170: Chapter 170 I finally found you

The pale wizard had his hands tucked into his sleeves, leaning back against the stone wall.

"Are you sure it's an ancient text from Hyperborea, not something he brought from Kyushu?"

"Whether it is or not, the knowledge in that book is fascinating."

The witch replied.

Another wizard chimed in.

"So he's not just a Kyushu magician, but a living library carrying lost ancient texts around with him. How could such a person appear in the Old Capital and voluntarily deliver himself to register for association certification?"

Even if they racked their brains, they could never think of the answer.

Xie Feng wasn't a person of this era, so he had no scruples in what he did. As long as he extracted the shard from Third Princess's body, Xie Feng would directly use Zhou Jinglan as a coordinate and flee back to the imperial palace.

The witch's gaze swept across her two companions.

"So I want you to follow him. Don't make a move here; go to the resting place of the Ivory Throne.

Since he is so eager, he must be going to look for Old Gods. He wants to find Noph-Keh and have Noph-Keh take him to the resting place, so let him go. When he meets the God of the Ivory Throne at the resting place, we will make our move.

That place isolates the gaze of all external Old Gods; those spellbooks in his arms will be useless, and those companions by his side will be useless as well."

The two wizards exchanged glances.

One of them spoke:

"He's not alone; there are several guards with high cultivation by his side. There's also one wearing a yellow robe, and the aura of that yellow robe is wrong."

The other one also nodded.

"How should we deal with those people by his side? The one in the yellow robe, and those carrying sabers."

The witch turned her head to look at him.

"Don't touch the one in the yellow robe. The King in Yellow is not someone we can afford to provoke, and the Lord of Immortality is currently unwilling to make enemies in Hyperborea.

If necessary, sacrifice everyone else to the Lord of Immortality. The resting place is the Domain of the Old Gods; sacrificing them there will both weaken the God of the Ivory Throne and find new magician slaves for our master. The Lord of Immortality will be pleased.

Take the books, and sacrifice the people.

He is a person from Kyushu, and is connected to Liu Yanqing. Whether he admits it himself or not, I'd rather sacrifice the wrong person than let a second Liu Yanqing walk out of Hyperborea alive."

After saying that, she pushed the copy of the Vrees Sign on the table further aside and no longer looked at the two pale wizards.

Xie Feng had already tested the Spell, and there was no response from Noph-Keh within the nearest range.

Xie Feng pushed open the door, leaned the cold crystal blind staff against the wall, pulled the scroll of Contact Nophke from his arms, and placed it on the table.

The group all cast their gazes over.

"Oho, our alpha wolf is back from hunting. Any harvest?"

Tu Ziguan leaned over.

"The phone is in hand, except that Noph-Keh are all shrunk deep in the mountains now. The range of Contact Nophke is limited, and no signal can be detected in the city at all."

Xie Feng unfolded the scroll and tapped his finger on the schematic diagram of the effective range of Contact Nophke.

"The maximum range of this Spell is only enough to cover a small area around the Old Capital; any further and it decays to the point of being unusable. According to the intelligence given by the snake-people, the remaining Noph-Keh are all hiding deep in the dense forests of the mountains. We must get close to them to have a chance to establish contact."

Xu Liujing was slapped awake by Lu Mingyuan, stood up dazedly to pack his things and rune stones, stood up dazedly to pack his rune stones, the expression on his face having completely given up on any struggle.

"Leaving now? It's already completely dark outside." Xu Liujing, having just woken up, was stimulated into a bit of sobriety. He glanced out the window; night had completely descended, and only the residual magical glow on those few stone pillars above the distant square was still shining.

The outline of the skull at the top of the tallest stone pillar had already melted into the night and was no longer visible.

"Actually, we can stay, but I don't guarantee that the few of us plus the wizards of the Old Capital can beat the great-grandson of the God of Toads." Xie Feng shoved the scroll back into his arms, turned, pushed open the door, and walked out first.

The group left the south gate of the Old Capital and walked south along the permafrost path outside the city wall.

Something swept silently through mid-air.

It glided silently from the night sky in the direction of the Old Capital, with a broad wingspan that was almost completely transparent in the night, only kicking up a few tundra snowflakes when its wingtips brushed across the tops of the tree crowns.

The faceless head tilted slightly in the dark, looking at the group below who were passing through the dense forest and hurrying deep into the mountains.

It somehow looked like a lion?

Then it folded its wings and swept silently over the tree crowns.

Xie Feng walked at the very front of the group, constantly activating his Spell to search for any traces of mental fluctuations that might belong to Noph-Keh.

After walking for a distance, he suddenly discovered that the outlines of the surrounding mountains were completely different from the directions described when the snake-people tribe gave directions. That pine forest ahead was too short, and the pattern of gravel on the permafrost did not match what was marked on the map.

"Where the hell did this bring me again??"

Lu Mingyuan squatted down, pressed his fingertips against the permafrost, and sensed for a moment.

"I didn't sense anything, but the coordinates are indeed a bit wrong."

He used an uncertain tone because he truly hadn't perceived anything.

"Wait a minute! I've got a feeling, brothers! Let's go, go, go!"

Xie Feng's Spell suddenly reacted, and he began to run wildly.

"Are you out of your mind? You can fly!"

Tu Ziguan shouted from behind.

"Forgot, forgot! Go, go, go!"

The Cultivator above the Fourth Realm grabbed Xu Liujing and the others who couldn't fly, and rushed out.

Rushing out of the edge of the dense forest, a forest clearing appeared before their eyes.

A dozen crude animal-skin tents were crookedly pitched on the permafrost.

A group of primitive savages wearing animal skins and holding stone axes and javelins were locked in a desperate battle around an extremely huge Noph-Keh. (Image included)

The size of that Noph-Keh was larger than any Xie Feng had seen in the Northern Barrens; at a glance, it was an unweakened native breed.

Six thick giant limbs supported it on the ground, the three claws at the end of each giant limb deeply embedded in the permafrost, and the pair of giant horns on top of its head were stained with wood chips and dark red blood.

Two animal-skin savages were flung flying by it, crashed into the fence, and slid to the ground, but its own movements had also become obviously sluggish, and the low roar in its mouth had turned from initial anger into painful, heavy panting.

Javelins were still raining down on Noph-Keh.

Seeing Xie Feng and the others, those savages thought they were here to snatch their prey and began to scold loudly.

Taking the opportunity, that injured Noph-Keh retreated two steps, turning its giant horns toward the position between the savages and Xie Feng, its six giant limbs stepping unsteadily on the permafrost, and a wary purr sounding from its throat.

Its dark red eyes, deeply sunken in white long fur, looked at the savages and then at Xie Feng. Obviously, it hadn't figured out whether this newly rushed-out group of people was here to help or to deal the finishing blow.

"Stop fighting! That's a protected animal, do you know that?!"

Xie Feng shouted loudly with his mouth open.

Several savages turned their heads, still holding stone axes in their hands, their faces stained with Noph-Keh's blood, their expressions changing from fanatical combat excitement to confusion.

Tu Ziguan lunged out from behind: "Hit it again! Hit it again and I'll give every single one of you savages a slap in the face!"

The savages didn't understand this sentence.

Silence reigned over the clearing.

Noph-Keh: "?"

Savages: "?"
