"If this Young Master harbored ill intentions, given our current condition, we couldn't resist anyway. Since he was willing to share food with us, why would he go to extra trouble?"

Uncle Fu opened his mouth but found no words.

He knew what the Young Miss said was true, but years of caution made him deeply uneasy.

Fang Hansu paid him no further mind, turning her gaze back to Ye Yun.

Her eyes, reflecting the firelight, shimmered with a watery sheen, cool yet tinged with a hint of fragility.

Enough to stir an involuntary sense of pity in anyone.

Ye Yun looked at her, his gaze lingering on her face for a moment.

In the firelight, the woman's beauty seemed even more radiant.

Her skin was lustrous white like jade, her brows and eyes like a painting, her nose bridge elegant and straight, her lips a vivid red.

Even in such disarray, it couldn't hide that ethereal, cool grace.

Her figure was slender yet exquisitely proportioned. The light cyan dress, soaked with sweat, clung closely to her skin.

Outlining the softness of her waist and the fullness of her chest.

Making one afraid to look too long, yet unable to resist stealing another glance.

Ye Yun withdrew his gaze, speaking lightly.

"As you wish. This place isn't mine. Stay if you want."

A delighted smile appeared on Fang Hansu's face as she quickly thanked him.

"Thank you, Young Master!"

Uncle Fu remained vigilant, but said nothing more.

He simply stood guard silently beside Fang Hansu, his gaze never leaving Ye Yun.
