9: Chapter 9 Spell Models

"Ugh, still got caught."

Mo Bai scratched his head.

"You punk, daring to rob our Great Axe Gang..."

"Whoosh!"

Instantly, a Wind Blade shot through the air, shredding the burly man's upper body into pieces. His words were cut short.

Splattered blood and gore covered the faces of the people beside him.

In an instant, everyone was stunned, their legs weak and their eyes wide open.

"Take off all your clothes, then kneel."

Mo Bai's calm voice rang out.

The moment his words fell, everyone hurriedly stripped off their clothes, incredibly fast, not daring to leave a single piece on. After stripping, they immediately knelt on the ground, heads bowed, not daring to look up, their hands still trembling incessantly.

"Hmph."

Mo Bai snorted coldly, grabbed two intact outer garments and an iron saber, and walked straight away.

The few people behind him trembled, not daring to get up. Only after hearing the footsteps fade into the distance did they immediately rise and flee like madmen.

And after leaving their sight, Mo Bai also immediately quickened his pace and ran.

"The ink box is still too inconvenient. It takes over an hour, nearly two hours, to use it once.

If only I could cast spells myself, then why would I fear a measly Great Axe Gang?

I'd storm their doorstep and slaughter them."

Mo Bai couldn't help but mutter.

Having the guts to pull a double-cross on the Great Axe Gang's Beggar at first was one thing; being afraid of the Great Axe Gang now was another.

If I died too many times and lost all my experience points, it wouldn't be worth it.

Better make a quick getaway~"

"But then again, does this game even have the Mage class?

Logically, with the spirit attribute, there should definitely be one, right?

Otherwise, wouldn't adding points to spirit be a scam? But why haven't I seen any information about Mage transcendence on the forum?

There's quite a bit about Knight transcendence, though."

Mo Bai ran out of Oak Town, retrieved his two Wolf Skin bundles, then quickly changed direction, heading east towards the forest to escape.

As he ran, he pondered the matter of Mages.

Becoming a Mage was an idea he had from the moment he entered the game, and it was also his usual habit when playing games.

In this true game, he yearned even more to be a mage lord.

"I wonder what the principle behind casting spells is."

"But the Wolf King can cast them, and the ink box can cast them too. Hiss.

If I can replicate that, wouldn't I be able to cast spells?

Wouldn't that make me a Mage then?"

This sudden thought even startled Mo Bai himself.

But upon careful consideration.

"If I can cast spells, and I'm not a Mage, then who is?

No problem with that."

Mo Bai slapped his thigh and immediately turned his gaze to the pattern on the ink box in his mind.

Or rather, the model.

The Magic Spell Model.

"The Wolf King's body is no different from an ordinary wolf's; the biggest difference is this crystal core.

And inside the crystal core is a Magic Spell Model. After the ink box copied the Magic Spell Model, it could also cast spells. Therefore, it can be deduced:

The Wind Blade Technique is released through the Magic Spell Model. As long as I can also condense or realize this Magic Spell Model, I can rely on myself to cast spells."

Carrying the Wolf Skin bundles on his back, no beasts attacked Mo Bai along the way. He was happy to be left alone, focusing on traveling and thinking at the same time.

He was now completely immersed in his own train of thought.

Researching magic!

Isn't this more enjoyable than grinding monsters for levels?

"Based on existing information, the release of the Wind Blade Technique depends on the Magic Spell Model.

We can first boldly hypothesize that casting a spell requires a Magic Spell Model and an energy source to activate it."

Mo Bai sensed the magic power contained within the Wolf Skin and Wolf Blood behind him.

"Magic power!"

"Through this hypothesis, I can conduct the following experiments."

"One, try using Spiritual Power, blood, flesh, metal, wood, etc., to interfere with or stimulate the magic power on the Wolf Blood.

Find a medium that can interact with magic power."

"Two, conduct controlled experiments, using Wolf King Blood, ordinary beast blood, and human blood to draw the Magic Spell Model on materials such as wolf king skin, ordinary Wolf Skin, burlap, and the human body."

"Three..."

As Mo Bai walked, he used the forum's draft function to record a preliminary outline.

He then gradually refined it, and soon, a series of experimental plans took shape.

When the sky grew completely dark.

Using a flint to light a campfire and finding a relatively flat stone, Mo Bai didn't waste any time.

First, he roasted a piece of wolf king meat over the fire.

After confirming that the magic power hadn't disappeared due to cooking, Mo Bai directly ate a piece of wolf king meat.

Isolated by the human body, he could no longer sense the magic power and could only wait for his body's reaction.

This was naturally part of the experiment.

And immediately after... "The Magic Spell Model for the Wind Blade Technique has a total of fifteen nodes."

Mo Bai focused his mind inward, gazing at the Wind Blade Technique model on the ink box.

The entire model was imprinted on the surface of the ink box, extremely clear.

Fifteen nodes, connected by thin lines. Some nodes had only one line, some had two.

And one node had the most connections: three lines.

"Spell Nodes."

"Fortunately, they're all on a single plane; otherwise, it really wouldn't be easy to copy."

Mo Bai took a deep breath, memorizing the corresponding positions of the different nodes and the lengths of the lines one by one.

He then took out a small handful of wolf king fur, wrapped a hemp thread around a branch.

A very simple Wolf-hair Brush was thus created.

Although a real Wolf-hair Brush is actually made from weasel hair, as wolf hair is too stiff for a brush, for Mo Bai, it didn't matter.

As long as it works.

In his mind, the ink box spun rapidly, which was why he was so deeply immersed in thought.

After concentrating for a moment, a palm-sized piece of intact Wolf Skin was processed.

The flesh and blood on it had been scraped clean.

Mo Bai first dipped the Wolf-hair Brush in some ordinary Wolf Blood, then began to draw.

Using the brush to hold the blood, using the tip to write.

A dot, a line. With the ink box's enhancement, Mo Bai had mechanical-like control over his hand.

The size of the nodes and the angles of the lines were drawn by Mo Bai with almost no error.

However, after Mo Bai completed a full drawing without any changes and without the slightest magic power being stirred, he immediately knew it definitely wouldn't work.

But he still repeated it ten times, changed the medium and repeated another ten times, and then tried over a hundred times by switching the drawing order of different nodes.

After dozens to hundreds of attempts, the entire Magic Spell Model failed to stir any magic power.

This was within his expectations. After completing the planned number of experimental attempts, Mo Bai fetched some Wolf King Blood again.

He continued drawing.

After dozens of practice sessions and with intense focus, his strokes were now even swifter. In the blink of an eye, a complete Magic Spell Model was drawn.

"Hmm?"

Mo Bai suddenly paused. The magic power in the Wolf King Blood used to draw the Magic Spell Model seemed to have fluctuated slightly.

"It works!"

He was immediately overjoyed.

Without any hesitation, he immediately tried again.

"Hmm? Why is there nothing now?"

Mo Bai was slightly taken aback and began trying again.

But the results of the attempts were like a joke—one time it worked, the next it didn't.

After trying several times, Mo Bai paused slightly and couldn't help but fall into deep thought.
