61: Thunder Magic Kills Demons
Han Li waved his hand casually and turned to walk out of the Peace Hotel.
Behind him, there was a deathly silence.
Zhao Lingxuan was still kneeling on the ground, her face alternating between green and white. The humiliation she felt earlier and the shock she felt now intertwined, making her wish she could find a hole to crawl into.
Master? Great Master?
She had just pointed at the nose of a True God and called him a liar?
Zhao Yuanshan sighed deeply, not helping his granddaughter up.
Some things, one only understands the immensity of the world after experiencing them firsthand. He looked at the doorway where Han Li had disappeared. This young man, from beginning to end, had not even given their Zhao family a proper glance.
That wasn't arrogance, but a thorough indifference stemming from a difference in life-level.
Just like a Dragon, he wouldn't care about the offense of an ant under his feet.
"Grandpa..." Zhao Lingxuan finally found her voice, with a choked sob.
Zhao Yuanshan shook his head, saying nothing... As he walked out of the Peace Hotel, the hot wind outside blew, and Han Li suddenly slapped his thigh.
"Damn it!"
"I forgot to ask about the origin of that broken sword!"
That thing could generate such dense Yin Sha Qi; it was definitely not a Mortal item. Behind it, there might be some Demonic evil involved.
Those were all walking contribution points!
He missed it just like that!
The more Han Li thought about it, the angrier he got, feeling like he had missed out on a hundred million.
"I lost out, I lost big time!"
He scratched his hair in annoyance, eventually only able to curse and walk away.
At the same time.
A thousand miles away in Chengdu.
On the bustling Chunxi Road commercial street, Li Qingyuan was walking aimlessly.
Around her were well-dressed men and women, and the air was filled with a mixed scent of hotpot and perfume.
All of this felt out of place for her.
She touched her empty pocket, where only a crumpled ten-yuan bill remained.
A burning hunger gnawed at her stomach.
She hadn't eaten all day.
Having fallen out with her family and had her living expenses cut off, she couldn't bring herself to go home.
Nor could she bring herself to ask her roommate, Zhang Qiqi.
Li Qingyuan's pride wouldn't allow her to do that.
She looked up and saw a lavishly decorated Sichuan restaurant.
After much hesitation, she finally walked in.
"Welcome."
At the front desk, a middle-aged woman with permed hair and a plump figure was cracking melon seeds and scrolling through short videos, responding without lifting her head.
Li Qingyuan walked up to her and asked softly, a little nervously.
"Auntie, hello, excuse me... are you still hiring here?"
"Or, could I wash dishes for you? Just... just a meal would be fine."
By the end, her voice was as thin as a mosquito's hum.
The woman finally looked up, her heavily-lined eyes scrutinizing Li Qingyuan from head to toe.
She saw Li Qingyuan's clothes, which were clean but a bit wrinkled, and the girl's excessively beautiful face.
The woman pouted, spitting a melon seed shell into the trash can with a "pah."
"Hiring? Hiring what kind of person? Someone like you?"
Her tone instantly became sharp and acrimonious.
"Little girl, you're so young and quite pretty, why don't you learn to be good?"
Li Qingyuan was stunned.
"Auntie, I... I don't understand what you mean."
"Don't understand?" The woman sneered, her voice suddenly rising, drawing the attention of several nearby tables.
"Dressed like a human, but running into our high-end restaurant, saying you want to wash dishes for food? Who are you trying to fool!"
"I think you, ah, tried to hook up with a rich man but failed, and got dumped, didn't you?"
"Now you're out of money, so you want to come here and act out a sob story? This isn't a homeless shelter!"
The malicious words, like needles, fiercely pierced Li Qingyuan's heart.
Her face instantly flushed crimson, and her body trembled slightly with anger.
"You... what nonsense are you talking about!"
"I'm talking nonsense?" The woman, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, suddenly stood up from her chair, hands on her hips, spittle flying.
"I hit the nail on the head, and now you're enraged, aren't you? What, you want to hit me?"
"Look at your shabby appearance! Get out of here! Don't be an eyesore and affect our business!"
Whispers and laughs of people enjoying the show came from around them.
Li Qingyuan felt as if she had been stripped naked and thrown into a crowd for public display.
Humiliation, anger, grievance... all these emotions intertwined, making her almost lose control of the spiritual power within her body.
But she ultimately held back.
The Dean had said not to easily reveal her identity in front of Mortals.
She bit her lip tightly, already tasting a metallic hint of blood.
She said nothing, turned, and walked away.
Stepping out of the restaurant, the dazzling sunlight made her feel dizzy.
Hunger and anger drained her last bit of strength.
She leaned against the wall, slowly squatting down, feeling the whole world spinning.
Maybe... maybe I should call Qiqi?
As soon as the thought emerged, she stifled it.
No.
Absolutely not.
Just as she was sinking into despair.
"Boom—!!!"
An earth-shattering roar suddenly exploded from the restaurant behind her!
The entire glass wall of the restaurant facing the street was instantly shattered by a terrifying force!
Countless glass shards mixed with the debris of tables and chairs sprayed out like a torrential rain!
Pedestrians on the street let out terrified screams, scattering and fleeing.
Li Qingyuan stumbled from the shockwave, but she didn't run.
She sharply turned her head, looking at the chaotic restaurant.
A foul, viscous Demonic Qi shot up into the sky!
There were Demons!
This was the only thought left in her mind.
Slay Demons and eliminate evil!
Without hesitation, she went against the panicked crowd and rushed back into the restaurant!
The restaurant was in a mess, tables overturned, chairs scattered, and discarded belongings of diners everywhere.
The front desk woman, who had been so acrimonious just moments ago, was now slumped on the ground, her face ashen, her pants soaked, emitting a foul, pungent odor.
Her eyes were wide, pupils dilated, staring fixedly in the direction of the kitchen, her body trembling like a sieve.
"Monster... eating... eating people..."
She had seen it.
She had seen it with her own eyes.
A monster covered in green scales and possessing four arms rushed out from the back kitchen, grabbed a customer trying to escape, and directly shoved him into its fanged mouth.
The "crunch" of bones being chewed and the gory scene completely shattered her nerves.
"Heh..."
A non-human, hoarse laugh came.
The monster, having just finished eating, turned its head, and its scarlet eyes locked onto the only living thing on the ground.
The woman.
The monster bared its teeth, and viscous saliva dripped from its fangs onto the ground, corroding it with a "sizzling" white smoke.
It pushed off with its hind legs, its massive body transforming into an afterimage, pouncing towards the woman!
It was over.
The woman closed her eyes in despair.
Just at this critical moment!
A clear, cold female voice rang out in the chaotic restaurant.
"You beast, you seek death!"
Li Qingyuan had appeared in front of the woman at some point.
She quickly formed a complex hand seal with her hands in front of her chest, and blinding electric light glowed at her fingertips.
"Palm Thunder!"
"Boom!"
A thick bolt of lightning appeared out of thin air, carrying an aura of destruction, striking the monster in mid-air with precision!
The Demonic monster, at the third level of Qi Condensation, didn't even manage to let out a scream before it was instantly blasted into charcoal by the violent lightning!
The charred corpse fell to the ground with a "thud," shattering into a pile of dust.
The world became quiet.
The woman slowly opened her eyes, only to see a slender back shielding her.
Li Qingyuan slowly retracted her hand, not even looking back at the terrified woman.
She simply spoke calmly.
"It's not safe here. There should be other monsters nearby."
"If you want to live, leave quickly."
