95: Heavenly fruit

"Ah, damn it! Where on earth did that little girl go?" Henry shouted in a rage, leaping into the air.

The village women were terrified by the scene and ran back to their homes, no longer daring to gossip.

From the air, Henry could only see the mountain covered in flames and smoke. What he couldn't see was that on the other side of the mountain, the Spy had already sped away in the multifunctional infantry vehicle toward Wei He's location.

Henry flailed his arms in anger. Looking at the burning mountain, he thrust out both palms, releasing a burst of black demonic energy. It struck the peak with overwhelming force, instantly extinguishing the raging flames and leaving only a sky full of smoke to block his vision.

About 200 miles south of Dragons Maw Mountain, Wei He and the others were waiting anxiously. With the help of the spy satellite, he saw a town nearby. red alert soldiers didn't need to eat, but Wei He was famished after all the chaos.

Looking at the immobile and scantily clad Neme, Wei He decided to head to the town for supplies, at the very least to buy her a complete set of clothes.

Just as he stepped off the anti-air tracked vehicle, he saw someone in coarse hemp clothes driving a Beast Carriage toward the town.

Without a word, Wei He ordered Yuri to control the man. As the Beast Carriage approached, Wei He carried Neme onto it and entered the town with only a few Spies. The Radiation Engineer and Chrono Legionnaire looked too strange for this continent, so they stayed outside. In case of an emergency, the Chrono Legionnaire could provide timely support.

They entered the town openly on the Beast Carriage. As they passed a ready-made clothes shop, the owner stood at the door and greeted them warmly, "Young men, interested in some ready-made clothes? They're fresh from the shop, with trendy styles and bright colors, perfect for youngsters like you!"

"Sure, let's take a look!" The Beast Carriage stopped. Wei He smoothed his hair and got off the carriage, tossing his head in what he thought was a cool manner.

"Do you have any women's clothes?" Wei He was there specifically for Neme.

"Yes, yes, right inside. Please, how about this one?" the shop owner said enthusiastically, his thin face full of smiles.

The shop was small, and one could walk through it in two steps. A glance revealed a row of colorful but unremarkable clothes.

Wei He planned to buy a few pieces quickly and then go eat.

However, a noisy sound came from the Apothecary next door.

"Manager, Manager! I got it back! I got it back! Ouch!" A boy in his teens, dressed as a shop assistant, ran quickly into the shop holding an exquisite box.

As he was about to enter, he tripped over the threshold. With a cry of pain, he fell, and a small, fiery red fruit dropped out of the box. He quickly picked it up, put it back, and looked around nervously, afraid of being seen.

Neme, lying on the Beast Carriage, happened to see this. A chubby middle-aged man dressed in silk and satin came out from the back of the shop and shouted harshly, "Can't you do anything right? If you break the treasure, I'll skin you alive!"

He lowered his voice when mentioning the treasure, then snatched the box, peeked inside, and quickly closed it.

"Hehe, luckily it's not broken. Go on, get back to work!" the fat boss said with a look of disgust, then walked inside with the box.

"Tsk, Zhou the Skinflint. One of these days, I'll beat the life out of you!" the boy muttered, rubbing his bleeding palm.

Wei He, unaware of all this, picked out a few items and asked the owner, "Do you have any female service staff here?"

"What? What is a female service staff? This is a respectable clothes shop, we don't have any of that nonsense!" the shop owner said righteously.

Only then did Wei He realize he had misspoken; the concept of "waitresses" didn't exist on this continent.

"Is there any woman in your shop? Have her change her clothes," Wei He said, pointing to Neme on the carriage.

"No, we're all men here. How can a woman show her face in public? Don't you agree?" the shop owner said slowly.

"Fine, fine. How much?" Wei He asked impatiently.

The owner had just held up two fingers when Wei He tossed two gold ingots onto the table. The words the owner was about to say were immediately swallowed back down.

After buying the clothes and returning to the Beast Carriage, Neme told him, "I just saw an extraterrestrial fruit in that shop. It can temporarily suppress demonic energy!"

"Okay, I'll go buy it," Wei He said confidently, looking at the small Apothecary.

"Buy it? How much money did you bring this time?" Neme asked doubtfully.

"I was in a hurry to save you, so I only brought some gold. It should be enough, right? The shop isn't that big," Wei He said innocently.

"The extraterrestrial fruit is a rare treasure. I don't know how the owner of such a small shop got it, but it's extremely scarce. The gold you have probably isn't enough!" Neme rolled her eyes as she educated him.

"No way, is it that expensive? It sounds like just a small fruit," Wei He's face was full of disbelief.

"Could an ordinary herb suppress the demonic energy of the Demon Race? Stop talking and go get it before anyone else notices!" Neme was speechless and gave Wei He a direct order.

"Get it? Okay, I understand," Wei He said thoughtfully.

Neme watched with a forehead full of black lines as Wei He walked into the Apothecary. Just as he entered, he saw a fat man rushing out.

"Ah, customer, what can I get for you?" the shop boy asked warmly.

"I'm here for medicine, of course. What else, tea?" Wei He said arrogantly.

"We have tea too. It's good for your health!" the boy continued to introduce.

"No need. Call your boss out! I'll talk to him directly," Wei He said, sitting on a stool and glaring at the boy.

"The one who just walked out is the boss!" the boy said, pointing in the direction of the fat man.

"Oh, that makes things much simpler!" Wei He said and walked out, leaving the bewildered boy to mutter "idiot" under his breath.

Just as he said that, the fat boss ran back in and pointed at the boy, "Give me that thing you just brought back!"

"Huh? Manager, didn't I just give it to you?" the boy asked, spreading his hands.

"I know! I'm telling you to give it to me again!" the fat boss shouted angrily, looking down at the boy.

"But where did you put it?" the boy asked aggrievedly.

"In the usual place for precious herbs! Do I need to tell you that too? Can't you handle even this? What am I paying you for?" the fat boss ranted, spraying saliva as he scolded the boy.

"Yes, yes, I'll get it right away!" The boy jogged to the back of the shop.

After a moment, he came out with the box and handed it to the fat boss. The boss looked at the box and muttered to himself, "You just have to be difficult. If I don't scold you, you don't know what to do. Hmph! Useless brat!"
