170: Chapter 170 Wu Zhen's Highbrow Style
These people were the true core strength of the Wu Family.
They were not comparable to the side-branch disciples and ordinary guards from earlier.
The moment Wu Hao saw his father,
he was like a drowning man pulled from the water, suddenly taking a huge gulp of air.
He rushed over, crawling and stumbling, stepping on the hem of his own robes.
He nearly fell flat on his face, staggering several steps before throwing himself at Wu Zhen's side.
"Father! Father!"
His voice was sharp and thin, carrying a sob, like a rat that had its tail stepped on.
"You've finally arrived! This brat... this brat killed Elder Wu Kun and so many of our people! You must kill him! Tear him into ten thousand pieces!"
As he spoke, he shrank behind Wu Zhen, his hands gripping his father's sleeves tightly.
He hid behind him, revealing only half of his face.
On that half-face, tears and snot were a mess, his eyes were bloodshot, his lips pale, and his whole body shook like a sieve.
But those eyes stared viciously at Ye Yun, filled with resentment and hatred.
Having been scared witless just moments ago, now that he had a backer, he immediately became arrogant again.
Wu Zhen looked down at him.
Just one look.
In his gaze, there was no pity or anger, only a deep, undisguised disgust.
"Useless trash."
His voice wasn't loud, but everyone in the hall heard him clearly.
Wu Hao's face instantly turned the color of pig liver.
He opened his mouth, wanting to say something.
But his throat felt as if it were blocked by a stone; not a single word could come out.
His grip on Wu Zhen's sleeve loosened slightly, then tightened again, his knuckles turning white.
He lowered his head, not daring to look into his father's eyes or at the expressions of those around him.
Yet the resentment in his eyes deepened even further.
It wasn't directed at Ye Yun, but was the shame and anger from this public humiliation.
Wu Zhen stopped looking at him and looked up, his gaze passing over the corpses on the ground to land on Ye Yun.
His eyes were deep, like an ancient well, showing no sign of joy or anger.
"Young man, you have quite some skill."
His voice was low and steady, carrying the composure unique to those long in positions of power.
"To kill members of my Wu Family on my Wu Family's territory—you are the first."
He paused, standing with his hands behind his back, his chin slightly raised.
"Those who bully my Wu Family shall die."
"Those who offend my Wu Family shall die."
"Since you dared to step through these doors today and turn your weapons against my Wu Family, then—"
He extended his right hand, pointing his index finger at Ye Yun, enunciating every word.
"Even if the King of Hell comes, he cannot save you."
As his voice fell, the Aura of a Great Martial Master Peak was released from his body without reservation.
It bore down on Ye Yun like a massive mountain.
The remaining guests in the hall retreated one after another.
A few with low cultivation were pressed by this Aura until their faces turned pale and their chests felt tight, unable to even stand steadily.
"The Head of the Wu Family is taking action! A Great Martial Master Peak!"
"This kid is finished. Killing a few guards and branch Elders is nothing; the Head of the Wu Family is one of the top three experts in our Qingzhou City!"
"What a pity. This young man's talent is truly good; if he were given another ten years, he might have really become someone."
"Ten years? Today he won't even last ten breaths."
The Loose Cultivators hiding in the corners poked their heads out again, their faces once more wearing expressions of schadenfreude.
The core Elders behind Wu Zhen also chimed in, each showing a look of pride.
Their gazes toward Ye Yun were like looking at a dead man.
Wu Hao shrank behind Wu Zhen, hearing his father's words.
The fear on his face faded significantly, replaced once again by the face of a petty man who had achieved his aim.
"Did you hear that? My father said even if the King of Hell comes, he can't save you!"
His voice still carried a hint of a sob, but he had regained most of his arrogance.
Ye Yun listened to these words, his face expressionless.
Then he smiled.
It was very light and faint, his lips merely curling slightly.
He turned his head and looked at Fang Hansu, who was standing not far away.
"Come here."
Two words, neither loud nor soft, neither hurried nor slow.
It was as if he were calling a friend waiting for him by the roadside.
Fang Hansu was stunned for a moment, then she lifted her skirt and stumbled toward Ye Yun.
The effects of the soft bone powder in her body hadn't fully worn off, making her steps uneven as she ran.
Her bright red skirt trailed on the ground, stained with blood.
But she didn't care and ran with all her might.
Just then, an Elder behind Wu Zhen suddenly took a step across, blocking Fang Hansu's path.
This man was in his forties, with a lean build, a goatee, and a pair of shifty triangular eyes.
His name was Wu De, a Great Martial Master Level 5; he didn't rank high among the Wu Family Elders.
But he excelled at social maneuvering and sycophancy, earning him Wu Zhen's deep trust.
"Want to pass?"
Wu De extended his left hand to stop Fang Hansu while stroking his goatee with his right, a wretched smile on his lips.
"Little lady, why are you running? Today is the auspicious day for you and my young master; the ceremony isn't over yet."
His gaze wandered unscrupulously over Fang Hansu's body.
From her tear-stained face, down to her slender neck, and to her chest tightly wrapped in the wedding dress.
His Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed his saliva.
"Miss Fang, I advise you to go back obediently."
His voice lowered, carrying a malicious laugh.
"Once that kid is dealt with and my young master has consummated the marriage, perhaps—"
He paused, the lewdness in his eyes almost overflowing.
"I can get a share of the spoils too."
Fang Hansu's footsteps stopped.
Not because she was frightened by his words, but because she was shaking all over from the disgusting malice coming at her.
Wu Zhen stood in place with his hands behind his back, not even lifting an eyelid.
He did not stop him.
It was equivalent to tacit consent.
Seeing this, Wu De grew bolder. He chuckled twice and reached out to grab Fang Hansu's wrist.
Before his fingers could touch the red sleeve,
a fiery red Sword Qi shot out from Ye Yun's fingertip.
He didn't draw his sword.
He simply made a light stroke with his index and middle fingers pressed together.
The Sword Qi pierced through the air, as fast as a red bolt of lightning.
Wu De's hand froze in mid-air.
His pupils dilated suddenly, and his mouth opened as if to say something, but he couldn't make a sound.
A thin line of blood extended from his brow down to his chin.
Then his nose, lips, throat, and chest.
His entire body, from top to bottom, was split in two by that Sword Qi.
"Puchi—"
Blood erupted, and the two halves of the corpse fell to the left and right, hitting the ground with a dull thud.
Internal organs spilled everywhere, staining the blue-brick floor a dark red.
Wu De didn't even have time to scream.
Great Martial Master Level 5.
A single finger of Sword Qi.
Instant kill.
The hall fell into a deathly silence once again.
The core Elders of the Wu Family who had been shouting just now had their mouths wide open.
The pride on their faces froze, as if they had been slapped.
Wu Hao let out a sharp scream, "Ah!" and shrank behind Wu Zhen.
His hands gripped his father's robes tightly, his whole body shaking like a leaf in the autumn wind.
