153: Chapter 153 The house is haunted? No, the dog spent all that money!
Three minutes passed in a flash.
"Ding!"
With a crisp notification sound, the Lucky Bag draw results came out.
"Congratulations to our friend with the ID 'Late Night Anti-Theft' for grabbing today's second Lucky Bag."
Su Yun read out the winner's name, his eyebrows arching slightly.
Late Night Anti-Theft?
With a name like that, he sounds like someone with a story.
"Come, let's see what exactly this friend is trying to prevent."
Su Yun clicked the connection request.
A few seconds later, the screen flashed, and the connection was established.
Appearing on camera was a young man who looked to be around twenty-five or twenty-six.
But the young man's state could only be described as "wretched."
His hair was as messy as a bird's nest, his eyes were sunken, and his dark circles were heavier than a giant panda's; his face was full of exhaustion and anxiety.
The environment behind him looked like a bachelor apartment; the decor was quite modern, but it was a bit messy, with clothes piled on the sofa.
"Master! Master, help me!"
As soon as the connection was made, the young man started shouting at the camera, his voice carrying a hint of a sob.
"Don't worry, take your time," Su Yun waved his hand. "First, tell us your name."
"My name is Hou Hao, and I'm a programmer."
Hou Hao scratched his messy hair and said with a look of collapse, "Master, I suspect my house is haunted! And it's by a money-grubbing ghost!"
Hearing this, the audience in the livestream immediately perked up.
[Haunted? I'm familiar with this! The bus last time was haunted too, but it turned out to be the driver's doing.]
[What kind of ghost is a money-grubbing ghost? Stealing money but not beauty?]
[Looking at this guy's dark circles, he's probably been through a lot.]
Su Yun leaned back in his chair and looked at him with interest. "Tell me the details. How is it haunting you?"
Hou Hao took a deep breath, as if recalling something terrifying.
"Master, it's like this."
"Starting about half a month ago, the money in my bank card began to mysteriously disappear."
"At first, I didn't notice, thinking I had just bought something and forgotten a few transactions, but then I realized something was wrong."
"Every night, around two or three in the morning, my phone would receive a deduction SMS."
"The amounts weren't large—sometimes fifty, sometimes a hundred—and the most deducted at once was five hundred."
As Hou Hao spoke, he took out another phone and pulled up his billing records to show the camera.
"Master, look, these are all consumption records from two or three in the morning! And the recipients are all top-ups for some livestreaming platforms!"
Su Yun leaned in to take a look.
Indeed, the bill was densely packed with small expenditures, and the timing was very regular, all in the middle of the night.
"Maoya Livestream top-up: 50 yuan."
"Doushou Livestream top-up: 100 yuan."
"Kuaijiao Livestream top-up: 200 yuan."
Hou Hao pulled his phone back and cried out indignantly, "Master, I don't watch livestreams! I'm usually as tired as a dog from work and fall asleep as soon as I get home. I haven't even downloaded these apps on my phone!"
"And I live alone! Besides me, there isn't even a female mosquito in the house!"
"At first, I thought my phone had a virus or was being hacked."
"I formatted my phone, went to the bank to get a new card, and even changed my password."
"And guess what happened?"
Hou Hao's eyes widened, and his voice trembled. "Last night, it was deducted again! At the same time, for the same amount!"
"I clearly put my phone under my pillow last night! And I'm a heavy sleeper; I didn't wake up at all!"
"Master, if this isn't a haunting, then what is it? Could a ghost really unlock my fingerprint lock and enter a password?"
The more Hou Hao spoke, the more frightened he became. He couldn't help but shrink his neck and glance around.
The atmosphere in the livestream also became somewhat eerie.
[Holy crap, that's so spooky? It can still be charged after changing the card and password?]
[Taking a phone from under a pillow... if that's a person, how terrifying would that be?]
[Could it be sleepwalking? I've heard of people sleepwalking and getting up to cook for themselves.]
After listening to Hou Hao's description, Su Yun was in no hurry to draw a conclusion.
He lightly tapped his finger on the desk and thought to himself, "System, activate Tianji Divine Calculation. View the late-night footage in Hou Hao's home over the past half month."
"Retrieving relevant footage..."
The next second.
Countless images flashed through Su Yun's mind like a slideshow.
At first, Su Yun's expression was quite serious.
After all, these mysterious late-night deductions were indeed a bit creepy.
But as he watched, Su Yun's expression began to turn strange.
It felt as if he had seen something extremely absurd and ridiculous.
He pursed his lips, seemingly trying his best to endure something.
Finally, he couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out laughing with a "pfft."
This laugh made Hou Hao feel uneasy.
"Master... what are you laughing at?" Hou Hao was completely bewildered. "I'm about to pee my pants from fear, don't scare me."
Su Yun waved his hand, forcing himself to suppress his laughter.
"Sorry, I'm a professional. I usually don't laugh—unless I can't help it."
He cleared his throat and looked at Hou Hao. "Alright, stop scaring yourself. There are no ghosts in your house, and no hackers either."
"No ghosts?" Hou Hao was stunned. "Then how did my money disappear? Is it really sleepwalking?"
"It's not sleepwalking either."
Su Yun shook his head and then pointed to the corner of the living room behind Hou Hao.
"Turn your phone's camera around and point it at that corner of the living room."
Although Hou Hao didn't understand why, he did as he was told.
Holding his phone, he slowly turned around and pointed it at the corner of the living room.
There sat a huge dog bed.
In the dog bed lay a massive Husky.
This fellow was sleeping soundly, splayed out with its tongue hanging out, its legs occasionally twitching as it made snoring sounds.
The sleeping posture was absolutely flamboyant.
"Master, this is my dog, Er Bing," Hou Hao explained. "What's wrong with him?"
Su Yun looked at the Husky, who was sleeping like a dead pig, a playful curve appearing at the corner of his mouth.
"What's wrong? This roommate of yours is much smarter than you imagine."
"All that money you lost... it was all spent by him."
As soon as these words were spoken.
The entire livestream suddenly became eerily quiet.
Immediately after, the bullet chat exploded like a boiling pot.
[Huh? A dog? Master Su, are you kidding me?]
[No spirits allowed after the founding of the PRC! This dog can unlock a phone? And even do top-ups?]
[Even though Huskies are pretty weird, this is just too ridiculous!]
[I don't believe it! I wouldn't believe it even if you killed me! If a dog can shop online, I'll eat crap on a livestream!]
Hou Hao looked even more incredulous.
He looked at his phone, then at Er Bing, who was still snoring.
"Master, you... stop joking."
"Even though Er Bing is a Husky and is usually quite good at wrecking the house, he's still just a dog!"
"He can't even learn how to shake hands, so how could he learn to swipe my card?"
