14: Chapter 14 Spellcasting!

"Hum!"

A hum resonated in his brain. Mo Bai turned his gaze inward.

In the center of his once empty mind, wisps of mist coalesced, forming a small white misty region occupying roughly one-tenth of his mental space.

"Spiritual Power."

Mo Bai observed this mist; it was not unfamiliar to him.

This was the Spiritual Power he had been cultivating all along. Previously, this power was intangible. It was only now, after breaking through the critical point, that it condensed into a concrete force within his mind.

Expanding his Spiritual Power, the situation within a twenty-meter radius imprinted itself into his consciousness.

It even revealed to Mo Bai a bizarre and fantastical world.

A world of energy.

The world observed by the naked eye is the material world, but Spiritual Power perceives the omnipresent energy and elements.

Under his spiritual perception, places with abundant water were rich in water elements, areas with many trees were dense with wood elements, the earth accumulated earth elements, and where flames burned, fire elements roared.

It was as if he were in a vast ocean of energy, and he had only just opened this magical perspective.

"So amazing."

A slight smile touched Mo Bai's lips. Now, looking at the crystal core, he could clearly perceive the wind elements within it.

However, unlike the mixed and impure elemental state of the outside world, the crystal core contained pure wind elements that could be easily manipulated.

At this moment, everything felt incredibly novel. Mo Bai tirelessly experimented, utilized, and explored.

Gradually, Mo Bai understood that pure, single-element power was easy to manipulate and use.

The mixed elemental forces in the natural environment were cumbersome and complex.

After much experimentation, Mo Bai looked at the Magic Spell Model on the ink box. His heart felt as if it were being scratched by a catβ€”a persistent, tantalizing itch.

"I should be able to cast spells directly now, right?"

Mo Bai took a deep breath.

The wind elements inside the crystal core were insufficient. He somewhat clumsily and nervously began capturing wind elements from the environment.

With Spiritual Power extended outward, he only needed to concentrate, and his spiritual sense could capture Elemental Power.

It's just that the natural environment is a mix of all sorts of elements. Mo Bai had to capture them bit by bit, filter them bit by bit.

Then, he had to blend the filtered, pure wind elements into individual Spell Nodes.

"One node, two nodes, three nodes..."

Mo Bai patiently prepared. Time passed minute by minute. In less than ten minutes, he had gathered enough Elemental Power and constructed fifteen elemental nodes out of thin air.

The Magic Spell Model for the Wind Blade Technique was already memorized by him. With just a thought, a stream of wind elements shot out, connecting to another Spell Node.

wind elements surged along the pathways. While maintaining the state of the original Spell Nodes, one mana pathway after another was constructed.

Splitting his attention to perform multiple precise operations simultaneously was practically effortless in Mo Bai's hands.

The ink box in his mind operated at high speed. With a familiarity that felt almost instinctive, the connections of the mana pathways were completed in a mere few dozen seconds.

Instantly.

"Hum!"

The Magic Spell Model formed a closed loop. The wind elements within it surged and churned, directly transforming into a palm-sized Wind Blade that slowly rotated before Mo Bai.

"Huh."

Mo Bai looked at this Wind Blade with full excitement and waved a single hand.

"Swoosh! Swoosh swoosh!"

The Wind Blade flew out, instantly absorbing wind elements from the environment. Although it also took in many impurities, a significant amount of wind elements still flowed into it.

The size and number of Wind Blades instantly skyrocketed. However, this also made them highly unstable. Countless Wind Blades collided and spun against each other. In just a moment, they crossed five meters and struck a rock.

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh!"

A fierce wind howled. Innumerable tiny Wind Blades swept past, leaving deep scratch marks all over the rock's surface.

"Wind Blade Technique!"

Mo Bai took a deep breath.

"I did it?"

"I personally cast the Wind Blade Technique?"

Although casting this Wind Blade Technique took a very long time, and although the power of this Wind Blade Technique wasn't concentrated enough, producing a scraping effect on the rock,

Even though it doesn't have practical combat significance yet, none of this can obscure one fact.

This was the first spell he personally cast without relying on any external aid!

"I personally cast it."

Mo Bai murmured in his heart, the sense of accomplishment ineffable to outsiders.

It took a long, long time for his excited mood to gradually calm down.

"Next, as long as I speed up the spellcasting process, my spells will have practical combat significance.

By that time, I can probably be called a mage, right?

At the very least, I should be a Mage Apprentice."

A slight smile curved Mo Bai's lips. He immediately opened the draft function of the forum to record his thoughts.

"The main problems slowing down spellcasting are two."

"First, casting the Wind Blade Technique requires pure wind element monomers, but gathering them took far too long, nearly ten minutes.

Ten minutes would be enough for me to die hundreds of times in a real fight.

This point..."

Mo Bai frowned slightly.

"The elemental forces in the external environment are too chaotic, containing everything. To cast the Wind Blade Technique, one must extract pure wind element monomers.

This step can only be mastered through practice, or perhaps by attempting to develop a technique for directional filtration of specific elemental monomers during future use.

A more appropriate method should be to store or carry a certain type of Elemental Power, ready for direct invocation when needed."

Mo Bai glanced at the transcendent crystal core in his hand, which precisely stored pure wind elements.

If fully charged, it should be able to release wind elements several times.

This should be the method used by that wolf king.

"In addition, one can carry materials like Wolf King Blood or wolf king skin. The pure wind Elemental Power contained within can also be quickly channeled to cast spells."

"Second is the speed of constructing the Magic Spell Model.

Directly controlling Elemental Power to construct elemental nodes out of thin air, without a reference, requires multiple calibrations, making it relatively slow."

Having personally cast the Wind Blade Technique once, Mo Bai naturally understood the issues.

"Moreover, errors are prone to occur. I definitely made an error this time; otherwise, the Wind Blades wouldn't have been so scattered.

So, it's best to find a reference object, and this reference can also assist in spellcasting."

"Hmm, I could copy the Magic Spell Model for the Wind Blade Technique onto a book. When I need to cast the Wind Blade Technique, I can directly channel wind elements to align with the Spell Nodes and mana pathways on the page, instantly casting the spell!

This would definitely be precise enough. As for speed, no thinking required, just follow the traces. But it still needs to be done in order, or perhaps split attention to construct from multiple starting points simultaneously?

That's not impossible, though the difficulty increases slightly."

Mo Bai pondered silently. The book-copying plan was feasible, but it didn't feel particularly brilliant to him.

For the fastest method, a vague idea was forming in his mind.

"Constructing a Magic Spell Model, Spiritual Power is like a hand. No matter how many tools you borrow or how dexterous the hand is, it's still just one hand. If that's the case...

Then why not add another?."

In that instant, inspiration bloomed!
