110: Chapter 110 The Green Toad with a Belly Full of Mischief

Xie Feng pressed the last piece of runic stone into the third leakage node at the edge of the Seal path.

Matching the original circuit marked previously by Wenren Jingming, the aura of decay fluctuated violently on the surface of the Seal barrier, the leakage port was resealed, and the skeletal layer of Shituolin Swamp churned unwillingly a few times beneath the Seal before slowly sinking back to its original depth.

Several old Cultivators from the Ministry of Works looked at each other and finally let out a sigh of relief.

Xu Liujing placed the remaining runic stones in his hand on the edge of the path.

"This should be fine now."

Wenren Jingming pushed up his microchip glasses: "For now, yes."

Xie Feng withdrew his hand from the last repaired runic node, tapped the tip of his cold crystal blind staff lightly against the bluestone bricks at the edge of the Seal path, and then took half a step back. He spread out his Qi perception again, scanning the entire repaired Seal barrier from start to finish.

The three artificially tampered runic nodes had been reactivated, and new runic stones were embedding themselves into the Seal structure. In a little while, they would absorb the earthly leyline spiritual power at the bottom of the Seal to stabilize themselves. By then, unless another high-level Cultivator forcibly dismantled it from the outside, it wouldn't be something the mouth of a Shaggai Insect could chew through.

"Brother Xie." Xu Liujing stood on the other side of the path, still clutching half an unused runic stone, his tone a bit uncertain. "These nodes have just been reactivated. Should we recheck them? Just in case there's still a leak, we...?"

"No need." Xie Feng interrupted him. "It should be about done."

As soon as he finished speaking, the Hedonistic Faction Shaggai Insect in his head curled up deep within the choroid plexus of his lateral ventricle, emitting an extremely satisfied and lingering mental fluctuation.

Xie Feng instinctively scorched it lightly with a trace of Cthugha's heat.

"If you have something to say, spit it out."

Xie Feng could almost feel the tactile sensation of its chitinous shell rubbing back and forth deep within the choroid plexus of his lateral ventricle.

The Shaggai Insect comfortably rolled back over before speaking unhurriedly: "The Hedonistic Faction is also arriving."

"What is your Hedonistic Faction here for? Wasn't it only the God-Worshiping Faction targeting me? Now that the God-Worshiping Faction is fighting to the death with the Imperial Guards outside, is the Hedonistic Faction coming to be reinforcements for them?"

The Shaggai Insect in his head emitted an extremely disdainful mental fluctuation.

"The God-Worshiping Faction are religious madmen, and we of the Hedonistic Faction are artists. Although artists and religious madmen are both Shaggai, we are different from them. They want sacrifices, and we want enjoyment.

Do you know how intense the pain can erupt when a person is eroded by the uncanny? That kind of pain is like celestial wine to us.

Once Shituolin Swamp is released, everyone in the entire imperial city will become living skeletons eroded by the uncanny. That scene... that pain... tsk tsk."

Xie Feng felt that this bunch of bugs were truly all madmen, not a single one normal. Still, he asked: "Then why are you telling me? Aren't you from the Hedonistic Faction?"

The bug in his head suddenly fell silent. After a long silence, it slowly rolled over deep within Xie Feng's choroid plexus, letting out an extremely muffled and extremely satisfied sigh.

"The crazier you get, the more exhilarating it is; the more exhilarating, the crazier you get. Do you know to what extent your pain energy has burst through the charts? It's a hundred times more painful than the most miserable parasite host I've ever seen."

The bug continued: "As long as I can keep eating this kind of pain, what Hedonistic Faction, what God-Worshiping Faction? Absolute loyalty lacking means absolute disloyalty. Betraying the Hedonistic Faction is the highest tribute to pain; heaven and earth will destroy any insect that isn't for itself."

Because Xie Feng's pain was too rich, this bastard bug unhesitatingly became a double-dealing insect traitor.

These words completely stunned Xie Feng; he didn't even know whether he should celebrate living such a miserable life.

"What is your name."

"Even if I told you, you wouldn't understand. Your vocal organs cannot produce the third scale of the Shaggai language."

Xie Feng thought about it.

This bug was now living in his head, feeding on his negative emotions and acting as an insect traitor selling out its compatriots. Following the convention of Cthulhu TRPGs, Xie Feng truly had the qualification to name such a thing.

"Then from now on, you shall be called Brain Matter."

The bug immediately protested, saying this was an insult, and that they were the great Insects from Shaggai, not some slimy cranial cavity filler.

"Then I'll call you the Hedonistic Faction undercover agent cum traitor cum negative emotion addict cum our temporary intelligence officer."

After Xie Feng finished speaking, he caught his breath.

"Abbreviated as Brain Matter still."

Silence.

Then the bug wriggled again deep within his choroid plexus, surprisingly offering no protest this time.

"Your brain isn't quite normal either, so Brain Matter it is. Anyway, just throw more tantrums, ramp up the pressure, and give me more negative emotions in the future."

"Fuck off."

Xie Feng did not continue the topic about names.

He steered the topic back to the Hedonistic Faction's action plan. Brain Matter told him all the intelligence in detail, carrying a matter-of-factly brisk tone.

The Hedonistic Faction was planning to open a Spacetime Gate directly over, and the target coordinates of the gate were those very runic nodes that the God-Worshiping Faction had tampered with at the bottom of the Seal earlier.

The God-Worshiping Faction tampering with the runic nodes was not only to weaken the Seal, but more importantly, to leave spatial beacons for the Hedonistic Faction. The Seal runes were simultaneously a summoning coordinate already embedded in this area.

After listening, an idea rotten to the core gradually emerged in Xie Feng's mind.

"So they're going to open a Spacetime Gate from the runic nodes to come in?"

"Right. Wait, what are you laughing at?"

Xie Feng didn't explain further. He turned around, turned his back to the Seal path, and faced the runic nodes that had just been repaired, his right fingertips beginning to trace extremely fine and steady silver-white runic circuits.

He slowly began to use the Spell he had newly learned.

This was the universal teleportation Spell—Spacetime Gate—which he only learned after being locked under the imperial library for a few days, and which the Great Old Ones fought over to take orders for.

When practicing earlier, opening a gate once resulted in Cthugha, Cthulhu, and Tsathoggua jointly hijacking the line, making him so angry that he smashed his notes onto the ground and stomped on them several times.

Now, the reinforced runic node beneath his feet was just right for opening a few more gates.

"Brain Matter, help me monitor a real-time mental fluctuation location. For things like your neural network, I can temporarily only sense you in my head. Sense out the real-time coordinates of the Hedonistic Faction opening their gate, and tell me when they connect."

The Shaggai Insect acknowledged in the choroid plexus, while simultaneously beginning to wonder why Xie Feng wanted to open another Spacetime Gate.

A blue light portal appeared on the already repaired sealing node, opened compactly and with restraint, precisely wedged right above the runic aftermath.

Immediately followed by another gate, then a third and a fourth. The gates in all four directions were different, all wedged into those utilized nodes within the grand array, perfectly intercepting all simultaneous teleportations.

The other end of these few portals—needless to think—definitely wasn't Shituolin Swamp as the Hedonistic Faction anticipated.

The gates opened by Xie Feng were directly facing the gates of the Hedonistic Faction Insects from Shaggai. As long as they dared to crawl through, they would plunge headfirst into Xie Feng's Spell.

And the destinations of Xie Feng's Spacetime Gate were not friendly at all.

The surface of a star filled with red light, a dark and lazy underground cavern, a pitch-black and damp ocean city, verdant mountain valleys and rivers.

Four sceneries continuously flashed across Xie Feng's Spacetime Gates.

The territories of the four Great Old Ones slowly opened their giant maws.

Didn't the Hedonistic Faction like thrills? Xie Feng was ready to let them experience them all at once.

"Heh—heh—heh!"
