103: Chapter 103 The Unlucky Xia Gai Demon Insect

Xie Feng stood beside the corner of the table, his left hand still pressing against his bruised knee, while his right hand had already summoned the cold crystal blind staff back from the wall.

It was not eerie, lacking that chilly, bizarre aura of anomalies.

A Cthulhuan creature?

Xie Feng closed his three eyes and activated the Gate Guide in his right eye socket.

Tawil's silvery Void Realm slowly unfolded in the depths of his consciousness, spreading out page by page all the cthulhu mythos materials he had browsed in his past life on Blue Star, searching for keywords: parasitism, pain-to-pleasure conversion, neural synapses, unconscious host, group synchronization network.

Insects from Shaggai?!

Intelligent life forms on Planet Shaggai, an insectoid race that worshipped Azathoth, capable of using spiritual stealth abilities to infiltrate the depths of human consciousness without being detected by the host.

The original work stated that these insects were non-material, meaning they could infiltrate the brain without damaging human physical organs, and the reason for their infiltration was also quite strange.

These creatures were basically thrill-seekers; sensory stimuli like pain had a strong attraction to them, but due to their underdeveloped neural structures and having played far too wildly on their home planet, the Shaggai Insects had a very high threshold.

Humans happened to have rich nervous systems, so these creatures loved to infiltrate human brains to obtain this peculiar sensation.

Xie Feng opened his three-lobed eyeballs, spreading his five fingers before him. Silvery magic threads surged out from his Meridians, weaving an extremely fine and dense light net above his palm.

"Contact Insects from Shaggai"

The Spell passed through his hands, sweeping layer by layer across his own cranial cavity.

Found it!

A Shaggai Insect was curled up in the choroid plexus at the bottom of his lateral ventricle, its slender, multi-jointed legs tightly wrapped around the ends of the neural synapses, its mouthparts buried deep within the memory synapses, slowly sucking.

The neural electrical signals generated by the pain when he bumped into the corner of the table just now were transmitting along the synapses into its mouthparts, and its insect belly trembled slightly—it seemed to be sucking with great enjoyment.

"Where on earth did you come from!?"

Xie Feng abruptly clenched his five fingers, pulling the Shaggai Insect completely out in reverse from the depths of the choroid plexus.

Dragged out of his body, the insect hung dazedly in mid-air, its slender legs still instinctively paddling.

That huge, lidless eyeball stared straight at Xie Feng with hatred, and the segmented antennae on its head seemed to be twitching with the rhythm of the Universe.

Its ten legs were covered in shiny black tentacles folded against its pale belly, and its semicircular hard wings were covered with triangular scales, but none of this could express the Soul-tearing terror brought by facing such a bizarre form directly.

Then the jade pendant trembled slightly, eliminating this bizarre influence.

Xie Feng saw the thing's three mouths wriggling wetly as it pounced toward him.

"Still coming?!" Xie Feng hurriedly dodged.

Vigilance came first; do not underestimate this thing. Looking like a pigeon-sized bug, it was actually a bona fide intelligent life form. The brain of the Insects from Shaggai had six lobes, which enabled them to conduct three-way thinking simultaneously.

They possessed advanced technology and could use Mental Energy to operate weapons and equipment. Their signature weapon, the neural sting whip (also known as the neural whip), could emit a trembling pale light; those hit by it would fall into extreme pain and lose the ability to move.

Xie Feng had even complained about this in his past life: liking pain yet using pain-inducing weapons? Wasn't this equivalent to liking sweets and then attacking with lollipops?

What was most fatal was that about 80% of individual Insects from Shaggai mastered various Spells, which usually included summoning Azathoth.

Of course, a single individual definitely could not summon it; that required a massive amount of consciousness and life sacrifices.

But this didn't mean this thing didn't know other Spells. If it happened to hit Xie Feng with a powerful one, wouldn't that be terrible?

"Don't you live in Severn Valley!? How did you come to the foot of the imperial city's walls? Are you a tunnel bug!?" Xie Feng did a roll to dodge the Shaggai Insect's neural sting whip, infused magic into the blind staff, swung the twenty-four staves with a whistling sound, and temporarily knocked this Shaggai Insect flying with a single strike.

It had to be said that Severn Valley was truly a place where outstanding people and spirits gathered. In such a small Severn Valley alone, there were five Great Old Ones: the God of Depravity—Ygolonac, the Master of the Labyrinth—Eihort, and the Dweller in the Lake—Glaaki. These senior three were nicknamed the Severn Valley Big Three. Aside from them, there were two lesser-known ones: Snake Beard—Byatis, and one called The Green God.

And the biggest coincidence was that when the Shaggai Insect race descended upon Earth, they also landed here, and even built the only temple underground dedicated to an Incarnation of Azathoth.

It truly could be considered good scenery, a good place, and a blessed land.

"Speaking of which, since this damned bug lives so far away, why did it run all the way here? And it even set its sights on me!?"

Xie Feng ducked once more to avoid the Shaggai Insect's dive, and started pondering in his mind.

Hiss...

The Shaggai Insects liked pain, and he had put on a wave of medieval barbecue performances in Ranhuo City.

The Shaggai Insects worshipped Azathoth, and he had set off a super massive explosion in Ranhuo City.

The Shaggai Insects were not easy to contact, but he had learned the Insects from Shaggai communication Spell...

It seemed... indeed... not entirely the fault of the Insects from Shaggai, huh?

No way! Even if I bear one hundred percent of the responsibility, do you not have even a shred of responsibility!?

Xie Feng pushed his shameless spirit to the extreme, and with another strike of his staff, he made the Shaggai Insect spit blood straight out.

Even though you can think in three ways, I have three eyes—who is afraid of whom?

Then Xie Feng saw this damned bug start hovering in mid-air. The air began to tremble, and the bug started chanting a Spell!

Xie Feng didn't have any defensive magic Spells on hand at all, and even if he did, it was too late to cast them, but Xie Feng still had a trick up his sleeve.

"You think this is a manga? Am I supposed to wait for you to finish chanting your Spell before attacking?! Left hook!!"

As the saying goes, making a feint to the east while attacking in the west.

Xie Feng threw a punch right onto the Shaggai Insect's right cheek, forcibly interrupting its half-chanted Spell.

Unfortunately, the Shaggai Insect could use the friction of its insect abdomen to complete the rest of the Spell. As the Spell slowly activated, Xie Feng was slightly stunned and then seemed to understand what the Shaggai Insect's Spell was.

This unlucky bug... was using the Grasp of Nyogtha...

People unfamiliar with this magic might not know that this Spell had several other nicknames: the Evil Twist, the Dark Wizard's Secret Fury, and the Dreadful Scratch.

How about that? Doesn't it sound particularly terrifying?

In reality, this magic was also extremely terrifying. Once successfully cast, the targeted object would feel a giant hand tightly gripping their heart, causing them to die.

Unfortunately...

The little sun on his chest paused slightly, and then erupted with a furious flash.

Xie Feng lowered his head to look at the little sun on his chest, then looked up at the screaming Shaggai Insect whose front two legs were on fire.

"You're making a huge fuss, little bro!"

Beat a dog that has fallen into the water—he backhanded the bug with a staff, knocking it straight down from mid-air.

The unlucky Shaggai Insect, having met such a shameless Cthulhu madman, was now lying on the ground twitching uncontrollably.
