60: Chapter 60 Perfect Potion

Inside the Basement of the Farmhouse, Chen Mo sat at the workbench, staring at that perfect sequence potion.

The pale golden liquid swayed gently inside the syringe, with countless tiny specks of light floating within.

Those specks of light were arranged in a complex pattern, resembling a miniature galaxy.

He had been looking at it like this for two hours.

Lin Wei sat nearby, not saying a word.

She knew he was thinking.

The last words of the Apothecary kept echoing in Chen Mo's mind.

"The key to breaking the cycle is in your eyes."

What did that mean?

He picked up the research notebook and opened it.

The first page was the Apothecary's self-introduction, just a few simple lines stating that he was a failed researcher who, after being chosen by the Ghost Realm, had instead found a place where his skills could be used.

Flipping further, it was filled with recipes for various potions and insights on their refinement.

F-grade, E-grade, D-grade, C-grade, B-grade, A-grade.

Each one had detailed step-by-step instructions.

Flipping to the back, records of the perfect sequence potion appeared.

【perfect sequence potion · Research Log】

【Day 1: Theory established. The sequence fragment can serve as an energy source, and a stabilizer can suppress side effects. Theoretically, a promotion potion without side effects can be refined.】

【Day 37: First experiment failed. The ratio of Materials was incorrect, the potion exploded, and it blew off two of my fingers.】

【Day 98: Second experiment failed. Excessive stabilizer caused the potion to solidify into stone.】

【Day 156: Third experiment failed. The purity of the Ghost Shadow blood was insufficient, and the potion spoiled.】

【Day 234: Fourth experiment was half-successful. The potion was effective, but stability was insufficient. After consumption, it caused brief loss of control.】

【Day 365: Fifth experiment...】

The log continued until Day 1095.

Three years.

Three whole years.

The last page read:

【Day 1095: perfect sequence potion successfully refined.】

【But there is one problem — it requires a catalyst.】

【The catalyst must be alive, and it must be of the same source as the user.】

【I tried using Ghost Shadow blood, but it didn't work. Using the blood of an ordinary person didn't work either. Using my own blood still didn't work.】

【Later I discovered that the only catalyst is the eye of someone who possesses the Pupil of the Sequence.】

Chen Mo's finger stopped on that line of text.

The eye of someone who possesses the Pupil of the Sequence.

His own eyes.

That sentence the Apothecary said before he died —

"The key to breaking the cycle is in your eyes."

So that was what it meant.

Lin Wei looked at him.

"What's wrong?"

Chen Mo did not speak.

He turned the page and continued reading.

【Day 1096: I found someone who possesses the Pupil of the Sequence. But he is unwilling to give me his eyes. I don't blame him.】

【Day 1097: I decided to leave the potion for him. Perhaps one day, he will discover this secret himself.】

【Day 1098: The will of the ghost realm came to find me. It knows what I have done. I must hide it well.】

【Day 1099: If he comes, give the potion to him. As for whether to use it or not, let him decide for himself.】

The log ended there.

Chen Mo closed the notebook.

He looked down at the syringe.

The specks of light inside swayed gently, as if waiting for something.

It needed his eyes.

To be precise, it needed the power of the Pupil of the Sequence as a catalyst.

If he consumed it now, would he lose the Pupil of the Sequence?

Or would he turn into something else?

He did not know.

But he knew that something the Apothecary had spent three years researching could not simply be a trap.

Chen Mo put the syringe down.

He couldn't use it now.

At least, not without knowing the consequences.

He needed more information.

He needed to find the true meaning of "breaking the cycle."

Lin Wei looked at him.

"What do you plan to do?"

Chen Mo thought for a moment.

"Leave it for now," he said. "I'll use it after I find the answer."

Lin Wei nodded.

Chen Mo stood up and walked to the window.

Outside the window, the sky had already darkened.

The Ghost Night was coming again.

But he was not afraid.

What he feared more was using something he shouldn't and turning into something he shouldn't become.

Behind him, the syringe lay quietly on the workbench.

The pale golden liquid emitted a faint light in the darkness.

It was as if it were waiting.

Waiting for that moment to arrive.
