10: Chapter 10 Magic Circuit

"What's going on?"

Mo Bai pondered slightly, and after a moment, he thought of a possibility.

"spirit?"

After pondering for a moment, Mo Bai picked up his brush again.

However, this time was different from before; this time, his brushstrokes were extremely slow.

As the brush tip touched down and he drew the Spell Node, Mo Bai stared intently at the stroke.

Intangibly, a trace of mana contained within the Wolf King Blood rippled slightly.

"Just as I thought!"

Detecting this slight fluctuation, Mo Bai thought to himself.

However, merely due to a moment of distraction, the second node showed no reaction.

"It's no good."

Mo Bai glanced at this piece of Wolf Skin.

Not only had he drawn it incorrectly, but even the mana fluctuation from the first node had dissipated.

The mana within the Wolf King Blood had also dissipated because it was drawn out.

After thinking for a bit, Mo Bai still took out the wolf king skin.

Carefully cutting out a piece, with focused concentration, he dipped the brush tip fully in Wolf King Blood and then gently touched it down.

"Hoo~"

It seemed like the sound of wind, or perhaps nothing at all.

But in Mo Bai's perception, the mana within the Wolf King Blood was clearly drawn out and had connected with the mana within the wolf king skin, directly sustaining itself upon it.

"It works."

Mo Bai thought to himself, but he didn't dare to waste any time.

Because the mana in the Wolf King Blood had already been drawn out. Although it connected with the mana within the wolf king skin, this also caused the mana within the wolf king skin to start depleting.

This meant that if he delayed too long, the mana within both the wolf king skin and the Wolf King Blood would dissipate together.

Mo Bai took a deep breath, focused all his attention, and immediately drew the second node.

Then the third... the fourth... the fifth. Mo Bai originally wanted to continue, but he found that this piece of wolf king skin was too small, and the mana within it had already dissipated completely.

"It's useless now."

Although interrupted, Mo Bai wasn't the least bit discouraged; instead, he grew excited.

"It's feasible! But I need a larger piece of Wolf Skin."

Mo Bai had no intention of being frugal. So much time had passed, and most of the mana in this Wolf King Blood and wolf king skin had already dissipated. He didn't know how to process them to preserve the mana inside.

Keeping them would just be a waste, so he might as well use them for more practice.

Without hesitation, he estimated the size and took a piece of wolf king skin as large as a washbasin, decisively starting to draw.

One node, two nodes, three nodes... This wolf king skin had sufficient mana to consume. Mo Bai performed steadily and consistently, and soon, fifteen nodes had formed on it.

Looking at these fifteen nodes, in his perception, they were fifteen clusters of mana.

"The Spell Nodes are ready. Next is the connection..."

Mo Bai took a deep breath, pinched the wolf hair on the Wolf-hair Brush to a fine point, and then dipped it in Wolf Blood.

Glancing at the proportion between the line and the size of the Spell Nodes, he then focused completely and made a stroke!

A thin blood line, but in Mo Bai's eyes, it was mana flowing from the first node to the second.

mana pathway!

The second one!

The third one!

In the blink of an eye, three mana pathways formed. Mo Bai immediately sensed that the mana fluctuations on the beast skin had increased significantly.

The fourth one.

However, when the fourth one was drawn, he suddenly paused.

"Not good."

Mo Bai looked at this somewhat broken blood line and sensed the somewhat broken mana pathway.

When the mana from the three nodes rushed over, it instantly accumulated, clogged, and burst through.

The mana that forcefully burst through the energy pathway instantly spread across the entire beast skin, causing all the mana to become chaotic.

A gentle breeze blew, and the mana dissipated completely.

"The brush is too poor; the Wolf King Blood flow broke."

Mo Bai glanced at the unevenly cut brush and scratched his head slightly.

"First, I need a better brush."

Recalling the brush-making method video he had watched before, Mo Bai thought for a moment, selected some wolf hairs of equal length, spent some effort removing stray hairs, and then bundled them into a somewhat neater brush.

"I'll use this for now."

Looking at the new brush, Mo Bai dipped it again into the thick Wolf Blood.

He changed to a new piece of wolf king skin and took a deep breath.

"One... two... three... ten... fifteen."

In an instant, fifteen Spell Nodes were completed in one go.

Indeed, it was much faster after switching to this brush.

Mo Bai took a deep breath and continued his attempts.

The first... second... third... fourth... one after another, mana pathways took shape. Mana continuously advanced and gathered along the pathways. The more nodes connected, the more mana they contained, the greater the fluctuations, and the higher the difficulty of subsequent drawing.

And the most difficult part was drawing the second mana pathway on some Spell Nodes.

The formation of a second mana pathway immediately caused a backflow of mana. This impact was more violent; with the slightest carelessness, the mana pathway seemed like it would be breached.

However, it was precisely during this process of mana backflow that the mana fluctuations in different mana pathways and different Spell Nodes seemed to resonate faintly.

The mana fluctuations in the entire area instantly became noticeably stronger.

The mana... seemed to have changed.

"Is this resonance the essence of casting a spell?"

Mo Bai's eyes widened, his excitement washing away the fatigue in his brain.

"Yes, that's it!"

Excited, Mo Bai immediately made a stroke, confidently connecting the completed part to the central Spell Node.

The moment the mana pathway formed... "Whoosh!"

"Whoosh!"

Instantly, chaotic mana formed gusts of strong wind blowing in all directions, almost blowing Mo Bai off his feet.

The surrounding area was in complete disarray. Even the Wolf-hair Brush in his hand was blown into a flared shape, and the beast skin bearing the Magic Spell Model was torn to pieces.

"What happened?"

Mo Bai was stunned.

"It exploded? Where did I go wrong?"

Slightly choked up, Mo Bai looked at the mess on the ground, constantly replaying his actions in his mind.

"My drawing wasn't wrong. That mana pathway was complete, standard, and full; it was definitely qualified.

The nodes weren't wrong either."

"If it wasn't my drawing, then was it the order?"

Accompanied by his thoughts, Mo Bai gradually fell into contemplation.

Thinking while cleaning up, he soon squatted before another beast skin, though this one was much smaller.

He continued his attempts.

The fifteen Spell Nodes went as smoothly as ever, but he paused slightly when it came to the mana pathways.

"Was it because the mana underwent its qualitative change too early?

Hmm."

Mo Bai had too little information and too little data. In that case, it was simply a matter of trial and error.

"Just draw. At worst, it's exhaustive enumeration. Let's designate the mana pathway between point one and point two as 'a', between point one and point three as 'b', between point three and..."

"First, group one: a, b, c, d..."

"Second group: a, c, b, d..."

"Third group: a, c, d, b..."

One possibility after another. Once a qualitative change was involved, he noted it down. Once something was invalidated, he discarded it.

Experiment after experiment, piece after piece of beast skin was discarded, and more and more resonance situations appeared.

Gradually, gradually, a pattern seemed to begin to emerge...
