117: Sixth Prince Brant
Zhang Yong got out of bed and poured a glass of water from the kettle on the table. The severe pain in his chest made the hand holding the kettle tremble uncontrollably.
"This shouldn't be happening. A small external injury like this should be nothing to me. I've recovered from much worse before. I've already applied the medicine, so why does it keep getting more painful?" Zhang Yong muttered to himself, stroking his gauze-wrapped chest.
Zhang Yong slowly unwrapped the gauze. Inside was the wound Wei He had sliced open with the qingxia demon blade. The wound and the surrounding skin were now red and swollen, throbbing with bouts of stinging pain. The healing process had completely stalled, and blood continued to seep out.
"How can a small wound end up like this? No, it must be that little golden man from earlier; he did something to the blade. I knew a blade that sharp, glowing with that green light, had to have some issue! Ah—!" Zhang Yong roared in agony, his mind racing as he pinned all the blame on Wei He. Of course, he didn't know the little golden man was Wei He, otherwise he would have cursed Wei He for being despicable again.
Zhang Yong's pained roars were heard clearly by the Spy outside the door, and all this information was transmitted to Wei He's ears.
"Hey, I say, Blant, your business is quite large, isn't it? To actually have so many natural treasures. What exactly do you do?" Wei He asked in a calm tone. After all, how could an ordinary merchant possess so many good things?
"Oh, my own business isn't that big. However, my father's business is quite substantial; I'm just running errands for him. This time, I was originally just passing through, but seeing Linlin's beauty, I stayed for a few extra days!" Blant replied truthfully to Wei He.
"Who is your father? For his business to be this big, he must be very famous!" Wei He asked casually, while inwardly lamenting that lust truly is a blade over one's head. If it weren't for Linlin, you wouldn't have become my puppet.
"Oh, my father is the King of the Magical Beast Empire—Vesemir! I am his sixth and youngest son!" Blant replied respectfully to Wei He.
"What? You're actually the King's son? Then you're a Prince! My god! A Prince actually became my puppet. If your father found out about this, wouldn't he send an army to crusade against me?" Wei He spat out the water he had just sipped. He never would have guessed in a million years that this useless person before him, who didn't have a speck of energy, was actually the Sixth Prince of the Magical Beast Empire.
"Then we just can't let him know. Fortunately, only the two of us know about this!" Linlin stuck out her tongue playfully, speaking to Wei He in a cute tone. And indeed, only the two of them really 'knew'; Huang Yichen and Blant were both puppets, and Yuri was Wei He's subordinate. Wei He had said that all the Red Alert Troops were his army of puppets.
"Hmm, true. Doesn't that mean you might become the King of the Magical Beast Empire? Hahahaha!" At the thought that an entire country could become his backyard, Wei He's eyes lit up instantly, and he asked with great excitement.
"That hope is likely slim. I have five older brothers ahead of me, and they are all Ability Users with their own factions. Most of the ministers in court support them. The King will certainly be chosen from among the five of them!" Blant's words were like a bucket of cold water poured over Wei He's head. On second thought, Wei He realized it made sense; who would pass the throne to a waste like Blant?
"Aw, then we can help him take the throne, can't we, Brother Wei He?" Linlin's eyes crinkled into lines as she spoke with a beaming smile.
"That's an option. We'll talk about it later. For now, let's find a way to take down Zhang Yong! It's daytime now, and there are too many people to make a move. We'll wait until midnight. Besides, he was wounded by the qingxia demon blade. The longer we wait, the greater the damage from the nuclear radiation. When the time comes, we can take him down without lifting a finger!" Wei He's eyebrows shot up, and the flesh on his face quivered with his grin.
"Ah! Really? That's wonderful! That way, we'll soon find the person who hired the assassin to kill you!" Linlin said happily.
At the stroke of midnight, the moon hung high. Under the moonlight, the trio of Wei He, accompanied by a group of American Soldiers and Yuri, walked along the street leading to the Stone Bridge Inn. Wei He walked at the very front, the qingxia demon blade propped on his shoulder, his mouth curled in a smirk as he strode down the deserted street, looking extremely arrogant.
The occasional person who saw this formation hid away in fear. Finally, they arrived in front of the Stone Bridge Inn. A Spy quickly ran out from inside and whispered something to Wei He.
"Hmm, alright, I understand!" Relieved to know Zhang Yong was still in the inn, Wei He turned to Huang Yichen and said, "You are at the same level as him now. Take this blade and make sure to capture him, but don't kill him, understood?"
"By your command, Commander!" Huang Yichen reached out both hands and respectfully received the qingxia demon blade.
After taking the qingxia demon blade, Huang Yichen lightly tapped the ground and leaped into the air, stopping at a height of two stories. He swung the great blade from top to bottom, cleaving down toward the inn.
A green blade-wind erupted from the sword and struck the inn. The two-story building, along with the Stone Bridge Inn signboard, was sliced clean in half, and the second-floor rooms collapsed instantly.
"A precious blade still needs to be in the hands of a powerful person to unleash its true might!" Watching the collapsing inn, Wei He's pupils contracted sharply, and his mouth hung open for a long time as he remarked with great emotion.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yong had already leaped into the air to dodge the attack. He had been in his room tending to his wound, which had been bleeding non-stop. He was constantly changing the gauze and wiping away the blood, wondering why this wound was so difficult to treat, when a massive blade-wind swept toward him. He immediately broke through the roof and flew into the air just as the inn was reduced to ruins by the wind of the blade.
"It's you! You again! You actually healed your injuries so quickly!" Seeing Huang Yichen holding the demon blade, looking completely relaxed without any sign of being injured, Zhang Yong's face turned ashen, and sweat instantly broke out on his forehead.
"Hahahaha, looking at you, you don't seem to be feeling too well. It's just a tiny wound, so why are your lips turning pale and your forehead breaking out in a cold sweat? Are you suffering from kidney deficiency? Ah, hahahaha!" Wei He gave a cold laugh, turned his head away, and shrugged his shoulders with a playful grin.
"You... you really didn't die. I should have known it was some trick of your Puppet Technique. Although I'm currently feeling a bit under the weather with a cough or two, you small fries are still no match for a Zhentian Level Ability User like me! Hahahaha!" Zhang Yong endured the pain, putting on a relaxed front as he laughed.
"Oh, so it's just a cold? Looking at you, I thought you were about to die. In that case, let my subordinate play with you some more. Do it!" After Wei He said this, he ordered Huang Yichen to attack.
Receiving Wei He's command, Huang Yichen immediately raised the demon blade and charged at Zhang Yong. Zhang Yong, enduring the pain, originally wanted to end the fight quickly and finish off Huang Yichen. However, as soon as they clashed, Zhang Yong's expression changed drastically. The person before him had been his defeated foe just yesterday, suffering heavy injuries that should have taken even Zhang Yong himself a year or so to recover from. Yet, he had recovered in just one day, and now it seemed his Supernatural Ability level had also upgraded to the Zhentian Level.
