97: A bag of golden beans

Wei He was holding onto the feet of two fat men. Each of these men looked to weigh two to three hundred pounds on their own, but Wei He was spinning them around in circles, one in each hand.

They were howling in terror, desperately begging Wei He for mercy. One of them even vomited in mid-air, spewing vomit everywhere.

Nime quickly stood up and retreated to the back. Several Spies, very perceptive, stepped forward to shield Nime.

Having played around enough and finding it no longer amusing, Wei He simply threw the two fat men out of the restaurant, one in each hand. One fat man landed with a thud, and the other, screaming like a slaughtered pig, flew over and landed squarely on top of the first one.

"Ah! Ouch, it hurts so much!" The two fat men spat blood, writhing and wailing in agony on the ground.

"Heh heh heh, big brother, I was wrong. I'm not human. I failed to recognize Mount Tai. Oh, oh, oh, I can't take it anymore, I'm done for!" Zhao Dan pleaded for mercy from Wei He while slapping his own face and collapsing to the ground.

"Hmph, get lost! Seriously, I've completely lost my appetite now!" Nime said angrily. The entire restaurant was now covered in either blood or vomit, which was utterly revolting.

Upon hearing Nime's words, Zhao Dan immediately replied, "Okay, okay, I'll go, I'll go!"

As he said this, he immediately curled his body into a ball and began rolling towards the restaurant exit.

"Let's go too. We really can't stay here any longer!" Wei He said slowly to the group.

"Hmph!" Nime snorted and walked ahead on her own.

As the group rode slowly out of the city in the Beast Carriage, they passed by the Apothecary and saw the Fat Boss still berating a young shop assistant.

"Speak! Where on earth did you take my treasure?" The Fat Boss, sitting on a chair and holding a cup of tea, roared angrily.

"Boss, I really did give it to you. You just asked me to fetch it for you from the inner room. Have you lost your memory? Boss!" The young assistant, kneeling on the ground, said with great grievance.

"What? When did I ever ask you to fetch it for me? Did you embezzle my treasure, thinking of starting your own business? Huh? Your wings have hardened now, wanting to fly solo!" The Fat Boss took a sip of tea and roared furiously.

"It really was you who took it. You went out, then came back, asked me to give it to you, and then left again. I'm really not lying!" The young assistant said with a face full of terror.

"Hand it over now, and I'll let bygones be bygones, pretend this never happened. Otherwise, I'll report you to the authorities and have you thrown in jail. Hmph!" The Fat Boss threatened the young assistant.

"I really didn't take it! And besides, you can't report it, can you? How that thing came to be, aren't you the one who knows best?" The young assistant's eyes shifted, and he weakly reminded the Fat Boss.

"You dare threaten me? Who took the thing? Go get it back for me. Otherwise, you'll be prepared to work here for the rest of your life. A lifetime of work might not even be enough to pay for that one treasure!" The Fat Boss said viciously, then walked inside the Apothecary.

"It wasn't me, it really wasn't me. It was clearly you who took it!" The young assistant said, crying. While sobbing, his thin clothes revealed arms covered in scars.

"Hey, young assistant, what's your name?" Wei He asked softly from the doorway.

"My name is Wu Yidan. What do you want?" Wu Yidan looked at Wei He, puzzled.

"Don't kneel anymore. Stand up. Be a man!" Wei He tossed a bag to Wu Yidan, then turned, boarded the Beast Carriage, and left, leaving Wu Yidan staring blankly at the bag.

When he opened the bag and saw it was full of gold beans, he immediately covered the pouch, hid it inside his clothes, looked around to see no one was watching, and then desperately ran out of the Apothecary, dashing forward without a care. At the same time, he made up his mind: he wouldn't come back, never again.

Just as Wei He's group reached the city gate, they were stopped by soldiers holding spears.

"The Magistrate has ordered a city-wide lockdown effective immediately. No one is allowed to leave. You all go back quickly. The gates will be closed soon!" Soldier A said harshly.

"Let me tell you, if you have no business, don't wander around the streets. If you get caught as thieves, don't blame us!" Soldier B, with a greasy, powdered face, was looking at himself in a mirror, his pinky finger raised, which gave Wei He a chill.

"Oh no, I just gave all the money to that Wu Yidan. Now we can't get through!" Wei He whispered to Nime.

"Tch, if you can't get through without money, you really don't have a brain either!" Nime rolled her eyes at Wei He and turned her face away again.

"Hmm, that makes sense!" Wei He got off the Beast Carriage and said to the two gate guards, "Are there only the two of you guarding the gate right now?"

"See up there? There are over a dozen more brothers in the gatehouse. What, you wanna try something?" Soldier B pointed to the gatehouse above.

"Yeah, how did you know?" As soon as Wei He finished speaking, a golden fist struck Soldier B's cheek.

Soldier B flew out of the city gate entirely. The left side of his face was deformed, sunken in a large indentation.

"Ah! Someone's forcing their way through the gate!" Soldier A shouted while drawing his sword. Wei He slapped his palm over Soldier A's mouth. The man crashed into the wall, bounced back, covered his mouth with his hand, blood seeping through his fingers. When he removed his hand, there were several teeth in his palm.

"My teeth! Ah, my front teeth!" Soldier A cried.

"Someone's forcing the gate! Quick, quick!" The soldiers in the gatehouse heard the commotion and began rushing down.

"Hyah!" Wei He boarded the Beast Carriage and quickly sped out of the city. Simultaneously, he ordered the multifunctional infantry vehicle to come for support.

Wei He had just exited the city gate when over a dozen soldiers gave chase. Wei He whipped the beasts so hard sparks almost flew. The Beast Carriage raced ahead, almost shaking them off, when suddenly, from the grass by the roadside ahead, a squad of demon soldiers charged out.

This squad of demon soldiers had two horns on their heads, green pupils, bodies covered in black scales with an additional layer of fine steel armor on the outside. They held spears, stood in neat formation, and awaited Wei He's arrival.

"Pursuers behind, demon soldiers ahead. We're done for now! I could handle the pursuers, but what about the demon soldiers?" Wei He pulled on the reins, and the Beast Carriage gradually slowed to a stop.

"You just said you could handle the pursuers, so let's go!" Nime said coldly.

"What time is it for this? Stop being stubborn. If you have a way, just say it!" Wei He was almost in tears.

"What way could there be? If you can handle the pursuers, then go back. But the demon soldiers will surely chase us. You'd better be careful!" Nime calmly stroked the hair at her temple and looked at Wei He.

"Now we can't handle either side. Look!" Hearing Wei He's words, Nime looked in the direction he pointed. Behind the dozen or so pursuers, another group of demon soldiers had appeared, streaming endlessly from the city gate towards them in a grand formation.

"Sigh, when were we exposed? The demons really value you and me!" Wei He thought his identity as a Magic Empire lord had been revealed.

"In my opinion, no, it probably isn't because of our identities." As soon as Nime finished speaking, Wei He saw two people on horseback amidst the demon soldiers. One of them was Zhao Dan, the one Wei He had beaten up.

"Oh, this is aimed at you!" The corner of Wei He's mouth twitched into a wicked grin.

"You've got it wrong. Now he's coming for you. You're the one who hit him!" Nime said, blinking her eyes and sticking out her tongue.
