97: Chapter 97 I'll do anything you ask

"Your wound is on your chest, and you've lost too much blood. If I hadn't bandaged it in time, your life would have been at risk. Under these urgent circumstances, I had no choice but to... I apologize."

He paused, then added, "Rest assured, I was only treating your wounds. I had absolutely no intention of offending you."

Wang Yuyan looked into his candid eyes, and the panic and shyness in her heart gradually subsided.

In their place arose complex, indescribable emotions.

She knew that what Ye Yun said was the truth; in that situation, anyone else would have done the same.

Yet, he was, after all, the first man to see her...

Wang Yuyan lowered her eyes and spoke softly, her voice carrying a hint of shyness, but even more gratitude.

"Thank you, Ye Yun. If it weren't for you, I would have died at the hands of those people yesterday."

Ye Yun waved his hand.

"No need to be so polite. We are old acquaintances, so saving you was the right thing to do. Although your wounds have been treated, they still need time to recover. Do not engage in strenuous activity for the next few days."

Wang Yuyan nodded, but suddenly thinking of something, she looked up at him and asked, "Those people... why did they try to hurt me?"

Ye Yun raised an eyebrow: "You don't know?"

Wang Yuyan shook her head, a flash of resentment crossing her eyes.

"Those few people had been pestering me ever since I entered the Sect, claiming they liked me and wanting me to be their Dao Companion. I didn't agree, so they harbored hatred in their hearts. I didn't expect that after entering Black Wind Ridge, they would actually commit such despicable acts."

Ye Yun sneered.

"Beasts are beasts; even if they wear human skin, they cannot change their true nature. But rest assured, they are already dead and will never bother you again."

Upon hearing this, a wave of satisfaction surged in Wang Yuyan's heart, followed immediately by complex emotions.

She looked at Ye Yun, hesitated for a moment, and asked softly, "Ye Yun, what are your plans for now? I still need to complete my mission; I can't just go back like this."

Ye Yun frowned slightly, his gaze sweeping over her, his tone carrying a hint of helplessness.

"In your current state, you might not even be able to defeat a Level 1 Yao Beast. How are you going to complete the mission?"

Wang Yuyan bit her lip, her eyes slightly reddening, her voice choked with emotion.

"I know... but I really cannot give up. The Sect rules state that the newcomer mission must be completed, otherwise one will be directly expelled from the Sect."

"I carry the hopes of the Wang Family. If I am expelled from the Sect, Father will be disappointed, and the Family will be disgraced."

After saying this, Wang Yuyan looked up at Ye Yun.

Her eyes were filled with pleading and expectation, her voice so weak it made one's heart ache.

"Ye Yun, can you... can you take me with you to complete the mission? I promise not to hold you back; you can make me do anything!"

You can make me do anything.

These five words fell into Ye Yun's ears, causing his eyes to flash slightly.

He looked at Wang Yuyan's pitiful appearance, a flash of teasing amusement crossing his eyes.

He deliberately looked her up and down, his tone playful.

"Oh? Anything I ask?"

Wang Yuyan's cheeks flushed even redder under his gaze, her heart beating like a drum, and various images uncontrollably surfaced in her mind.

[He, he wouldn't make that kind of request, right? I... what should I do? But if I don't agree, I won't be able to complete the mission.]

She bit her lip, remained silent for a long time, and finally closed her eyes, using all her strength.

She nodded slightly, her voice so faint it was almost inaudible.

"I... I can."

Ye Yun looked at her, so nervous she was about to cry, and couldn't help but chuckle.

"Alright, I was just teasing you. I haven't decided what I want you to do yet; consider it a debt. Let's go, I'll take you to complete the mission."

Wang Yuyan suddenly opened her eyes, her gaze filled with surprise and gratitude, tears shimmering.

"Really?"

Ye Yun stood up, dusted off his robes, and looked at her.

"Can you still walk on your own?"

"Yes!"

Wang Yuyan nodded quickly, her hands pressing against the withered grass as she tried hard to stand up.

But just as she stood halfway, her legs felt as weak as if they were filled with lead, her body tilted, and she fell toward the ground.

Ye Yun was quick-witted and fast-handed, his figure flashing.

He appeared by her side in an instant, his long arms scooping her up and holding her firmly in his embrace.

Her warm, soft body pressed against his chest again, and the faint, sweet scent of the young girl wafted into his nostrils.

Ye Yun looked down at her flushed cheeks, a helpless smile curling the corners of his lips.

"Let's go, I'll carry you."

As he finished speaking, he said no more, carrying Wang Yuyan as he strode out of the cave.

Pushing aside the vines, sunlight spilled onto them.

Ye Yun moved, unleashing his Flowing Cloud Steps, and carried her as he sped through the mountain forest.

Wang Yuyan curled up in his arms, her cheek pressed tightly against his chest.

She could clearly feel his powerful heartbeat and warm body temperature.

She quietly raised her eyes, stealing a glance at Ye Yun's sharp, well-defined profile.

A wave of indescribable palpitations and shyness surged in her heart.

[His embrace... is so warm.]

In the time that followed, Ye Yun carried Wang Yuyan, moving like a green afterimage as he traversed the dense forests of Black Wind Ridge.

Whenever he encountered a Yao Beast, he would slay it with a single sword strike, crisp and clean.

Whenever he encountered other Outer Sect Disciples, he would say nothing, block their path directly, and demand they hand over their Storage Pouch obediently.

Those who dared to resist were punched to death and looted clean.

Those with good attitudes were given a lecture and let go.

In just one day, countless Yao Beasts died at Ye Yun's hands.

At least twenty or thirty Disciples had been robbed by him.

By the afternoon of the second day, Ye Yun's Storage Pouch was filled.

There were over three hundred pairs of Level 1 Yao Beast ears, over two hundred pairs of Level 2 Yao Beast ears, and nearly fifty pairs of Level 3 Yao Beast ears.

It was also stuffed full of Spiritual Plants, enough to exchange for a large amount of contribution points.

He divided the loot in half and stuffed it into Wang Yuyan's Storage Pouch.

Wang Yuyan looked at the mountain of Yao Beast ears in the pouch, her eyes reddening again.

She looked up at Ye Yun, her voice choked with emotion.

"Ye Yun, you... you are too good to me. This much is enough for me to complete the mission easily, and I might even rank in the top few."

Ye Yun smiled faintly.

"It was just a matter of convenience; don't take it to heart."

Wang Yuyan bit her lip, the emotion in her heart almost overflowing.

She looked at Ye Yun, her gaze becoming increasingly soft, and whispered,

"Thank you... truly, thank you."

The atmosphere became subtle at this moment, a kind of indescribable, ambiguous feeling flowing between the two.

Wang Yuyan's cheeks flushed slightly, and she lowered her eyes, not daring to look into Ye Yun's eyes again.

Just at this moment, Ye Yun's expression changed drastically, and he suddenly looked up toward the distant mountain ridge.

The earth began to tremble, and a dull, rumbling sound came from afar, like ten thousand horses galloping, growing closer and closer.

In the mountain forest, countless birds were startled into flight.

The roars of Yao Beasts rose and fell, merging into a deafening clamor.

Wang Yuyan's face turned deathly pale; she grabbed Ye Yun's lapels tightly, her voice trembling.

"Th-this... what is this?"

Ye Yun's eyes narrowed, his expression turning completely grave.

He held Wang Yuyan and turned to leave.

But it was already too late.
