22: Chapter 22 Extraordinary Professions
"This is a Magic Spell Model."
Mo Bai stared at the person suspended in mid-air, suddenly coming to a realization.
"So his increase in strength is actually the effect of this Magic Spell Model."
Every time the potion is used, that violent Elemental Power scours the body, leaving behind the traces of a Magic Spell Model, while simultaneously damaging the body in the process.
If they survive and the Magic Spell Model takes shape, it's as if that person has solidified a Magic Spell Model within their body, granting them a constant enhancement effect?
Is this the meaning of this experiment—an exploration of the Transcendent?"
Mo Bai took a deep breath, slightly shaken.
Looking at the Black Robe's crude experimental steps, although there was some logic to it, the slow progress made Mo Bai unable to imagine how many lives had been sacrificed to advance the potion to this stage.
"If nothing unexpected happens, this person will die after a few more doses of the potion."
No matter how good one's constitution is, it can't withstand such abuse. And how many types of Magic Spell Models is that Black Robe trying to carve into his body?
"This is both a waste of time and deliberate murder."
He hadn't felt much before, but after this realization, Mo Bai immediately found it an eyesore.
"At this rate, the experiment won't succeed even in the next life. God knows how many more people will have to die before they realize it."
"However, if it succeeds, this person would probably go on a killing spree until he wipes out the Great Axe Gang, right?"
This thought suddenly surfaced in his mind.
"Maybe there's even a chance for the Transcendent path to be passed down."
Composing his thoughts, Mo Bai concentrated his Spiritual Power inside the person's body, recording every single trace.
When the Black Robe returned to experiment again, Mo Bai also recorded the trajectories and sequence of the elemental flow one by one.
The crystal core storing the Magic Spell Model had already been ground into powder, making the model itself undetectable; Mo Bai could only choose this method to replicate it.
Time passed minute by minute. The Black Robe performed two more experiments, both involving earth element Magic Spell Models.
After recording all the data, Mo Bai used his Spiritual Power to guide and draw out all elements other than the earth element from the person's body.
The elemental conflicts slowly dissipated, and the earth element surged within the body, leaving behind imprints.
In this way, the person was at least closer to success, meaning he could survive for a few more days—perhaps long enough to last until Mo Bai returned.
Scanning the surroundings with his Spiritual Power, there were at least a dozen gang members around the house.
Fishing nets, lassos, Spears, bows and arrows, iron chains, and other tools were all present, protecting the area like an inescapable dragnet.
If Mo Bai dared to step out, even if he used a few spells, with his physical condition, he would likely just become a new experimental subject for the Black Robe.
Initially, he had planned to "set the mountain ablaze," but as his Spiritual Power swept over the emaciated villagers in the granary, he let out a sigh.
"Where are the materials? Where are the materials? Why haven't the materials I asked for been delivered yet? Success is imminent."
"Hurry up and bring the materials to me!"
The Black Robe noticed that Subject One's physical condition was improving and he was lasting longer, which immediately made him excited.
However, upon finding the potion materials insufficient, he disregarded the time and shouted angrily, his shrill voice echoing through the village.
Many gang members were woken by the shrill voice and grumbled, while the person in the innermost stone house also cursed under his breath.
"Stop shouting, stop shouting! They'll be brought to you right away!"
Amidst the grumbling of the gang members, they didn't notice a figure silently passing through the darkness.
Dawn was approaching; it was time to leave.
Mo Bai watched the archers returning from outside with torches, held his breath in a blind spot, and continued his departure once they passed.
Suddenly, however, as his Spiritual Power swept through the middle house, a conversation caught his attention.
"Materials this, materials that. The demand for materials never stops."
"No rush. Wait until he researches the method to advance to the Transcendent level first."
"There will be plenty of time to deal with him then. But remember to show him respect on the surface, understand?"
"If you mess this up, the Lord won't forgive you."
"Understood, understood."
"Hmm, has that batch of materials been transported here yet?"
"It's here, it's here. They set off as soon as the city gates opened this morning, but they have to take a detour because those players are blocking the way."
"They should arrive by noon."
"Huh? Which way did you detour? Make sure you don't get bitten by those lunatics."
"Hehe, I took a long way around, coming directly from behind us."
"Fine. Go take some men later to check on the players' situation. Don't let them live too comfortably."
"Okay."
As the conversation ended, one of them left, taking a group of gang members out of the village.
Inside the room, the man who had just spoken was slowly spinning a Knight's Sword in his hand.
Faint, peculiar elemental fluctuations emanated from his body.
Suddenly, the man looked up, giving Mo Bai a start.
A sensation of being discovered rose in his heart. He immediately withdrew his Spiritual Power and left quickly.
"Does this gang leader involve the Transcendent?"
After scaling the wall to leave and crouching back down along its base, Mo Bai was secretly alarmed.
"What class is he?"
"Likely a melee class, otherwise he would have discovered me sooner."
"After this time, I must be careful, or I'll be caught red-handed."
Mo Bai climbed down the cliff in the dark, encountering no obstacles or incidents along the way.
Presumably, no one would imagine someone daring to climb a cliff in the dark.
After all, it was pure suicide.
Reaching the ground, Mo Bai couldn't help but ponder.
"Did the material that man just mentioned refer to crystal cores and the series of medicinal ingredients used by that Black Robe?"
"If the players can block them, then the source of the materials is from the direction of Oak Town."
"Setting off in the morning and arriving by noon the next day, this place is about thirty to forty kilometers from Oak Town."
A journey of a day and a half..."
Mo Bai thought as he moved away, and within moments, he had made a decision.
Before long, he returned to the temporary camp.
Zhou Rin was snoring loudly, appearing as though he hadn't woken once from his position.
Yang Hao, on the other hand, was gnawing on a sour fruit, his bloodshot eyes full of excitement.
Clearly, he was also an all-nighter—no, wait, he hadn't stayed up all night.
However, the results were remarkable.
Before him, a wisp of Spiritual Power condensed clusters of Elemental Power.
He had finally achieved active use of Spiritual Power and learned to control and guide Elemental Power with it.
Although Mo Bai had provided some guidance during the process, it was only a few pointers without saying too much.
The fact that he could still accomplish this under such circumstances—choosing to research it himself first rather than asking Mo Bai directly—earned him Mo Bai's approval.
Seeing Mo Bai, his eyes lit up, and he said somewhat shyly,
"Mo Bai, I succeeded!"
