16: Chapter 16 Spellcasting Gloves

"This..."

In his soul state, Wang Zhan looked at Mo Bai in disbelief.

"How is this possible? Can forming seals actually release magic?"

"I..."

"This..."

Wang Zhan suddenly couldn't process what was happening, but when he saw Mo Bai turn to leave, he immediately clicked to respawn.

"You want more?"

Seeing that Wang Zhan had respawned on the spot rather than at a respawn point, Mo Bai frowned and began forming seals with his hands.

However, before the seal formation was complete, he saw the man perform an incredibly smooth sliding kneel.

"Master, please teach me how to form seals."

Mo Bai was just about to grow impatient and continue his seals when he heard Wang Zhan shout loudly.

"Ten thousand! No, a hundred thousand! Name your price, I'll pay extra!"

"?"

"I'm busy. I'm not teaching."

Mo Bai replied after being stunned for a long while.

Kneeling down for moral kidnapping or being thick-skinned was useless against him; it only made him strike harder.

But talking about money at every turn, adding more money, and giving it to him personally... how could this guy strike his weakness so precisely?

Hmm?

Wang Zhan opened his mouth to speak, but the moment he tried to step forward, Mo Bai glared at him, causing his footsteps to halt immediately.

Watching Mo Bai's departing figure, he couldn't help but fall into deep thought, his hands unconsciously forming hand seals from naruto—fast and accurate, yet slightly embarrassing.

It was as if he had passed the age for playing such things and shouldn't be doing it anymore.

Wang Zhan left.

Seeing his thoughtful expression as he departed, Mo Bai suddenly had an ominous premonition.

A fool isn't scary, but when a fool starts thinking... hiss.

"He shouldn't be able to do anything too outrageous, right?"

Mo Bai couldn't help but mutter. He then shook his head, casting the thought aside to begin reviewing the previous battle, while simultaneously capturing wind elements from the environment to store in the crystal core.

"With an ample supply of wind elements, I can use hand seals to assist in completing a spell release within three seconds.

This casting speed is roughly enough to meet my needs. Later, I'll just use the materials from the Wolf King to craft a pair of Spellcasting Gloves.

Hmm, I can learn how to make leather gloves and wear them directly once they're finished."

Mo Bai looked at the silver-white leather left behind by the Wolf King, lost in thought for a moment.

"Furthermore, the Wind Blade's speed isn't fast enough, and the compression is insufficient.

If I compress it into smaller Wind Blades to increase speed and power, I could kill Wang Zhan with the first strike.

Alternatively, I could increase the spell's range, expanding the lethal linear Wind Blade into an entire Wind Wall.

This could block ranged attacks and prevent enemies from dodging, creating a suppression effect for a follow-up strike to finish them off."

Mo Bai pondered briefly and immediately recorded his thoughts in the forum notepad.

"1. Increase pressure to improve the Wind Blade's maintenance distance and power."

"2. Decrease pressure to increase the Wind Blade's coverage area, forming a Wind Wall."

"Experimental Principle Reference: During the first manual casting, the power was noticeably lower and the range wider compared to casting with the ink box. That is: spell effects are not a black box; they can be adjusted with changes to the Magic Spell Model. Based on the different divisions of labor within the Spell Structure, further analyze its principles and functions, and perform targeted adjustments to the Spell Nodes and mana pathways."

"Experimental Process:

1... 2..."

After finishing his writing, Mo Bai made another round of targeted adjustments.

"The magic module is pretty much set. I just need to experiment and adjust step-by-step; it's mostly a matter of slow, meticulous work.

Next is the second key to spellcasting: energy."

"Right now, I only have this crystal core to store wind elements for rapid casting. I haven't experimented with using magic beast materials for casting yet.

The possibility of the human body storing elements hasn't been explored either, nor have I tried searching for the laws of Elemental Power to quickly capture a specific element."

Mo Bai listed them one by one, and soon a massive amount of content appeared. The sheer volume made even him scratch his head.

It wasn't that he was afraid of hard work; Mo Bai was currently fully immersed in it.

The immediate feedback was too strong—once you learned it, you could release a spell, and there was an instant change. It was hard not to get addicted.

The problem was that he had to respect objective reality. There was only one of him, and a day only had twenty-four hours; he couldn't be in two places at once.

"I should find some laboratory workhorses."

"Wang Zhan?"

"No. I'll look for some university students later. They have time, brains, and don't have to worry about making a living yet—it's the perfect time for chasing dreams.

I'll lead the project and delegate the repetitive chores to assistants while I handle the overall coordination."

Mo Bai thought for a moment and then continued his work.

He first removed the wolf fangs he had and selected some wolf fur for testing, only to find that the fur was much more sluggish at conducting wind elements than the fangs.

If he used wolf fur, he would need to intentionally pause for a few milliseconds during the casting process to wait for his Spiritual Power to finish guiding the mana to form Spell Nodes.

Across a full set of seven seal movements, the failure rate spiked. Even though Mo Bai, with the help of the ink box, still managed to force a successful control, the casting time increased from three seconds to five.

"This won't do. A pause with every movement is a fatal blow to the rhythm; it can't be smooth at all.

This wolf fur is fine for drawing magic scrolls, but if I want to make Spellcasting Gloves, I still need wolf fangs."

Mo Bai tried the wolf bones next, then shook his head.

"Only the bone from the wolf's skull works; the bones from the body won't do.

This is likely because the skull was embedded with the crystal core, making the material different.

I can only use the wolf fangs."

Mo Bai pondered briefly, then used a knife to cut different-sized pieces from the wolf fangs for a series of trials.

"A wolf fang particle a quarter the size of a grain of rice can complete the element guidance for a Wind Blade Technique Spell Node in an instant. Any smaller, however, and efficiency is affected.

As for the shape, I haven't noticed any impact."

After thinking for a moment, Mo Bai cut a section from a wolf fang, polished it into a thick flake, and wrapped it around his fingertip with a piece of linen.

"I'll find some glue later, or just hurry up and finish the gloves and embed it into them."

"I really do need to find assistants, otherwise there's no one to do the chores.

I also need to make money. It's impossible for me to hunt all the magic beast materials needed for experiments by myself.

I don't have the time or energy; it's unrealistic. I'll have to buy them.

Then there are the assistants' salaries to pay. Hmm, or I could find a way to get them for free, just paying basic living expenses.

There are also the magic beast crystal cores to directly improve endurance, the Magic Spell Models within them, and even security so I'm not disturbed during my research.

My Spiritual Power also needs to increase, otherwise I'll run out after just a few spells.

For now, the most important thing for increasing Spiritual Power is a calm mind. Once the mind is disturbed, I can't enter the state.

I definitely can't touch menial chores."

"Whew."

After thinking for a long time, Mo Bai let out a long breath and looked toward the calm surface of the lake.

As if by instinct, in this familiar environment, Mo Bai's heart gradually calmed, and his Spiritual Power merged into it.

A moment later, a gentle breeze blew, and Mo Bai seemed to merge with heaven and earth.

But suddenly, a slight elemental fluctuation, like a stone thrown into water, stirred up circles of ripples.
