137: Soaring Ghost Vine Waterweed

"Jack is my disciple, and this Golden Rainbow Flame Divine Beast was a gift I gave him. When I saw it again, I knew something must have happened to him!" The old man looked at the Golden Rainbow Flame Divine Beast and continued to feed it.

"Are you also a member of the demon race?" Charlie asked with uncertainty, which made the old man burst into laughter.

"You weren't originally a member of the demon race, were you? The demon scales on your body are the masterpiece of an Abyssal Demon. I have a way to make you a normal person again, so you should stop obsessing over the mad corpse divine scale!" A gentle light filled the old man's eyes as he spoke softly to Charlie.

"No, elder, I can no longer be a normal person. The world can no longer accept me, and I no longer care. Now, I only want to obtain the mad corpse divine scale, learn the Demon King's skills, and then go take revenge on Wei He!" Charlie clenched his fists tightly, pressing them into the mud by the lake.

"Very well, then I will tell you how to enter the bottom of the lake. First, you need a water repelling pearl to cover your head; otherwise, after such a long time at the bottom of the lake, you will suffocate to death!" The old man mounted the Golden Rainbow Flame Divine Beast and said leisurely.

"A water repelling pearl? What is that? Where should I look for it?" Three big question marks appeared over Charlie's head as he looked at the old man's relaxed posture on the Golden Rainbow Flame Divine Beast and asked slowly.

"You are working for the demon race now, so you should know the Demon King Henry, right? This little guy is mediocre in ability; he likes to brag, and he is too lustful. No matter how you advise him, he won't listen! Hahahaha!" The old man said as he rode the Golden Rainbow Flame Divine Beast toward the wooden house.

"Demon King Henry... it's him. I think I've met him, but where can I find him?" Charlie frowned and asked with confusion.

"That is your problem. Also, I am taking back the Golden Rainbow Flame Divine Beast. You are on your own!" The old man rode the Golden Rainbow Flame Divine Beast further and further away, shouting loudly.

"I thought that finding the Rotten Lake would allow me to get the mad corpse divine scale, but now I have to go find someone else. Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! And the divine beast was taken away too!" Charlie roared at the sky in a breakdown.

After shouting, Charlie composed himself and walked back toward the direction of the Demons Lair: "With so many demon race members, someone must know where Demon King Henry lives!"

Charlie walked from the desolate Rotten Lake to a bustling market. A young man dressed in bright, flashy white clothes, with a straight nose bridge, pale lips, and a folding fan in his hand, was riding a large bay horse through the street very leisurely.

The young man in white rode the bay horse up to Charlie, his eyes wide, pointing his fair finger at Charlie and cursing: "Do you not have eyes? Seeing me coming, you still don't get out of the way? Blocking the road like a post, I hate these brainless idiots the most. Hey, hey, hey, hey, you still don't know how to move, even after I've said that? Sigh, sometimes I really feel sorry for you people!"

"Sigh, what are you doing? Do you believe I'll report you to the officials? Ah!" The young man in white was pulled off the horse by his collar by Charlie. Charlie turned, mounted the bay horse, and began to ride toward the outskirts of the city.

"Give me back my horse, you little thief, you uneducated wretch!" The young man in white's face turned red with anger as he chased after the horse, cursing.

"Hmph, seeking death!" Charlie snorted coldly. A black fireball shot out from his palm, hitting the young man in white in the face. When the black fireball touched the young man's body, it drilled straight inside. Immediately after, the young man's body began to shrink rapidly. The young man, who was originally over 1.8 meters tall, turned into a half-meter-tall creature like a small child. Pedestrians on the street gathered around to watch him. A burly man gathered the courage to lift his clothes, and under the clothes, only a skeleton remained. The reason he became so short was that his thigh bones had long since fallen apart, and only the ribs on his upper body remained standing.

"Giddy up! Giddy up!" After dealing with the young man in white, Charlie rode the bay horse at full speed, without sleep or rest. When the bay horse could no longer hold on, he snatched a black horse and continued forward. Finally, after traveling for several days and nights, he returned to the Demons Lair.

"General Charlie is back! General Charlie is back!" A small soldier took the initiative to step forward, took Charlie's horse, and shouted inside loudly.

"General Charlie, General Charlie, you're back. Did you find the mad corpse divine scale?" A group of demon soldiers surrounded Charlie, and their excitement was evident in their expressions.

"I found it. Does anyone know where Demon King Henry's residence is?" Charlie panted heavily and said slowly.

"He seems to live in the Alashi Cave on East Throat Mountain!" A demon soldier responsible for escorting Rutgar said, looking at Charlie excitedly.

"Good, get me another fast horse. I will go to the Alashi Cave on East Throat Mountain immediately!" Charlie took the water the demon soldier handed him and drank it in large gulps.

At the entrance of the Alashi Cave, Rutgar was chained by his neck. When he saw Charlie arrive, he just kept his eyes tightly closed.

"Why are you here?" Henry appeared from behind Charlie and asked loudly.

"Oh, elder, I am here to borrow something from you..." Charlie told Henry about his experiences over the past few days.

"Fine, I will give you the water repelling pearl. Also, say hello to the old man for me!" Henry originally didn't want to lend it to Charlie, but after hearing about the old man from Divine Oracle Ridge, his attitude did a complete 180-degree turn.

"Okay, I understand!" Charlie walked into Henry's cave. The dazzling array of treasures made Charlie's green eyes unable to open wide. He took the water repelling pearl from Henry's hand, hurriedly turned, mounted his horse, and galloped into the distance, as if afraid Henry would change his mind.

More than ten days later, Charlie finally arrived in front of the wooden house on Divine Oracle Ridge: "Elder, I have borrowed the water repelling pearl. Can I go into the water now?"

"Oh my, why did it take so long! Your cultivation is still too low. Sigh, young man, besides the water repelling pearl, you also need one more item: the scale armor of an Iron-Scaled Crocodile. The Iron-Scaled Crocodile is the only animal that can freely travel at the bottom of the Rotten Lake. Its scale armor can perfectly resist the sky-piercing ghost vine waterweed!" The old man was incredulous; the young man in front of him couldn't even walk on the void and had run back on the ground for more than ten days.

"Oh, okay, I'll go hunt one!" Hearing this, Charlie's eyes lit up. He was only one step away from getting the mad corpse divine scale.

Charlie happily came to the side of the Rotten Lake, saw the Iron-Scaled Crocodiles swimming leisurely in the lake, and without saying a word, activated his magic energy. A circular Magic Array filled with black energy appeared in front of him. A black pillar of fire sprayed out from the Magic Array, circling the Iron-Scaled Crocodiles in the lake continuously until dozens of Iron-Scaled Crocodiles were floating on the surface of the lake with their bellies up.

"This isn't that difficult either. As the saying goes, it was effortless. Hahahaha!" Charlie looked at a tall tree on the side that one person could barely embrace, struck it with his palm, chopped it in half, and threw it directly into the lake.

Charlie stepped on the wood, intending to pull these Iron-Scaled Crocodile corpses back, but as soon as he paddled not far into the lake, countless waterweeds with slime and barbs rose from the lake, wrapping around the wood, and even Charlie was entangled.

"Hmph, I already told you that the sky-piercing ghost vine waterweed in the lake is difficult to deal with, yet you didn't learn, rashly entering the lake!" The old man lightly tapped his toes, flew into the air, and his withered palm grabbed Charlie's shoulder, pulling Charlie directly out from the waterweeds.
