68: Chapter 68 List Hunt

The sound of the alarm echoed throughout the entire truck.

Chen Mo stood in the center of the top-floor room, listening to the footsteps coming from all directions—some people were running upstairs, some were rushing downstairs, and others were still hesitating where they stood. It was chaotic, but it wouldn't last long.

He opened the list.

The first page, the first name.

【 Wang Hai, Rank E, Ability: Stealth, Location: Bottom-level engine room 】

Wang Hai.

The person who stole the list during the Summit.

Old Zhou said he had been captured, but it seems that was a lie.

Chen Mo put the list away and walked toward the stairs.

The bottom level was even more chaotic.

Some of the traitors were packing supplies, some were arguing about whether to run, and others had already slipped into the escape tunnels. The lights flickered on and off, and there were shouts and footsteps everywhere.

Chen Mo walked downward, hugging the wall.

Within his Time Perception, everything within a fifty-meter radius was clearly visible—

Five people to the east were running toward the storage hold.

Three people to the west had already entered the escape tunnel.

One person to the south was crouching in a corner, shivering.

One person to the north was moving toward the engine room.

That was Wang Hai.

Chen Mo turned toward the north.

The door to the engine room was open, and the sound of roaring machinery came from inside. He walked in; the massive engines were running, causing the floor to tremble.

Wang Hai was crouching in a corner, stuffing things into a backpack.

He felt someone enter and whipped his head around.

The moment he saw Chen Mo, his face changed.

"You..."

Chen Mo didn't speak.

He simply raised his cleaver.

Wang Hai turned and ran.

But he couldn't get away.

Chen Mo activated Infiltrator and vanished from where he stood.

Seven seconds later, he appeared in front of Wang Hai.

He slashed down with his blade.

Wang Hai tried to dodge, but he was too slow.

The blade cut into his shoulder.

He let out a scream and collapsed to the ground.

Chen Mo walked over and stood before him.

"Did you steal the list?"

Wang Hai clutched his arm, his face deathly pale.

"Yes... yes..."

"Who made you steal it?"

"Zhang... Zhang Lie..."

Chen Mo looked into his eyes.

He was lying.

In his Pupil of the Sequence, the fluctuations of those golden lines were abnormal.

"Last chance," Chen Mo said.

Wang Hai's face turned even paler.

"It... it was the Transaction Master..."

Chen Mo nodded.

He raised his cleaver.

Wang Hai closed his eyes.

The blade fell.

【 Killed Rank E traitor × 1 】

【 Obtained: sequence fragment × 5 】

【 Current fragments: 575 】

Chen Mo turned and walked out of the engine room.

The next one.

There were forty-nine names left on the list.

It took him two hours.

He killed from the bottom level to the middle level, and from the middle level to the top.

Some of the traitors were fleeing, some were hiding, and some were resisting.

But not a single one could get away.

Time Perception left them with nowhere to hide.

Ten-second Prediction made their resistance meaningless.

Sequence Manipulation rendered all their abilities useless.

Two hours, forty-nine people.

All dead.

Chen Mo stood in that massive top-floor room, looking at the corpses covering the floor.

Those golden fragments were scattered everywhere, emitting a faint light under the lamps.

He opened the list.

The last page, the last name.

【 Chen Mo 】

His own name.

Chen Mo was stunned for a moment.

He looked closely at that line of text.

【 Chen Mo, Rank C (Actually Rank B), Abilities: Pupil of the Sequence, Prediction, Stealth, Time Perception, Rule Interference, Sequence Manipulation 】

【 Bounty Rank: S 】

【 Bounty Issuer: will of the ghost realm 】

【 Bounty Content: Whoever kills Chen Mo can be directly promoted to Observer 】

Chen Mo stared at that line.

Observer.

A lackey of the will of the ghost realm.

So he was worth this much.

He put the list away and turned to walk out of the room.

On the stairs, Lin Wei was running up.

Seeing him, she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Are you okay?"

Chen Mo shook his head.

"Let's go."

The two walked down the stairs and out of the truck.

Outside, it was almost dawn.

The tents were still there, but the people inside had all run away.

Only a few who were tied up remained—these were the low-level members who hadn't managed to escape in time.

Chen Mo walked over and stood in front of them.

"Do you know what this is?"

He pulled the list out of his pocket.

Those people looked at the list, their faces turning deathly pale.

"Th-this is..."

"Your names," Chen Mo said, "and the people you betrayed."

He threw the list onto the ground.

"See for yourselves."

Those people scrambled to look.

Then, their faces became even worse.

"Please... please..."

Chen Mo didn't speak.

He just turned and walked toward the pickup truck.

Lin Wei followed behind.

Behind them, the pleas of those people grew fainter and fainter.

Chen Mo got into the driver's seat and started the engine.

Lin Wei got into the passenger seat.

The pickup truck drove back the way they came.

In the rearview mirror, the massive truck grew smaller and smaller.

Noahs Ark.

The traitors' headquarters.

Now, it was just an empty vehicle.

Chen Mo gripped the steering wheel, looking at the road ahead.

There were still a few names on the list he hadn't found.

Maybe they ran away, maybe they were somewhere else.

But it didn't matter.

He would find them.

One by one.

All of them.
