141: Chapter 141 Those with abundant knowledge are worthy of execution.

Xie Feng flipped the stone tablet over, his fingers rapidly running across the indentations on the back that had been corroded by seawater.

There were no nine giant stones—let alone boulders larger than six square meters, there wasn't even a decent rockery stone to be found on the plaza of the Hall of Supreme Harmony.

The conditions for the Hastur release spell were not met!

There was no four-square-kilometer lake. The moat around the Imperial City had water, but a moat wasn't a lake, much less Black Water Lake.

The conditions for the Carcosa Construction Technique were not met either!

"The King in Yellow" did not contain the complete Hastur release spell either; the stone tablet itself was carved with excerpts from the play of The King in Yellow, not a summoning incantation.

When playing TRPGs back on Blue Star, Xie Feng had simulated the minimum setup for the Hastur summoning spell countless times, but the current conditions were more than a notch worse than even the minimum setup.

On the plaza, the Imperial Guards and the palace-storming Cultivators were still locked in a life-and-death struggle.

That white-haired old Enshrined Officer had already taken two palm strikes; his left arm hung limp at his side, unable to be raised, but he was still holding on with his right hand to block the Cultivators rushing toward the steps.

The Sect Master of Taixuan Sect had recovered from his initial shock, his seventh-realm spiritual energy fluctuations reconverging.

He could tell what Xie Feng was preparing, and he had no intention of giving Xie Feng any time.

"Brother Feng! Can you summon it or not?! That old bastard is about to make his move!" Tu Ziguan holstered his empty colt back at his waist, leaving only a final booby-trap mine in his hand.

"Wait for me to exploit a bug!"

The remaining Byakhee gathered around Xie Feng.

A direct kinship existed between the Byakhee and Hastur; among all the flying servitors in the cthulhu mythos, they were the loyal servants of The King in Yellow.

Each Byakhee could increase the success rate by ten percent. Xie Feng was well-versed in this, having done something similar back in Ranhuo City.

As long as he arranged them above the Hall of Supreme Harmony according to the positions of the summoning array, using their kin resonance with Hastur to substitute for the boulder resonance, he could forcibly exploit a spatial framework for a bare-minimum release spell.

"Get ready, Tu Wu! Close your eyes, pierce your eardrums, and let Lu Mingyuan heal you afterward!"

This was the absolute limit of what could be done. Tu Ziguan trusted Xie Feng completely and immediately complied.

In the end, he even used his own spiritual energy to surge against his blood vessels, knocking himself unconscious.

"This is still useless! Even if the conditions are met, you don't know the Hastur release spell—how are you going to initiate the summoning?!"

Lu Mingyuan's voice reached his ears.

Xie Feng bit through his ten fingertips and rapidly drew a blood talisman on the surface of the stone tablet. Then, using the last bit of mana that had just recovered in his body, he recalled all ten Byakhee that were still slaughtering Cultivators on the plaza back to the skies above the Hall of Supreme Harmony.

It actually served no direct function; it was just insurance. If he couldn't summon it through normal means, Xie Feng was prepared to summon it through desecration.

Just buying a little time.

Once the problem was solved, he would immediately use the Fog Creation Technique to obscure Aldebaran and send The King in Yellow right back to wherever he came from.

The Byakhee spread their wing-membranes in midair, arranging themselves according to the guidance of his fingertips into the positions of the summoning array. Wingtip to wingtip, they formed a perfectly standard decagon directly beneath Aldebaran.

Ten Byakhee formed a giant V-shape, with the extra one standing in the center, already twisted into a chaotic yellow sign shape.

It let out a hoarse, terrifying, yet honored cry.

The Haunter of the Dark inside his left eye socket snapped open, its three-lobed pupil shining as bright as a lamp.

It was watching, and The King in Yellow was also watching what was happening on this plaza.

Deep within the stone tablet, a bright yellow mark began to throb silently, synchronizing in resonance with the Byakhee's wing-membranes in the sky.

"When conditions are lacking, create the conditions yourself! Isn't that the most basic quality of a hardcore gamer?"

Xie Feng slammed the stone tablet onto the steps, his left index finger slowly running across the incantations on the edge of the tablet, which had been eroded into blurriness by Lord Cthulhu's aura.

"The incantations and characters on it are incomplete. Can you succeed?"

Lu Mingyuan turned back and shouted.

That was looking down a bit on our great KP Xie Feng. What did it mean to be a die-hard enthusiast?

The incantations on the stone tablet were indeed rotted through from seawater, with strokes in several key syllables rendered unreadable, but back on Blue Star, he had flipped through the play script of "The King in Yellow" during TRPG sessions and could recite it backward word for word.

Every syllable, every pause, and every breath-taking juncture was etched into his brain.

He slammed the stone tablet forcefully onto the steps, raised his head, and faced that bright yellow canopy of sky above the Hall of Supreme Harmony.

"The fallen King who preys upon the gods, the obscured sun, the trembling and horrified bones of the earth gods, the halted stars, while the Hyades stand as cold as frost.

For they have seen the King, a deity manifesting with his great power, who feeds upon his father and feeds upon his mother to live.

The Lord of Wisdom is the King.

The glory of the King illuminates the sky, and his power, boundless and infinite, is inscribed in the stone.

Ουδειζ ορασα με,γαρ εσομαι αοροτοζωζ εξαφισταμαιΚαρκωσαζ.Τρηχυαι ομιχηλαικρυπτει με,και οστιζ ανδιερχονταιεσονται τυφλον."

(Not padding word count, this is the actual play script and prayer of The King in Yellow, just with incorrect phrasing because I'm afraid of actually summoning him.)

When the first section of the original canonical incantation left his mouth, the air across the entire Hall of Supreme Harmony plaza shuddered simultaneously.

Space itself was responding to this incantation.

Aldebaran in the bright yellow sky canopy suddenly brightened, becoming almost blindingly radiant as three extremely fine, dense, tentacle-like lines of light began expanding outward from the star's edges.

Deep within the sky canopy, something was opening its eyes at an extremely slow and heavy pace.

Standing at Xie Feng's side, Lu Mingyuan's facial expression transformed from "What time do you think it is to be reciting passages?" to complete and utter shock.

Although he was a Yithian, and although the library of the Great Race of Yith housed knowledge of countless Universes, he had never seen with his own eyes a human summon The King in Yellow using nothing but pure human vocal cords with zero preparation.

Was this really something a human could accomplish? Just how much forbidden knowledge was stuffed inside this guy's head?

Xie Feng continued reciting, from the second section to the third, his pronunciation impeccably precise.

The face of the Sect Master of Taixuan Sect finally changed.

Astonishment.

He sensed that the entity descending from deep within the bright yellow sky canopy was completely different from any anomaly, any Cultivator, or any power system he had witnessed in his entire life.

It was not spiritual energy from the Nine Provinces, nor was it the rules of anomalies.

It was a pure existence itself, older than heaven and earth.

Above the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the ten Byakhee simultaneously threw back their heads and let out piercing, resonant screeches. Under the bright yellow light of Aldebaran, their wing-membranes vibrated violently, turning into the cornerstone of the summoning array to slowly anchor the descending bright yellow figure from deep within the sky canopy out of the Void Realm.

Xie Feng slowly rose from the steps, finished reading the final section of the incantation on the stone tablet, and gently pressed his hand against it.

He let Brain Matter use magic to reactivate the yellow sign on his body once again.

"By the resonance of Aldebaran and the Byakhee, I respectfully invite the Lord of the Deep Space and Starry Seas to descend."
