64: Chapter 64 Famous in the Ghost Realm

The pickup truck drove through the night.

Chen Mo gripped the steering wheel, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. The rule core sat on the passenger seat, the golden threads inside emitting a faint light in the darkness.

Lin Wei looked at the core.

"What is this thing used for?"

"Refining items," Chen Mo said. "Rule-based ones."

Lin Wei nodded and did not ask further.

After driving for about an hour, the lights of Trading Post No. 1 appeared ahead.

Chen Mo parked the car in the lot and turned off the engine.

"Rest for the night," he said. "We'll head back tomorrow."

Lin Wei nodded.

The two walked into the supermarket. Old Zhou was still behind the cash register, and his eyes lit up when he saw them enter.

"Coming here this late?"

Chen Mo didn't speak, simply pulling the rule core from his pocket and placing it on the counter.

Old Zhou stared at the core, his eyes widening.

"This is..."

"A rule core," Chen Mo said. "B-Rank."

Old Zhou gasped.

"You killed the Rule Weaver?"

Chen Mo nodded.

Old Zhou was silent for a few seconds.

Then he laughed.

The smile was complex—it seemed like relief, yet also shock.

"You're a fucking monster."

He pushed the core back.

"Keep it safe. This thing can be traded for a full set of gear on the black market."

Chen Mo put the core away.

Old Zhou looked at him, an undefinable expression in his eyes.

"Do you know what this means?"

Chen Mo shook his head.

"A B-Rank Abnormality, not many people in the entire region dare to touch one," Old Zhou said. "The fact that you could kill it means you are already standing among the very elite."

He paused.

"From today on, your name will spread throughout the entire Ghost Realm."

As soon as he finished speaking, the System announcement rang out.

【Regional Announcement】

【Congratulations to the Chosen One "Chen Mo" for killing the B-Rank Abnormality "Rule Weaver"】

【Kill Rating: Rule Breaker】

【Obtained Title: Rule Breaker】

【Hereby announced, known to the entire region】

Chen Mo looked at the text.

Rule Breaker.

B-Rank certification.

From today on, he was no longer that newcomer surviving the first night.

He was a legend.

【The regional channel exploded instantly】

【Anonymous: Holy shit? B-Rank?】

【Anonymous: Rule Weaver? Isn't that thing invincible?】

【Anonymous: Who is Chen Mo? How come I've never heard of him?】

【Anonymous: He's that first-night kill king, the first E-Rank, the first C-Rank】

【Anonymous: Damn, how long has it been and he's already killing B-Ranks?】

【Iron Bear: Awesome】

【Eagle Eye: ...】

【Shadow: Congratulations】

【Old Zhou: Congratulations, come have a drink when you have time】

Chen Mo closed the channel.

He turned and walked toward his room.

Lin Wei followed behind.

The two went up to the third floor and entered their respective rooms.

Chen Mo lay on the bed, looking at the ceiling.

B-Rank.

Rule Breaker.

These labels were not important.

What was important was that he was still alive.

And could continue to live on.

Outside the window, the Ghost Night continued.

The wailing sounds came from the distance, but the lights of the Trading Post blocked everything out.

Chen Mo closed his eyes.

He fell asleep.

Early the next morning, Chen Mo was woken up by a knock on the door.

He opened the door, and a person was standing outside.

A stranger.

In his thirties, thin, wearing a dirty trench coat. His eyes were bloodshot, as if he hadn't slept in a long time.

"Chen Mo?" he asked.

Chen Mo nodded.

The man breathed a sigh of relief.

"Finally found you."

He pulled a note from his pocket and handed it to Chen Mo.

"Someone asked me to give this to you."

Chen Mo took the note and unfolded it.

There was only one line of text on it:

"The will of the ghost realm is looking for you. Be careful."

No signature.

Chen Mo looked at the line of text.

"Who asked you to deliver this?"

The man shook his head.

"I don't know. An old man gave it to me by the side of Highway 17. He said you were here and told me to make sure it was delivered."

An old man.

Chen Mo thought of the Apothecary.

But the Apothecary was already dead.

Then who was it?

He put the note away.

"Thanks."

The man nodded and turned to leave.

Chen Mo stood at the doorway, looking at the note.

The will of the ghost realm was looking for him.

He knew this.

But why did someone want to warn him?

Who was that person?

He didn't know.

But he knew that from today on, everything was different.

B-Rank.

Rule Breaker.

A thorn in the side of the will of the ghost realm.

These labels added together meant—

He could no longer keep a low profile.

Chen Mo walked back into the room and packed his things.

Went downstairs, checked out, and got in the car.

Lin Wei was already waiting in the car.

"Where to?"

Chen Mo thought for a moment.

"Highway 17."

The pickup truck started up and drove out of the Trading Post.

In the rearview mirror, the lights of the Trading Post grew more and more distant.

Ahead, Highway 17 was waiting for him.

As well as the person who delivered the note.

And the old man who warned him.

And—

The will of the ghost realm.
