56: Chapter 56 Sun Hao Stirs Up Trouble
A sturdy Disciple with a short, scruffy beard was the first to put down the iron spear in his hand. He grinned and spoke in a booming voice.
"A newcomer? Come in, quickly! Our room was just missing two people; your arrival makes exactly eight!"
Ye Yun closed the door behind him and cupped his hands in greeting to everyone in the room, his tone calm and polite.
"Hello, Senior Brothers. I am Ye Yun, a new Disciple of the Sect. We'll be living together from now on, so I ask for your guidance."
"We're all fellow Disciples, no need to be so formal!"
"That empty bed by the window was reserved by the Sect. The bedding is all newly issued, so hurry up and get settled!"
The Disciples in the room chimed in one after another, enthusiastically pointing toward the empty spot by the window.
After thanking them, Ye Yun walked over to the bedside and set down his travel bag.
The clean cotton bedding and green Outer Sect Disciple uniform were neatly arranged, with a copy of the luoxue sect disciple code of conduct sitting at the head of the bed.
He looked around the room, listening to the shouts from those practicing punches outside the window, and watching his fellow Disciples either cultivating or chatting.
The true face of the Luoxue Sect's Outer Sect finally unfolded completely before his eyes.
Ye Yun casually placed the Disciple regulations at the head of the bed, silently making his plans.
The Outer Sect Grand Competition, the Great Martial Master Realm, the iron laws of the Sect... his journey would officially begin from this eight-person communal bunk.
Once Ye Yun had finished organizing his simple belongings, he sat on the edge of the bed and began flipping through the luoxue sect disciple code of conduct.
The others in the room gathered around, enthusiastically striking up a conversation.
The first to speak was still that sturdy man holding the iron spear. He patted the shaft of his spear and grinned.
"My name is Zhao Hu. I'm an Outer Sect Disciple from the previous intake. My cultivation has just barely reached Great Martial Artist - 2nd Stage."
Standing beside him was a thin-faced Disciple with a hint of gloom between his brows. He nodded slightly.
"Zhou Wen, same year as Zhao Hu. Great Martial Artist First Level."
The remaining four all had youthful, inexperienced faces. Clearly, like Ye Yun, they were newcomers from this year's intake, and they all introduced themselves.
The honest-looking, short, and stout one was pleural; the one with clever eyes was Zhang Yuan; the silent one was Chen Mo; and the one with a fair complexion was Liu Hao.
In the eight-person dormitory, there was now only one empty spot left besides Ye Yun's, and the seven of them were gathered together.
The conversation quickly turned to the Sect's core matter: promotion.
Zhao Hu stroked his short beard, his tone filled with helplessness.
"For us Outer Sect Disciples of the Luoxue Sect, there are only two ways to enter the Inner Sect. One is the Outer Sect Grand Competition held every six months; if you take the top three, you'll be recruited by an Elder as an exception. The second is to rely on raw cultivation; if you break through to Great Martial Master Level 5 before the age of twenty-five, you'll be automatically promoted to the Inner Sect without needing to compete."
"But neither of these paths is easy to walk."
Zhou Wen sighed, his eyes dimming.
"Zhao Hu and I have been in the Sect for a year. He's stuck at Great Martial Artist - 2nd Stage, and I'm only at the First Level. This is the limit of our talent; I'm afraid we'll never reach the threshold of the Inner Sect in this lifetime. In three more years, I'll be twenty-five, and then I'll have to honestly remain an Outer Sect Disciple for the rest of my life."
Li Mu scratched his head, his face full of trepidation.
"Then Great Martial Master Level 5 is just too difficult. Among us newcomers this year, how many can reach it before twenty-five?"
"Very few,"
Zhao Hu said bluntly.
"The top three spots in the Outer Sect Grand Competition are firmly held by the senior Disciples from previous years. It's harder than climbing to heaven for us newcomers to stand out."
Ye Yun listened quietly, committing the Luoxue Sect's promotion rules and age limits to memory.
He finally had a clear understanding of the Sect's fundamental rules.
Just as everyone was chatting heatedly, there was a loud "bang" as the wooden door of the dormitory was kicked open!
A young man wearing a brand-new Outer Sect uniform walked in, his posture straight but his face full of arrogance.
The material of his clothes was more refined than the ordinary Disciple uniforms, and a jade pendant hung from his waist. His gaze swept across the room.
Finally, it landed directly on Ye Yun's bed by the window, and a disdainful smile curled onto his lips.
This person was the last newcomer to join the dormitory, Sun Hao.
Sun Hao crossed his arms over his chest and pointed haughtily at Ye Yun's bed, his tone incredibly arrogant.
"Hey, newcomer, I want this window spot. Scram to that empty bed next to it."
The room instantly went silent, and everyone's eyes focused on the two of them.
Ye Yun's brow furrowed instantly. He looked up at Sun Hao, his tone turning cold.
"This is the bed the Sect assigned to me. Why should I give it to you?"
"Why?" Sun Hao acted as if he had heard a joke. He took a step forward, the Martial Artist 10th Stage Mystic Power around him surging slightly.
"Because I, Sun Hao, don't like that crappy spot. If you know what's good for you, move quickly, or you'll have a bitter pill to swallow!"
He attitude was overbearing and completely unreasonable, acting as if he had Ye Yun right where he wanted him.
Ye Yun sneered inwardly. If Sun Hao had asked politely, he might not have bothered to argue.
But with such an arrogant and aggressive attitude, he wouldn't yield even an inch.
"I'm not moving," Ye Yun said in a flat tone, yet it carried an unquestionable firmness.
Seeing this, Zhao Hu hurriedly and quietly tugged on Ye Yun's sleeve, whispering urgently.
"Brother, don't be impulsive! This Sun Hao has a background. I saw him walking with Lin Xiao, one of the top ten in Outer Sect combat power, this morning. They're very close. Lin Xiao is a senior Disciple at the Great Martial Master Third Stage Peak; we can't afford to provoke him!"
Hearing this, Ye Yun's gaze remained icy, showing no intention of backing down.
Seeing that Ye Yun was unmoved, the arrogance on Sun Hao's face instantly turned into malice, and he let out a loud shout.
"Fine! Since you don't know how to appreciate a favor, let's settle this with our fists! The winner stays here, and the loser scrams!"
Before his voice had even faded, Sun Hao's figure suddenly lunged forward, his right punch carrying a sharp, biting wind.
What he executed was precisely the Luoxue Sect's basic Martial Skill, the Gale-Splitting Punch. The wind from the punch howled, heading straight for Ye Yun's face!
His cultivation was also at Martial Artist 10th Stage, making him one of the best among this year's newcomers.
At this moment, he showed no mercy, clearly intending to beat Ye Yun into submission.
Everyone in the room was startled. Zhao Hu wanted to stop him, but it was already too late; he could only frown inwardly.
Facing Sun Hao's fierce attack, Ye Yun's expression remained indifferent as the Martial Master Level 10 Peak Mystic Power around him suddenly exploded!
Both were at Martial Artist 10th Stage, but Sun Hao had only just entered the Realm, while Ye Yun had long since reached the Peak. The difference in the depth of their Mystic Power was like night and day!
Ye Yun shifted his feet slightly, sidestepping the punch's wind, and formed a palm with his right hand.
He struck out with a simple Falling Snow Palm. The palm's force was gentle yet contained the power to crumble mountains, accurately striking Sun Hao's chest.
"Bang!"
With a dull sound, Sun Hao felt as if he had been struck by a giant boulder.
He was sent flying backward, slamming heavily into the dormitory's wooden cabinet and letting out a miserable scream.
The Mystic Power in his hands instantly dissipated, and he could no longer muster a shred of strength.
One move!
In just one move, Sun Hao was utterly defeated and on the ground!
The entire dormitory fell into a deathly silence. Everyone's eyes were wide with disbelief.
Zhao Hu's hand, which was gripping his spear, froze in mid-air, his mouth hanging open wide enough to fit an egg.
"One move... defeated in one move? This Ye Yun is actually at Great Martial Master Level 10 Peak?"
Zhou Wen's eyes were filled with shock as he murmured.
"They're both at Great Martial Master Level 10, but the gap is actually this huge!"
