57: Chapter 57 Unexpected Changes

"Buzz!"

"Buzz!"

One after another, magic arrays vanished beneath the earth and into the cliff walls.

Mo Bai didn't stop until he had used up all the bone powder he had for engraving magic arrays.

Resisting the urge to get the bone powder intended for experiments from Yang Hao's side, Mo Bai looked at the magic arrays scattered everywhere and silently stopped.

Magic arrays not connected to the Elemental Pool had almost no elemental fluctuations; they were extremely obscure, containing only a negligible amount of Elemental Power.

Mo Bai swept his Spiritual Power over, sensing the speed at which the Elemental Power in the bone powder was dissipating, and made a quick calculation.

"At this rate, I'll probably have to spend a few minutes every five days connecting them to the Elemental Pool to recharge."

"Otherwise, bone powder that has completely lost its function might easily lead to complications."

Mo Bai couldn't be sure what specific complications might arise; at most, he had some guesses.

After some thought, he immediately selected eight magic arrays and cut their elemental pathway connections, using these eight arrays to conduct a test.

Among them were exactly two Wind Blade Technique arrays, two Water Shield Technique arrays, two Fireball Technique arrays, and two Earth Wall Spell arrays—each distinct.

Feeling the obscure Elemental Power around him, Mo Bai felt a long-lost sense of security.

Unfortunately, this sense of security was limited to the shores of Quiet Lake; the area was restricted.

This made Mo Bai turn his head to look at the cliffs, the mountains, and the fan-shaped valley mouth and plains by the shores of Quiet Lake, and a thought couldn't help but surface in his mind.

"If I could engrave magic arrays across all of Quiet Lake, the mountains, and the plains, the sense of security would surely be immense, wouldn't it?"

"Who would dare speak loudly to me then?"

Mo Bai's heart pounded with excitement, and he immediately began to conceptualize the plan.

A small scale was one thing, but if he were to build a large-scale Magic Array Cluster, it would require careful planning.

It was just like electrical wires and cables; the wiring in a small house would work no matter how it was set up.

But if the wiring for an entire building was a mess, it might function for a while, and one could perhaps make do.

However, if any part of the system failed, one might truly have to go to India to find a local electrician for even a chance at a repair.

To avoid such issues, scientific and rational planning was essential.

Furthermore, for a magic array system used for defense, a single line for elemental supply was certainly not secure enough—even two were too few.

At minimum, there should be one in use, one as backup, and one hidden as a secondary backup.

The routing within such a system was another headache.

Then there was the speed of the elemental supply, the efficiency of the pathways, and the requirement to power all magic arrays simultaneously—and whether the size of the elemental pathways needed to leave room for future upgrades.

After a brief moment of thought, questions flooded Mo Bai's mind. He silently recorded them and even looked up some videos on urban planning from the real world.

He didn't need to be an expert, but he needed a basic understanding to plan the construction of the Magic Array Cluster based on modern urban planning principles.

He added this task to his memo, which was already densely packed with items.

“0:00 to 8:00, Meditation.”

“8:00 to 12:00, practice the Body Tempering Method while mobilizing Elemental Power for Ye Qing, Zhou Rin, and the other Guard Unit to treat their internal injuries.”

“12:00 to 22:00, analyze and study the patterns of Spell Nodes and mana pathways, organize the daily research data from Yang Hao, Fang Yun, and others, conduct group discussions to resolve issues, perform related spell research, and refine the concept for a Mage's breakthrough.”

“22:00 to 24:00, construct the Magic Array Cluster system.”

With such a packed schedule, sleep had long since been removed from Mo Bai's agenda.

Even meals were finished in ten minutes after being delivered by villagers. Daily chores like laundry and cooking were handled by others, allowing Mo Bai to devote all his energy and time to research and self-improvement.

As for whether not sleeping would cause issues?

Meditation replaced sleep; Mo Bai's spirit could fully recover within eight hours and even be further enhanced.

Regarding his physical body, with his powerful Spiritual Power, his efficiency in practicing the Body Tempering Method was many times greater than that of Ye Qing or Zhou Rin.

Four hours of practicing the Body Tempering Method was enough to strengthen Mo Bai's body and restore his physical state, eliminating any possibility of sudden death from over-exhaustion.

His body was healthier than anyone else's, and its strength had long since surpassed that of Ye Qing and Zhou Rin.

Mo Bai estimated that his physical strength alone was likely enough to arm-wrestle Parn, and it wouldn't be long before he surpassed him entirely.

As a professional Mage, he possessed an absolute advantage in practicing the Warrior Body Tempering Method he had created.

Of course, as a Mage, he naturally wouldn't engage in close-quarters combat.

That was the way of warrior barbarians.

He should naturally cast spells with elegance and composure.

Just like his appearance: quiet and seemingly without the strength to even truss a chicken.

After a moment of silence, Mo Bai checked the time and entered a state of Meditation. Yang Hao, Fang Yun, and the others accompanied him, entering their own states of Meditation at their own paces.

The shores of Quiet Lake returned to tranquility in the dead of night. When the morning sun shone the next day and the lake's surface shimmered, silent training was underway at the nearby training ground.

A twenty-kilometer weighted run was just the warm-up, and frog jumps with logs on their shoulders were merely the appetizer. A thousand Spear thrusts and a thousand swings of the Mo Dao were only enough to break a sweat.

The continuous, high-intensity training left them completely exhausted.

At exactly eight o'clock, Mo Bai and the others emerged from their Meditation. Fang Yun led a team aside to analyze the patterns of the Spiritual Power Restraint structures, attempting to derive formulas.

Meanwhile, Yang Hao took some people and bone powder and headed straight for Yang Village, downstream of Quiet Lake.

They found ten mu of farmland and engraved ten different versions of the Growth Spell upon them. Village Head Kaven stood by to assist, while twenty expert farmers waited nearby.

Sheep Horn Village was expanding rapidly, but this was immediately followed by a swift shortage of food.

Kaven looked at the rice fields, which showed no signs of change, feeling some apprehension and a touch of doubt. The twenty villagers beside him were also whispering among themselves.

The few who were originally from Sheep Horn Village were fine; they had a high level of tolerance because they owed their lives to the newcomers.

However, some of the people who had joined later couldn't help but speak out.

“Who are these people? They're just putting on a show. Why are we playing along with these 'players'?”

“Exactly. I think Kaven has lost his mind. So what if they saved his life? We can just provide them with food and drink; why listen to their nonsense?”

“Will he be responsible if people starve to death?”

“I think we should just go over to Boss Drut's side.”

“Since Kaven assigned ten of our best men, our hunting harvests can no longer compete with Drut's... He's really lost his head.”

The words of a few echoed among the villagers, causing them to turn their gazes toward Kaven.

Kaven kept his back to them, not moving an inch.

Although his expression remained unchanged, he couldn't help but feel a sense of apprehension and unease in his heart.

However, in the very next moment, an unexpected change occurred!
