378: Chapter 378 Stellar-level Remains: To Eat or Not to Eat?

Lu Sheng hovered outside that massive spherical space, motionless. He stared intently at the stellar-sized remains inside for a full half-hour.

He was calculating in his mind.

Could he actually take a bite out of this thing?

The information returned by his Dragon Eyes just now clearly stated, "Danger Rank: Extremely Lethal." The System had even uncharacteristically issued a long string of red warnings, even using phrases like "strongly advised to stay away immediately."

What did this mean? It meant the Law Mark left on that corpse inside were still functioning automatically. Any living being below the Spirit Saint Realm that approached would be obliterated on the spot. Even though he now had one foot in the Spirit Saint Realm, if he forced himself to take a bite, there was a high probability he'd be consumed by a backlash until nothing remained.

The System told him to run.

Lu Sheng ran this suggestion through his mind and promptly ignored it like a passing fart.

Run? I've traveled all this way for over thirty days, gnawing on flavorless dry bones along the way, and now that I've finally come across such a top-tier feast, you want me to turn around and run?

He had never learned how to write the word "run" in his entire life. The timid starve, while the bold feast. The harder the bone, the more fragrant the marrow once cracked open.

He wasn't in a hurry to rush in. He knew this thing couldn't be eaten just by being reckless.

Lu Sheng found a relatively intact piece of battleship armor plating on the periphery of the spherical space and sat down cross-legged.

"Let's top off my status before getting to work."

With a flip of his hand, he grabbed a handful of High-Dimensional Origin Crystals from his storage space. These were stock scraped from the Scavenger Alliance headquarters. Without even looking, he stuffed them into his mouth, clamped his jaws shut, and crunched them into pieces.

The heaven swallowing furnace began to rotate within his Dantian, rapidly refining the energy from these crystals.

His spirit source reserves began to climb. Within his body, the five Law powers—Wind, Thunder, and Water mixed with Frost, Fire, and Space—were adjusted to their most stable states. That small gray Small World seed sat quietly in the center of his Dantian, pulsing rhythmically.

While chewing on the crystals, Lu Sheng squinted his eyes to observe the spherical space.

The surface of this spherical space wasn't solid; it was a layer of translucent membrane. Various chaotic lights and shadows flowed across the membrane. After watching for a while, he realized this membrane wasn't completely sealed.

In a few inconspicuous corners, there were several extremely fine cracks on the membrane.

From those cracks, a trace of extremely faint Origin aura would leak out from time to time. As soon as those auras drifted into outer space, they quickly dissipated.

Lu Sheng, having sharp eyes, directly activated the gravity of the heaven swallowing furnace, grabbing a few strands of the leaking aura from a distance and pulling them into his nose.

As soon as these few strands of aura entered his body...

Lu Sheng shuddered violently.

The feeling was too exaggerated. It wasn't the illusion of a full stomach from eating a meal; it was a shock that struck directly at his Soul.

Within these faint strands of aura that were about to dissipate, there was hidden a profoundly deep Law concept.

A light suddenly exploded in Lu Sheng's mind.

"Rules... they aren't rigid. Rules are alive. If you can set a rule, you can abolish it."

This thought came out of nowhere, but it took root directly in his mind.

"Truly freaking bizarre." Lu Sheng opened his eyes and took a sharp breath.

Just a tiny whiff of the leaking scent could elevate his understanding of rules by an entire level. If he could get inside and take a bite of the core Origin, that Small World seed would definitely sprout on the spot.

These remains—he was definitely eating them today.

He stood up, patted the dust off himself, and flew directly in front of the largest crack on the membrane.

He couldn't just rush in; he had to test the waters first.

Lu Sheng took a deep breath, extended his left hand, and cautiously poked a finger into the crack.

Just as his finger went in...

Buzz!

A golden Law light blade flew directly out from inside the membrane without a sound, heading straight for his finger.

The speed was absurdly fast; Lu Sheng's eyes couldn't keep up at all.

Fortunately, his body reacted faster than his brain. The black-gold Dragon scales on his left arm instantly bristled and thickened, while he instinctively activated his newly learned Space Law, trying to warp the trajectory of the light blade.

Crack!

The light blade forcibly sliced through the Space Law defense and grazed the back of his hand, shearing off a thick layer of Dragon scales and a large chunk of flesh.

Golden beads of blood immediately floated in the vacuum.

Lu Sheng yanked his hand back.

He looked down at the back of his hand. The wound was so deep that white bone was visible. The dragon runes lit up with a red light, and granulation tissue began to squirm and repair frantically.

"That's brutal." Lu Sheng grinned, shaking the blood off his hand.

Even with the dual defense of Dragon scales and Space Law, it couldn't be blocked. The lethality of this light blade was definitely at the Spirit Saint Realm Peak level.

Moreover, this was an automatic defense mechanism. As long as a living being entered, this thing would automatically lock on and attack.

Lu Sheng crouched outside the crack, staring intently inside.

He began to count silently.

After that light blade flew past, three seconds passed before another light blade formed near the crack, slicing across aimlessly.

Three seconds.

The interval for the light blade generation was three seconds.

For someone with his level of Physical Body and reaction speed, three seconds was enough to do many things.

"One every three seconds. I just need to time the gap between two light blades to rush in, and I can close some distance."

But Lu Sheng knew in his heart that this was only the outermost layer. The further in he went, closer to that corpse, the more light blades there would be, and the faster they would become. By then, let alone three seconds, there might not even be a 0.1-second gap.

"I can't worry about that much. If you want to eat meat, you have to take a beating."

Lu Sheng stood straight and mobilized all the power within his body.

Five Laws erupted simultaneously, wrapping five layers of defense around his body.

The outermost layer was the Eclipse Black Flame, burning so intensely that the surrounding Void Realm distorted. One layer in was the Space Law, ready to deflect attacks at any moment. Further in were the Wind and Thunder Laws, used to push his speed to the limit. Closest to his skin and flesh were the Frost and Water Laws, ready to stop bleeding and set bones at any time.

"Come on."

Lu Sheng slightly bent his legs, staring intently at the crack.

A golden light blade flew past.

"Go!"

The twelve dragon wings on Lu Sheng's back flapped violently, and he turned into a black-gold afterimage, squeezing directly through that crack.
