24: Chapter 24 "Damn, you're really a mage?!"
"They're here."
Mo Bai looked at the message notification, a hint of joy immediately appearing on his face.
This game had no friend interface, making it impossible to send private messages directly.
So, they had agreed to leave messages in this thread to communicate.
The number '1' signified that a transport team had been discovered.
Without a word, Mo Bai rushed toward Yang Hao's location.
By the time he arrived, Zhou Rin was already there. Seeing Mo Bai, Yang Hao pointed to the west with fingers still holding wild fruit.
Even without him saying anything, Mo Bai had already picked up the sounds from that direction as he approached.
"Seven people. No iron armor, but they all have weapons, and there are bows."
Mo Bai listened intently for a moment before speaking up.
Meanwhile, no matter how hard Zhou Rin looked or listened, he couldn't catch the slightest movement or see a single figure.
"Huh?"
Zhou Rin seriously suspected these two were isolating him.
"Let's move."
Mo Bai waved his hand and led the way, with Yang Hao and Zhou Rin quickly following behind.
The three of them stopped after walking about twenty meters; the transport team had already entered the range of Mo Bai's Spiritual Power.
Seven fierce-looking men, carrying weapons and wearing leather armor, were moving through the forest. Four of them carried bundles on their backs, which faintly emitted ripples of Elemental Power.
"That's them. Five swordsmen and two Archers. The bundles on their backs are what we need."
"They're about twenty meters away from us now. Let's go."
Mo Bai scanned the area with his Spiritual Power and led the two of them to a slightly more open spot ahead to set up an ambush.
"They'll be here in a few minutes. Don't alert them."
"Okay."
Seeing that they were finally in his area of expertise, Zhou Rin suddenly felt confident again.
He puffed out his chest, gripped his blade, and looked exceptionally confident.
"Just watch me later!"
"Alright."
Mo Bai nodded. Hiding in a haystack, he handed the Wind Blade Technique magic scroll he was carrying to Yang Hao and taught him how to guide it using Spiritual Power.
As both of them used their Spiritual Power to scan simultaneously, Mo Bai pointed directly at one of the Archers in the back.
"We'll take one each."
"Okay, understood."
Yang Hao gripped the magic scroll, feeling the elemental ripples and the Magic Spell Model within it, his heart swelling with faint excitement.
Meanwhile, Mo Bai silently drew wind elements from the environment.
He had originally wanted Yang Hao to help gather them for him to use later.
But after finding that using Elemental Power gathered by someone else felt a bit obstructed, he abandoned the idea.
They didn't have to wait long. After a few minutes, the transport team reached them, passing right through the open area Mo Bai had chosen.
At that moment, all three held their breath and waited silently. Zhou Rin could faintly hear the men talking.
"Whew, this path is really hard to walk. Damn players! If it weren't for them, why would we have to take such a long detour?"
"We would've arrived ages ago."
"No way. Once we get there, I'm definitely going to the Granary to have some fun."
"Hahaha, we're almost there. Let's go together."
As the men chatted and laughed, the corners of Zhou Rin's mouth curled up slightly.
It was finally time for him to show off!
These two "mages," Mo Bai and Yang Hao—humph, they were indeed great at scouting, but when it came to combat, it had to be us melee fighters.
"Kill."
The moment the transport team passed in front of them, Mo Bai gave a low shout. Zhou Rin instantly leaped toward a Swordsman in front of him.
Cut down the Swordsman to break through, then take out the Archer!
Zhou Rin calculated in his mind, but in the next instant, he saw two Wind Blades pass by him from his left and right.
"What the heck?"
His heart skipped a beat, and his eyes widened.
"Wait, you guys actually know how to do that?"
While he was dazed, the Wind Blade on the right instantly passed Zhou Rin, zipped past a gang member, and directly hit an Archer in the back.
*Slash!*
The Archer was instantly sliced in two, blood spraying everywhere.
Behind them, Yang Hao stood with his mouth slightly agape, holding a beast skin scroll.
Meanwhile, the Wind Blade released by Mo Bai bypassed the leather armor, sweeping across a gang member's waist to bisect him before landing on the last Archer, instantly shredding his face and neck into a bloody mess as blood gushed out.
"Ambush!"
*Slash!*
"Ah!"
Only then did the man Zhou Rin was ambushing let out a roar, but in the next moment, Zhou Rin's long blade had already sliced halfway through his neck.
Instantly, screams and wails turned the place into a scene of chaos.
"We're from the Great Axe Gang! How dare you attack us!"
One gang member roared with wide eyes, but besides him, two others turned and fled in terror.
"It's exactly the Great Axe Gang we're hitting."
Zhou Rin cursed. His large blade swung down like a collapsing mountain. After a few clangs of impact, he caught an opening in the gang member's defense and cut him down.
But when he wanted to find the next enemy, he saw Mo Bai forming seals with his hands. Two Wind Blades instantly appeared, caught up with the two fleeing men, and sliced them in half.
And the last Archer, who was wailing on the ground, was swiftly finished off by Yang Hao.
In just a few breaths, the entire seven-man transport team had perished on the spot.
But Zhou Rin didn't care about that at all; instead, he pointed a finger at Mo Bai.
"You, you, you... you're a mage? F*ck, you're actually a real mage! Why didn't you say so ear—"
Zhou Rin's voice suddenly trailed off as he thought of something, while Mo Bai grinned.
"I told you a long time ago that I'm a mage."
"I..."
Zhou Rin was speechless and turned to point at Yang Hao.
"Yang Hao, you... fine, so it turns out I'm the outsider here, huh?"
"Insider, insider."
Yang Hao spoke somewhat shyly. Hearing this, Zhou Rin calmed down for a moment, but then he realized what was said.
"Pah! Who's your 'insider'? Get lost, get lost! Stay away from me."
Zhou Rin muttered, then looked at the scene and back at Mo Bai.
"Good grief... this time... things are really going to be badass."
No matter how much he joked, he couldn't hide the shock in his heart.
A mage!
A real mage.
After a long while, he still couldn't help but draw in a sharp breath.
"Yang Hao is going to be badass, and I'm going to be badass too."
Meanwhile, Mo Bai had already sorted everything out and repacked it.
"Let's go. Time to split the loot."
Zhou Rin, who had been dazed, snapped out of it upon hearing this. He immediately stepped forward, took the bundles Mo Bai had packed, and shoved them toward Yang Hao.
"Hurry up and carry them!"
"Huh?"
Yang Hao subconsciously took the backpack, then saw Zhou Rin take the other two bundles from Mo Bai and hoist them onto his own shoulders, before also packing up and carrying the pile of weapons nearby.
"Brother Mo, I've put points into Strength, so I'm strong. What are a couple of bundles and some weapons to me?"
"I can handle it all by myself."
"Uh."
Mo Bai was amused. Seeing this, Yang Hao couldn't help but scratch his head, then handed the used magic scroll back to Mo Bai.
"Bro... Brother Mo, the used scroll."
"Don't mind him, just call me Mo Bai. Let's go; we'll find another place to properly sort through our gains."
"Okay."
The two immediately started walking forward, with Zhou Rin following behind cheerfully.
He was very happy.
A Golden Thigh!
If I don't cling to it now, when will I?
"Pah, as if Yang Hao's enough—just watch me!"
