121: Hell is empty, all the devils are here on earth!
The deeper they walked into the scrap metal pile, the more the simple smell of rotting garbage faded.
In its place was a thick, cloying stench of blood and musk.
The smell bored straight into their skulls, like dead pork that had been left in a sauna for three days mixed with a high concentration of male hormones; it clung to the nasal mucosa like slime that couldn't be scraped away.
Qin Yue followed behind Lu Sheng, her military boots making a 'squelch' sound as she stepped on the ground.
She looked down.
The standing water beneath her feet wasn't black, but a murky dark red, with unidentified white flocculent matter floating in it that looked like biological tissue.
"Major Lu..." Qin Yue's throat tightened, and her stomach cramped.
Lu Sheng didn't look back. The tip of the dragon devouring spear trailed on the ground, carving a trail of blinding sparks against the sheet metal as he walked.
"Don't look, don't ask."
His voice was soft, yet it carried a cold hardness that brooked no insolence.
Ahead, a massive palace crudely constructed from dozens of stacked shipping containers blocked their path.
The surrounding area had been cleared into an eerie open space. Several rusted steel pillars stood at the entrance; instead of flags, they were hung with sun-dried human leg bones.
There were even neat bite marks left on the bones.
That abnormally pure fluctuation of human spirit source was right behind those tightly closed iron doors.
It was too quiet.
So quiet it didn't seem like living people were inside, but rather a herd of livestock waiting to be fed.
"Ready?" Lu Sheng stopped walking.
Zhou Hai wiped the sweat from his shiny forehead and spat a mouthful of bloody saliva. "I've been holding it in for too long. I don't care if it's a man or a ghost, I'm going to punch his guts out and tie them in a knot!"
"Then open the door."
Lu Sheng raised his leg.
Without winding up or even using spirit source, he unleashed a burst of pure physical power.
Boom!
A dull thud echoed.
The two reinforced iron doors, weighing several tons, were struck as if by a direct hit from a cannonball. They instantly buckled inward and flew off their hinges, slamming hard against the inner walls and shaking down a cloud of rust.
Light forced its way through the doorway, tearing apart the darkness inside.
The second the scene inside became clear...
Zhou Hai, who had been blustering about going in to slaughter everyone, froze completely.
His trembling fat instantly tensed, his eyes widened until they nearly split, and a wheezing sound like a bellows came from his throat, but he couldn't utter a single coherent word.
The Shura Bloodblade in Su Li's hand hummed as the blade shuddered violently.
Even a female officer like Qin Yue, who had seen severed limbs on the front lines, suddenly covered her mouth. Her face turned as white as paper, and her body swayed as she nearly lost her footing.
This was no Coexistence Camp.
This was a breeding farm.
The massive space within the containers had been opened up. There was no furniture, only blackened aquatic weeds and filth covering the floor.
Hundreds of scantily clad human women were sprawled like livestock for slaughter, their limbs twisted, slumped on a floor covered in a mixture of excrement and urine.
Most of them had vacant expressions, staring hollowly at the ceiling. Their souls seemed to have died long ago, leaving behind only breathing husks.
The most skin-crawling part was their bellies.
Every single one of their abdomens was terrifyingly distended. The thin skin was stretched nearly translucent, blue veins bulging, as something inside writhed violently, occasionally pushing out a sharp protrusion.
Those were some kind of non-human creatures with extremely tenacious vitality, greedily absorbing nutrients from their hosts.
And on a pile of straw in the corner, several large male Sea Monkeys were mounted on a few women, engaged in the most primitive and barbaric of acts.
Hearing the commotion of the door exploding open, those Sea Monkeys stopped their movements and turned their heads.
On their ugly faces covered in toad-like skin, there was no fear; instead, they showed the displeasure of being interrupted.
"Squeak! Squeak!"
One of the largest Sea Monkeys even bared its yellow teeth at Lu Sheng and the others, thrusting its lower body provocatively. Its eyes were full of bravado and defiance.
It was as if it were saying: What are you looking at? This is my territory.
"This... this is..."
Zhou Hai's voice was shaking, his teeth grinding audibly.
"These beasts... what do they think people are?!"
Extreme rage caused blood to rush to his brain, turning his vision red.
Zhao Ze gripped his shield tightly, his nails digging into his flesh as blood dripped down through his fingers.
He was an honest man, but he had never seen a scene that trampled on the bottom line of humanity like this in his life.
Hell is empty, and the devils are among us.
No.
The devils are right before our eyes.
"Kill them all."
Lu Sheng stood at the door, backlit, his expression unreadable.
But the temperature of the air around him plummeted, and the standing water on the ground even formed a thin layer of ice.
In those golden vertical pupils, the original indifference had vanished, replaced by an extreme cold capable of freezing the soul.
He didn't need the corpses of these monsters as specimens anymore.
He just wanted them shattered.
Shattered into dust.
"Every green-skinned monster here."
"Male or female, large or small."
"Leave none alive."
"Kill them... all!"
"Ahhh!!!"
Qin Yue was the first to snap.
As a woman, the scene before her was like a slow execution of her nerves.
She let out a piercing scream as she instantly drew her Spirit Source Longbow to its limit, not even bothering to aim.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Spirit Source Arrows turned into a downpour, raining down on the writhing Sea Monkeys with a madwoman's hysteria.
"Die! Die! Die! All of you, die!!"
Su Li said nothing, her figure instantly blurring.
When she reappeared, she was already mounted on the neck of a Sea Monkey.
There was no technique to her Shura Bloodblade, just primitive hacking, as if she were mincing meat.
Squelch! Squelch! Squelch!
She was like a madwoman, stabbing the Sea Monkey's eye sockets, throat, and heart one stroke after another until she had reduced it to a pile of mush. Black blood splashed across her face, but she didn't even blink.
"Motherf*cker!! Die for me!!"
Zhou Hai transformed into a flame demon, his fists carrying the flames of vengeance as he charged into the monster crowd like a wild bull.
He didn't seek a quick kill; he wanted to torture them.
He grabbed a Sea Monkey by its hind leg and swung it like a sledgehammer against a steel pillar. The sound of shattering bones and the monster's screams became the only accompaniment to the moment.
"Squeak—!!"
The Sea Monkeys finally panicked. The strength they were so proud of was as fragile as paper before this group of maddened humans.
Lu Sheng didn't move.
He stood at the door, watching the purgatory-like slaughterhouse with eyes as cold as ice.
The trash on the periphery was something his teammates could handle while venting their rage.
His gaze pierced through the chaotic crowd, bypassed the shivering victims, and looked toward the deepest part of the palace.
There was a more hidden small door there.
The dozen or so auras belonging to human Spirit Source Users were right there.
Lu Sheng lifted the dragon devouring spear and stepped through the slime and blood on the floor, walking toward the depths step by step.
With every step he took, the killing intent on his body grew thicker.
Until finally, it was as if an invisible dragon were roaring behind him, causing the entire container structure to tremble.
Lu Sheng stopped before the small door, the tip of his spear slowly rising to point at the chain on the door.
