21: Chapter 21 unveils the mystery and offers a glimpse into the universe.

Inside the mirrors on both sides of the corridor, countless reflections simultaneously stopped all movement. They no longer peeked, no longer waited, and the faces of all the reflections turned toward Xie Feng at the same time.

"It is resisting looking at me."

Xie Feng instantly realized his own problem.

Wen Yushu did not reply. At this moment, complaining was already too late; what needed to be done was to assist Xie Feng.

Now, the anomaly must be further weakened so that Xie Feng could successfully induce the anomaly to meet his gaze.

The spiritual power longsword had already flown out of his hand, stabbing toward the ceiling of the corridor.

The moment the sword tip nailed into the mirror overhead, the longsword exploded, and Gu Jian directly stepped on Wen Yushu's back from behind, rising into the air.

He took out a wood-carved spirit sword, placed it under his tongue, and danced the longsword in his hand into a mass of black light, shattering the surrounding mirrors one after another.

The two Prodigy erupted with Spiritual Qi, exhausting all their methods.

The silver-white patterns of the entire corridor violently spasmed simultaneously.

Those reflections that had turned toward Xie Feng were forced into a Divided Soul for a split second, yet they were still not attracted to Xie Feng.

"Not enough!" Xie Feng quickly shouted loudly, "It is still hesitating!"

It was indeed hesitating; the faces of countless reflections were turned toward Xie Feng, but not a single one looked directly into his eyes.

They looked at his forehead, his chin, his shoulders, and his hands.

Solely avoiding his pupils.

Avoiding the veil of The Guide.

The moment Xie Feng felt that strange gaze fall upon his face, the temperature of the entire corridor plummeted abruptly.

It was not the coolness on the surface of the mirrors, but a deeper chill that seeped from the skin into the bone marrow.

The vague thing deep within the mirror surface finally moved.

Silver-white patterns gushed out from the largest mirror at the end of the corridor, transforming into countless silver-white threads.

Each one was as thick as an arm, its surface covered with dense, fractured lens-like patterns, and its tip split open to reveal the suction cup on the inside.

Inside the suction cups were faces shrunk to the extreme.

It had waited.

It had waited for this opportunity; Wen Yushu and Gu Jian's Spiritual Qi, if not exhausted, was already left with very little.

The tentacles did not attack Xie Feng.

They bypassed Xie Feng and surged toward Wen Yushu and Gu Jian.

This was its goal! To divide and conquer the three of them!

It knew that the thing within Xie Feng's eyes would only trigger upon eye contact; as long as they didn't look directly into Xie Feng's pupils, nothing would happen.

Wen Yushu's spiritual power longsword dissolved its condensation, the blade transforming into dozens of extremely thin spiritual power threads that shot out in all directions from the center of the explosion, with each thread nailing into a tentacle.

The moment the spiritual power threads pinned the tentacles in place, Gu Jian's sword arrived.

The black blade slashed across the fixed tentacles, gray-white liquid splattered, the tentacles broke, new tentacles gushed out from the broken ends, Wen Yushu's spiritual power threads pinned them down once more, and Gu Jian's sword slashed down again.

But the tentacles grew more and more numerous, and silver-white arms and faces continuously crammed into the narrow corridor.

The distorted creations gushing out from the mirror at the end had already filled half the corridor.

Wen Yushu pinning dozens of tentacles simultaneously with his spiritual power threads was already his limit, and more tentacles coiled around him, entwining Gu Jian.

They even gushed out from the mirrors on both sides, blocking the retreat routes of the few.

Looking at the scene before him, Xie Feng mobilized all the Spiritual Qi of the Yingui Art, running his six Meridians to their limits simultaneously.

The spiritual light around his body suddenly surged wildly, resembling a ball of fire.

The anomaly's attention was forcibly pulled back.

The tentacles entwined around Wen Yushu and Gu Jian stopped simultaneously, as if pulled by invisible threads.

They hesitated, swaying back and forth between Xie Feng's spiritual light and Wen Yushu and Gu Jian.

At this moment, the light on Xie Feng's body abruptly weakened!

Xie Feng checked the six pathways within his body in panic; the Spiritual Qi within them was already less than ten percent.

Spiritual Qi was not enough!

The Realm at this moment became the greatest stumbling block!

At this moment, Xie Feng knew where his arrogance lay.

He had underestimated the native cultivation of this world.

Only the Fourth Realm could slay anomalies; this was not empty talk, and the mediocrity of the six Meridians was the greatest fault.

He always felt that having The Guide made everything okay, since the anomaly couldn't defeat Him anyway; he just needed to be careful of other Outer Gods, and make sure his cultivation wasn't too weak.

Yet Nyarlathotep's scheme had long since entangled Xie Feng's feet. Nyarlathotep hadn't even done anything; he merely gave a Magic Treasure that couldn't teleport. Xie Feng's contempt, his subconscious contempt for the anomaly, forced him to pay the price.

Wen Yushu and Gu Jian had reached their limits and were about to be dragged into the mirrors to die.

There was no more Spiritual Qi in Xie Feng's six Meridians; they were filled with panic, helplessness, exhaustion, pain, and remorse.

He fell to his knees on the ground, the light on his body resembling a candle about to dim.

Countless tentacles tightly surrounded him, their silver-white limbs reflecting light, resembling countless moths lingering around the firelight.

Wen Yushu and Gu Jian had been tightly entwined, half of their bodies pulled into the mirrors. Xie Feng could even hear the sound of the bones in their bodies being snapped by the constriction.

The crisp cracking sound was accompanied by his fellow disciples' muffled groans. Silver-white patterns crawled all over their bodies, and crimson blood was squeezed out by the threads, seeping into the middle of the shattered mirrors.

The miserable scene reflected the pathetic ending of the few youths...

An angry roar lacked the elegance and detachment of a Young Master whose jade-like presence graced the world.

"Xie Feng!"

He raised his head.

Before being pulled into the mirror, Wen Yushu extended a hand.

And brandished a letter.

In an instant.

Xie Feng calmed down.

Xie Feng opened his eyes, aligning his pupils with the vague thing deep within the mirror surface.

"Heh... Won't look at me?"

He raised his right hand, his five fingers curling.

The moment his nails pierced into his eye sockets, what he felt was not pain, but coolness.

Just like the coolness on the surface of the mirror, smooth and icy cold, seeping from his eyeballs into his fingertips.

His fingers touched his own eyeballs, smooth and wet, trembling slightly within his eye sockets.

"It is like its hair when I first encountered the anomaly."

Xie Feng thought.

He yanked outward.

In an instant, light gushed out from his eye sockets.

That was the kind of light on The Guide's veil.

A soft, quiet light that contained all colors yet possessed no temperature whatsoever.

Light gushed out from his left eye socket and his right eye socket, slowly unfolding like an extremely thin veil.

"Let me tell you a little-known setting."

Inside the entire corridor, only Xie Feng's voice echoed.

"Lifting the veil of Tawil at-Umr will make one go mad upon seeing the vast and distant Universe behind it!"

All the mirrors in the corridor stopped simultaneously.

The silver-white tentacles stopped writhing.

Those distorted faces on the inside of the suction cups stopped screaming.

They all turned toward Xie Feng.

The anomaly in the mirror finally looked directly at him.

Not that it wanted to.

It had no choice but to look!

Then the mirror anomaly began to burn.

Light seeped out from the edges of its outline, soft, quiet, and unstoppable.

Its body peeled away layer by layer in the light, and gray-white wax oil gushed out from deep within the mirror surface.

The wax oil filled the entire mirror, overflowing from the edges, pouring onto the ground and onto the mirror surfaces on both sides of the corridor.

Every mirror poured over by the wax oil began to burn.

Xie Feng's legs went soft, and he fell forward to his knees, passing out cold.

He was blind.
