89: Chapter 89 Weakness Intelligence

Three days after Shadow left, Chen Mo received a private message from Old Zhou.

【Old Zhou: Come over if you have time, I have something to show you.】

Chen Mo closed the private message and started the engine. Lin Wei got into the passenger seat, and the pickup truck drove toward Trading Post No. 1.

An hour later, the lights of the Trading Post appeared in his field of vision. Chen Mo parked the car in the parking lot and walked into the supermarket. Old Zhou was behind the checkout counter; seeing him enter, he pulled a tin box from under the counter.

"Someone asked me to pass this on to you."

Chen Mo opened the tin box. Inside was a notebook, very old, with a severely worn cover and yellowed pages. He flipped to the first page, where a line of text was written:

"Dedicated to the successor. I hope you can accomplish what I could not."

It was the Apothecary's handwriting.

Chen Mo paused for a moment. "When did he give this to you?"

"Three days ago," Old Zhou said. "While he was still around, he asked me to pass this on to you. He said if there ever came a day when he was no longer here, I should give this to you."

Chen Mo was silent for a few seconds. The Apothecary was dead, but he had left this notebook behind. He flipped to the second page, and the content within made him pause.

It wasn't a potion formula, but research regarding the will of the ghost realm.

"The thing the will of the ghost realm fears most is emotion." — That was what the first line read.

Chen Mo continued reading.

"Higher-dimensional existences cannot understand lower-dimensional emotions. They can calculate everything, yet they cannot comprehend why someone would die for others, why someone would persevere in despair, or why someone would choose to give up eternal life."

"These are their blind spots."

Chen Mo's finger stopped on that line of text.

Emotion. The weakness of the will of the ghost realm.

He continued flipping through.

"If you want to attack it using emotion, you need a special medium — an emotional sequence potion. This potion can artificially stimulate intense emotions, allowing the user to become a vessel for emotion for a period of time. The stronger the emotion, the stronger the attack effect."

"Side effect: Emotions that are too intense may affect judgment; precise dosage control is required."

"The formula is as follows —"

Chen Mo looked at that page of the formula. The Materials were complex, requiring the blood of an A-Rank Ghost Shadow, sequence core fragments, and several things he had never seen before. But he had most of the Materials.

He closed the notebook and stood up.

Old Zhou looked at him. "Is it useful?"

Chen Mo nodded. "It is useful."

He turned and walked toward the door.

"Chen Mo." Old Zhou called out to him. Chen Mo turned back. Old Zhou's expression was complex. "That thing, the will of the ghost realm, do you really intend to deal with it?"

Chen Mo was silent for a second. "Yes."

Old Zhou looked at him for a long time, then nodded. "Come back alive."

Chen Mo did not speak. He pushed open the door and walked into the night.

When he returned to the Farmhouse, it was already dark. Chen Mo sat at the workbench, opened the notebook, and carefully studied the formula page.

【emotional sequence potion · Formula】【Effect: Within 30 minutes after consumption, emotional fluctuation intensity increases by 300%】【Side effect: Emotions that are too intense may affect judgment】【Required Materials: A-Rank Ghost Shadow blood × 1, sequence core fragment × 3, emotional catalyst × 1, stabilizing matrix × 5】

He had the A-Rank Ghost Shadow blood — it was the Void Sniper's. He had the sequence core fragments. He had the stabilizing matrix. Emotional catalyst — he flipped to the next page.

【Emotional Catalyst · Description】【Can be extracted from the memories of a Chosen One, requires the subject to be willing】【Extraction process: The user recalls their most intense emotional moment, and the Pupil of the Sequence converts it into a physical entity】

Chen Mo looked at that line of text.

The most intense emotional moment.

He closed his eyes. Images flashed in his mind — the entrance to the Orphanage, five-year-old him carrying a duffel bag, looking around blankly. The director stood at the entrance with a cold expression. Teacher Li crouched down and said to him, "Don't be afraid, from now on, this will be your home."

And that photo, the woman's face. His mother, whom he had never met. The words on the back of the photo: "Chen Mo, I'm sorry. Mom loves you."

Chen Mo opened his eyes. Emotional catalyst. He could extract it from his own memories. But it required consent.

He stood up and walked to the window. Outside, the night was thick. The Ghost Night was still continuing, and those wails came from the distance.

Chen Mo took a deep breath. Then he turned around, walked back to the workbench, and began to prepare.

The Materials were laid out on the table — the Void Sniper's blood, three sequence core fragments, five units of stabilizing matrix. He took the photo out of his pocket and placed it on the table. The woman's face, the crooked handwriting. "Mom loves you."

Chen Mo looked at the photo. Then he closed his eyes and began the extraction.

Those memories surged forth — the corridor of the Orphanage, Teacher Li's smile, the director's coldness. The winter he was five, he had a high fever, and Teacher Li kept watch by his bedside. The day he left the Orphanage, she stood at the entrance and said, "Live well."

And that photo. That woman, the mother he had never met. She stood at the entrance of the Orphanage, holding him, crying. Then she placed him on the steps, turned around, and left.

Those memories surged like a tide. Chen Mo's body began to tremble. Those golden lines surged wildly beneath his skin.

【Extracting emotional catalyst】【Current progress: 47%...63%...82%...】

His hands were shaking, and his eyes were burning. But he did not stop.

【Extraction complete】【Obtained: emotional catalyst × 1】

Chen Mo opened his eyes. Floating in front of him was a ball of golden light, the size of a fist, with countless tiny specks of light drifting inside. Those specks of light arranged themselves into various shapes — a face, a pair of hands, a line of text.

He put the ball of light away. The Serialization progress rose to 1.5%. But it was worth it. Because now, he had a weapon to deal with the will of the ghost realm.

Chen Mo stood up. Outside the window, dawn was approaching. He needed to rest. Tomorrow, he would begin refining the emotional sequence potion.
