268: I want them all!
Inside the presidential suite, the soaring Battle Intent nearly tore off the ceiling.
Nearly ten Kunlun Students surrounded the human-skin doll, which was tied up like a zongzi. Excitement and greed filled each of their faces, as if they weren't discussing a Late Golden Core Stage great demon that had lived for thousands of years, but rather a mobile mountain of gold.
"Nine tails. We each get one, and the remaining one goes to Qiqi. It'll be perfect for making a whip."
"A whip is so boring. I think we should take it apart. The bones can be made into Flying Swords, and the fox fur into Talisman brushes. Those are top-grade Materials!"
"That makes sense, that makes sense…"
Everyone chattered excitedly, already gleefully dividing the spoils of war.
The small demon, bound to the ground by the spirit binding rope, listened to the unbridled discussion of these madmen, its entire soul nearly scattering from fright.
It had originally thought its plan to kill with a borrowed knife was flawless, but now it seemed it had brought a group of even more terrifying Dragons across the river to its boss's territory.
Just then, an unexpected change occurred!
Buzz buzz buzz —
Inside the suite, everyone's phones vibrated violently at the same time, and piercing emergency news push notifications rang out in unison.
"What's going on?"
Iron Pillar Zhao pulled out his phone in confusion and unlocked the screen.
The next second, his expression changed drastically.
"Damn it!"
With an angry curse, he shoved the phone screen in front of everyone.
On the screen, a highly shaky video, filmed by a resident of a tall building, was playing.
The background of the video was the most bustling street in Sapporo, Hokkaido, but at this moment, that street had turned into Hell on Earth.
Screams, cries, and the piercing alarms of cars mixed together.
A humanoid monster with a bird's beak and two wings on its back was swooping down from mid-air, easily snatching a running pedestrian, flying high into the sky, and tearing them to shreds amidst their mournful screams.
In another video, by a dirty sewer, a Kappa, completely green with a plate on its head, suddenly darted out of the water, dragging a passing girl into the dark sewer. Only a string of blood-colored Qi bubbles remained on the water's surface.
Similar videos and images spread wildly across the internet like a virus.
The entire Hokkaido, and even other regions of Japan, seemed to have opened the gates of Hell at the same time.
Countless demons, ghosts, and monsters from myths and legends crawled out of deep mountains, ancient temples, and dark corners, unleashing a bloody carnival in the cities.
"Night Parade of One Hundred Demons…"
A student from the Magic Cultivation Department murmured, his face a little pale.
Inside the suite, the previously boisterous atmosphere instantly froze, replaced by a suffocating silence.
"It's Tamamo-no-Mae."
Zhang Qiqi's voice broke the silence. Her tone was calm, but those who knew her could hear the anger contained within it.
"She sensed us. She's using the lives of these Mortals to buy time, or force us to split our forces."
"Damn it! That old fox!"
Iron Pillar Zhao punched the wall, and the reinforced concrete wall immediately cracked like a spiderweb.
"What are we waiting for? Let's go out and fight them! I can't hold back anymore!"
His eyes were bloodshot, and he turned to rush out.
"Stop!"
Zhang Qiqi shouted at him.
"Don't be rash!"
A student from the Talisman Department also quickly spoke up. He forced himself to calm down and analyze.
"This is an open conspiracy! Tamamo-no-Mae is a Late Golden Core Stage great demon. She knows very well that these small demons can't stop us. Her goal is to exhaust us, to make us rush to rescue these Mortals, thereby buying herself the most precious time!"
"So what?" Iron Pillar Zhao suddenly turned back and roared, "Are we just going to watch these Mortals be slaughtered? We are Kunlun Cultivation Academy Students! Not a bunch of executioners who only know how to claim military achievements!"
These words silenced everyone present.
Yes, they could slay demons and monsters for contribution points and cultivation resources.
But their Dao Heart would not allow them to ignore the tragedy unfolding before their eyes.
For a moment, everyone was in a dilemma.
Should they give up the easily obtainable "big experience package" and disperse their forces to save the Mortals?
Or should they disregard everything, go straight for the Dragon's lair, and capture the leader first?
"No need to choose."
Just as everyone was struggling internally, Zhang Qiqi suddenly spoke.
She surveyed the room, her cold gaze sweeping over the face of every classmate.
"Only children make choices. Our Kunlun Academy has always wanted it all."
Everyone was stunned.
Zhang Qiqi continued in her emotionless voice.
"She wants us to split our forces, so we'll show her we can split."
"Iron Pillar Zhao."
"Here!" Iron Pillar Zhao subconsciously straightened his back.
"You, and everyone else," Zhang Qiqi's gaze swept over everyone except Li Qingyuan and Tang Ruoling, "immediately split up into groups of three and clear out the demons and monsters throughout Hokkaido."
"Remember, your mission is not to get entangled with them, but to eliminate them all with the fastest speed and highest efficiency."
Her voice was not loud, but it carried an undeniable decisiveness.
"It's also a good opportunity to show Japan, and the whole world, how our Kunlun Academy Students 'boost their performance'."
"Yes!"
Iron Pillar Zhao and the others responded in unison, the hesitation and struggle in their eyes replaced by burning Battle Intent.
To Hell with difficult choices!
The Dean's teachings still echoed in their ears: Don't be a coward, just do it!
This was the Kunlun Academy style!
"What about you three?" Iron Pillar Zhao looked at Zhang Qiqi, Li Qingyuan, and Tang Ruoling, asking with some concern.
"Us?"
The corner of Zhang Qiqi's mouth curved slightly upward.
She bent down and picked up the completely dazed human-skin doll from the ground, as if carrying a chicken to be slaughtered.
"We're going to raid that old fox's lair."
As her words fell, the entire suite fell silent.
Everyone looked at Zhang Qiqi, Li Qingyuan, and Tang Ruoling with expressions as if they were looking at madmen.
Three people?
Three Foundation Establishment Stage cultivators?
To solo a Late Golden Core Stage nine-tailed demon fox that had lived for thousands of years?
This was no longer confidence; this was arrogance!
However, looking at Zhang Qiqi's terrifyingly calm face, and the same burning, crazy Battle Intent in Li Qingyuan and Tang Ruoling's eyes, no one questioned it.
Because they knew, this was how Kunlun's people were.
"Alright! Be careful!"
Iron Pillar Zhao took a deep breath and nodded heavily.
"Brothers! Let's go! Let's have a showdown with these beasts!"
He waved his hand and was the first to rush out of the suite.
The other students followed closely, transforming into streaks of light, leaping out of the hotel windows, and heading to various corners of Hokkaido.
In a blink of an eye, only Zhang Qiqi, Li Qingyuan, Tang Ruoling, and the human-skin doll, which was shaking so much it was about to fall apart, remained in the spacious suite.
Li Qingyuan walked to the window, looking at the rolling black smoke and soaring flames rising from the city below, and took a deep breath.
"Qiqi, are we really… going with just the three of us?"
"Otherwise?" Zhang Qiqi countered.
She walked up to the small demon, looking down at it.
"Lead the way."
