59: You know shit!
The Magic City, Peace Hotel.
"family members (audience), who understands!"
"It's the third day of the holiday, and I absolutely have to come to this legendary Peace Hotel to have a feast!"
Han Li held up his phone, the camera sweeping across the luxurious and elegant restaurant, then focused on the sizzling prime Wagyu beef in front of him.
He grinned, revealing his two signature canine teeth.
The barrage of comments in the live stream instantly exploded.
【Holy crap! The Streamer went all out! Peace Hotel?】
【Great Master Han Li has made it! He's finally not gnawing on compressed biscuits in haunted houses!】
【This meal must cost a month's salary, right? Streamer, please take me with you!】
【Did the debunking Streamer switch to being a food Streamer? Unfollowed, unfollowed (manual dog head emoji)】
Han Li looked at the comments, chuckled, picked up his knife and fork, and was about to start eating when a faint, chilling sensation crept up his spine.
He paused, instinctively looking towards the source of the feeling.
At the next table sat a pair of grandparents; an elder who looked to be nearly seventy, full of vigor, dressed in a refined Tang suit, and beside him a seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl, sweet-faced but with a hint of arrogance in her brows.
The problem lay with a sheathed iron sword leaning by the elder's hand.
The scabbard was ancient and of an unknown material, but wisps of Evil Qi were constantly leaking from the gaps in the hilt, like invisible venomous snakes, coiling around the elder's arm.
Han Li's brows furrowed.
After a month of studying at Kunlun Academy, he was no longer the naive youth who only believed in science.
If a Mortal touched even a bit of this stuff, he would fall seriously ill. Yet, this old man carried it with him every day?
Was he courting death?
"Cough."
Han Li cleared his throat, leaning slightly forward, and spoke to the next table.
"Elder, if I may be so bold, this sword of yours..."
The elder and the girl turned to look at him upon hearing his voice.
"Is there a problem?" the girl spoke first, her tone carrying a hint of wariness and scrutiny.
"It's like this," Han Li organized his words, "Your sword, the Evil Qi is a bit heavy. Wearing it for a long time... isn't good for your body."
As soon as he spoke, the air instantly fell silent.
The girl's face immediately darkened. She scrutinized Han Li from head to toe, as if he were a Jianghu swindler.
"Who are you? What do you know?"
"This is a precious sword that my family specifically invited a Master to bless. It can cut iron like mud! How can it become an inauspicious object in your mouth?"
The elder also spoke slowly, his tone calm but carrying a sense of condescension.
"Young man, have you read too many Wuxia novels?"
"There's no such thing as Evil Qi in this world, it's just nonsense."
Han Li was choked speechless.
Well, his good intentions were taken for granted.
The comments in his live stream started flooding the screen again.
【Hahaha, the Streamer trying to debunk was taken as a fake!】
【A live-action fail, I screenshotted it!】
【Great Master Han Li: I'm a professional! Elder: You're nothing!】
Han Li's mouth twitched. Just as he was about to explain further, a black-clad bodyguard standing behind the elder cast an unfriendly glance at him. The man's temples bulged, clearly indicating he was a trained martial artist.
"Forget it, forget it."
Han Li waved his hand at the live stream and sat back up straight.
"I've said all I can. If they don't believe me, there's nothing I can do."
"family members (audience), never mind them, let's eat!"
He no longer paid attention to the next table, picked up his knife and fork, cut a piece of tender and juicy beef, and put it into his mouth.
"Mmm! Absolutely amazing!"
"This beef melts in your mouth and is full of milky flavor! Brothers, you must try it if you come to the Magic City!"
As he ate, he joked and chatted with the viewers in his live stream, as if nothing had happened.
However, his peripheral vision kept unconsciously glancing at the iron sword.
He could clearly "see" that the sinister Evil Qi was no longer content to merely coil around the elder's arm, but was like a living thing, slowly drilling along his Meridians towards his heart.
Something was going to happen.
This thought popped into Han Li's mind.
Just then, the elder at the next table suddenly began to cough violently.
"Cough! Cough, cough, cough..."
The coughing was rapid and urgent, as if he was trying to cough out his lungs.
"Grandpa! What's wrong?"
The girl immediately panicked, quickly getting up to pat the elder's back.
The attention of other diners in the restaurant was also drawn over.
"It's nothing... an old problem..." The elder waved his hand, trying to force himself to sit up straight, but his face had visibly turned ashen.
"Quick! Call an ambulance!" The girl was so anxious she was almost in tears, shouting at the bodyguard.
The bodyguard immediately pulled out his phone, fumbling to dial.
But it was all too late.
"Pfft—"
The elder suddenly bent forward, a mouthful of dark red blood, mixed with black wisps, sprayed onto the clean white tablecloth.
The bloodstain was shocking.
Immediately after, his body went limp, and he slid straight down from the chair, passing out.
"Grandpa!"
The girl let out a mournful cry, and the entire restaurant instantly plunged into chaos.
The gasps of diners, the shouts of waiters, and the girl's cries intertwined.
Han Li put down his knife and fork.
He looked at the puddle of black blood, his heart sinking.
Evil Qi had entered his body and attacked his heart.
In another three minutes, not even an immortal could save him.
Save, or not save?
A thought raced wildly in his mind.
If he saved him, how would he explain it? Expose his identity? The Dean had repeatedly warned them not to easily expose themselves in the Mortal world.
Not save him?
A human life would be lost right before his eyes.
Moreover, the Dean also said that when encountering demons causing harm, one should strike them down; when encountering Mortals in distress, one should help them.
Did this count as distress?
"Damn it!"
Han Li cursed under his breath, and the scales in his heart immediately tilted.
Contribution points! I want contribution points!
He suddenly stood up, his chair sliding backward with a harsh screech.
"Everyone, move aside!"
He roared, pushing aside the onlookers, and rushed to the elder's side in a few steps.
"What do you want to do!"
The girl, with red eyes, blocked his way, both startled and angry.
"Get lost! If anything happens to my grandpa, I'll fight you to the death!"
The black-clad bodyguard also reacted, stepping in front of Han Li, his large, fan-like hand reaching for his shoulder.
"Kid, I warn you not to mess around!"
"If you don't want him to die, then get out of my way!"
Han Li slapped away the bodyguard's hand with such force that the burly man stumbled.
He ignored both of them, directly pulling out a yellow talisman from his 懷裡.
On the talisman, profound runes were drawn with cinnabar. This was precisely the [Spirit Condensing Talisman] that he had successfully drawn after hundreds of attempts at the Academy.
"What do you know!"
Han Li snarled, his hand clutching the talisman, about to press it onto the elder's forehead.
