102: Frustrated Carlos

Wei He was sprawled on the table drinking wine. Beside him, Neme murmured as she slowly opened her eyes. Clutching her head, she sat up slowly, looking at her disheveled clothing and then at Wei He, who was drinking.

Enraged, she slapped Wei He across the face. Wei He's hand holding the wine cup froze in mid-air. Turning his head in utter confusion, he asked aggrievedly, "What are you doing? Are you crazy? Why did you hit me?"

"What am I doing? You know exactly what you did! Hmph!" With a cold snort, Neme stood up and walked out the door, leaving the bewildered Wei He behind in the room, still in a state of shock.

Walking out of the room, Neme's face was flushed crimson. Her fair little hands touched her burning cheeks, and her smile was so wide it almost reached her ears. As she walked, she whispered, "Hmph, smelly man, so wicked!"

After waiting in the Lord's Mansion for two days, the chronosphere's cooldown was finally complete. Wei He said to Neme, who was eating hotpot, "We can go back after you finish eating!"

"Go back where?" Neme's mouth was still full of Giant Ox meat slices. She was becoming more and more interested in Wei He; he always managed to come up with new things. For instance, she had never had this hotpot before—who knew food could be eaten this way?

"Back to the front lines, Great General! Have you drunk yourself silly?" Wei He's words instantly snapped Neme back to reality.

"Tsk, I know! Is your Space Mage back?" Neme finished the meat in her mouth, wiped her lips, and followed Wei He out to the anti-air tracked vehicle in the courtyard.

Everyone boarded the armored vehicles. Blue spatial ripples enveloped the dozen or so armored vehicles, and with a 'swish,' they vanished from the spot.

On the Kodo Beast Hills, the dozen armored vehicles appeared out of thin air, surrounded by the continuous roar of gunfire and artillery.

"What's going on?" Neme asked from inside the vehicle, hearing the commotion outside.

"A battle. The demon soldiers have started attacking again!" Wei He explained as he opened the door and stepped out.

Neme followed Wei He down to the front lines of the battle. A group of Bozi Youning were lined up in formation, strafing the endless waves of charging demon soldiers. Batches of demon soldiers fell to the ground, only for another wave to rush forward.

Charlie was leading several Demon Race Commanders in a coordinated attack against Huang Yichen.

After the commanders of the three major factions had all gone missing, Charlie had recovered from his injuries with the help of an Abyssal Demon and led his troops to attack Kongdi City. However, although the magic soldiers in Kongdi City lacked a commander and many mages had been sacrificed, they still had many Beginner Magicians maintaining a massive Magic Array. Charlie led the demon soldiers in a long, unsuccessful siege against Kongdi City.

From the massive Magic Arrays at the four corners of Kongdi City, rays of light were emitted. These rays swept back and forth continuously, mowing down wave after wave of demon soldiers. Although Charlie's strength had been enhanced by demonic energy, he was still essentially an Intermediate Magician and could not withstand the attacks of the light rays.

Therefore, he settled for the next best thing and led his troops to attack the Kodo Beast Hills. After all, his goal all along had been to eliminate Wei He and his Red Alert Troops.

But what he hadn't expected was when Wei He's troops had acquired a World-Shocking Level Ability User. As an Intermediate Magician, he was suppressed by the level difference, so he led several Demon Race Commanders under him to besiege Huang Yichen together. After all, the Demon Race Commanders were also Great Demon-level powerhouses.

(The ranks of the Demon Race from lowest to highest are: Lesser Demon < Mid-tier Demon < Great Demon < Demon Lord < Demon Venerable < Demon King < Archdemon King < Demon Emperor < Demon God)

However, even with the help of several Demon Race Commanders, they still couldn't defeat Huang Yichen. Every time Charlie's demonic energy hit Huang Yichen, it would cause brief damage, but he would recover from his injuries incredibly quickly and even expel the demonic energy from his body, leaving Charlie quite speechless.

If Charlie knew that as a Three-Star Red Alert Soldier, Huang Yichen's self-healing ability had reached extreme speeds with the help of the red alert system, one wonders if he would beg Wei He to take him in just to possess such an ability.

Just as Charlie was at a loss, Huang Yichen seized an opportunity and used an Earth Wall to directly swat away a Demon Race Commander. The Demon Race Commander flew back, spitting green blood, and the sound of bones shattering could be heard as the Earth Wall struck; he likely wouldn't be able to rejoin the fight anytime soon.

With one less person helping, the remaining Demon Race Commanders struggled even more. They were soon picked off one by one by Huang Yichen, sent flying into the sky by Earth Walls and earth pillars rising from the ground. Judging by their pig-like screams and the fresh green blood falling from the sky, it was clear they were seriously injured.

Seeing that his side was at a disadvantage, Charlie immediately turned to flee, only to have his path blocked and himself surrounded by Earth Walls rising on all four sides. Just as he tried to vault over the top, Huang Yichen appeared above the four walls, holding another Earth Wall.

Looking up at Huang Yichen in the sky, Charlie's eyes gradually filled with despair. Huang Yichen looked down with disdain at Charlie below. Finally, with a forceful shove of both hands, he threw the Earth Wall in his grasp. With a 'bang,' the Earth Wall landed perfectly atop the four walls, sealing them seamlessly. Then, the five Earth Walls bonded tightly together as if they had grown that way naturally.

Inside, Charlie cried out to the heavens and earth to no avail, frantically using magic to attack. Unfortunately, how could an Intermediate Magician possibly break through the Earth Wall of a World-Shocking Level Earth Element Ability User?

Wei He wasn't the only one who saw this; Carlos, positioned at the rear of the demon soldiers, saw it too. He hadn't intended to intervene because he still considered himself an official of the Magic Empire. Attacking the Red Alert Troops now would confirm the charge of collaborating with the enemy and treason, even though he hated Wei He to the bone.

A few days ago, when Carlos had fully recovered from his injuries and tried to return to Kongdi City, he hadn't expected the magic soldiers there to refuse him entry. Moreover, they wanted to arrest him, calling him a traitor who had collaborated with the enemy.

No matter how he explained, it was to no avail. He watched as more and more soldiers surrounded him, and even his former mage friends were unwilling to help him.

When he was rescued by Charlie, he still didn't know what had happened until Charlie told him that he himself had stood before the battle lines and declared his loyalty to the Demon Race and his betrayal of the Magic Empire. His eyes turned red with agitation as he questioned angrily, "How is that possible? I stayed in my room the whole time and never went out. It's impossible for me to have gone to the front lines and said such things!"

"It's fine, Father. I think what you said was very right, no need to feel embarrassed. The Demon Race is truly powerful. Just look at Lord Henry; he defeated a Magister-level mage so easily!" Charlie said with a face full of pride.

"What? Neme, what happened to Neme?" As soon as Carlos heard, he knew something had happened to Neme. After all, she was the only Magister-level mage in that sortie.

"She was knocked unconscious by Lord Henry and taken away!" Charlie explained slowly.

"You beast! How could you let her be taken away? I'll beat you to death, you beast!" Hearing this, Carlos angrily grabbed a nearby stick and began beating Charlie.
