379: Chapter 379 Braving the Law Storm, Life Hangs by a Thread

Lu Sheng dove headfirst into the interior of the spherical space.

The moment he entered, he realized he had been rash. The situation inside was a completely different story from what he had seen from the outside.

From the outside, the spherical space looked empty, with only that star-sized corpse floating in the center.

But standing inside now, Lu Sheng's scalp went numb.

The entire space was densely packed with law threads. These threads were extremely thin, transparent, and intricately interwoven like a colossal spider web.

Lu Sheng had charged in too fast just now, directly stirring up a current of air.

Just that tiny bit of airflow touched three transparent threads ahead.

Buzz, buzz, buzz!

The three threads instantly materialized, turning into three golden Law light blades that sliced toward him from three incredibly tricky angles.

"Shit!"

Lu Sheng cursed, his body dropping abruptly, narrowly avoiding the two light blades aimed at his neck and waist. However, the third blade was too fast and flew right past his left shoulder, grazing it.

Puchi.

A large chunk of flesh covered in black-gold Dragon scales was sliced off. Golden blood sprayed out instantly.

"This damn thing is trigger-based! Touch a thread, get a blade!"

Lu Sheng quickly held his breath and forced himself to stop mid-air, not daring to move an inch.

He circulated his dragon runess to seal the wound on his shoulder, then widened his eyes, pushing his Dragon Eyes to maximum power.

Within the vision of his Dragon Eyes, those transparent threads finally had nowhere to hide.

Within a one-mile radius, at least tens of thousands of law threads were suspended. They followed no pattern, just pulled haphazardly across each other. Further away, the closer one got to that stellar remains, the more terrifying the density of the threads became, practically blurring into a solid wall.

"This isn't some defensive Formation at all; it's a fully automatic meat grinder."

Lu Sheng gritted his teeth, a layer of cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.

He couldn't retreat. Backing out would be easy, but trying to get back in would be difficult.

He could only steel himself and move forward.

Lu Sheng began to weave through the threads in an extremely awkward posture. He moved incredibly slowly; for every meter he flew forward, he had to use his Dragon Eyes to repeatedly confirm if there were any threads ahead.

It was like a Mortal walking a path of knives in the dark with their eyes closed.

In a full hour, he had only moved less than a hundred meters forward.

"No, this is too slow. At this rate, it'll take forever to reach that corpse."

Lu Sheng stopped in a slightly wider gap, his mind racing.

Looking at the dense threads ahead, he suddenly thought of the Space Law he had just barely begun to grasp.

"Walking through will definitely hit a thread. If I don't walk, can I fold space to jump over?"

Lu Sheng acted on his thought immediately. He mobilized the Space Law within his body and locked onto a gap about fifty meters ahead.

"Fold!"

The space before his eyes distorted violently.

It worked.

However, because the Space Law here was so chaotic, his amateur level could only maintain the spatial fold for less than half a second.

Half a second was enough.

Lu Sheng seized this extremely brief window. He vanished from his spot and reappeared fifty meters away in the next instant.

The moment he landed, the space behind him snapped back to its original state, triggering a powerful spatial tremor.

Puff, puff, puff, puff!

Along the route he had just bypassed, over a dozen law threads were triggered by the shockwave, instantly transforming into a storm of light blades that shredded that area to pieces.

Lu Sheng swallowed hard at the sight. "Good thing I moved fast."

He had found the trick.

Fold fifty meters, stop to catch his breath and recover his heavily depleted Space Law power, then find the right spot to fold the next fifty meters.

Though it was still slow, it was much better than crawling like a tortoise earlier.

Relying on this move, Lu Sheng approached the stellar remains bit by bit.

Two hundred meters.

Five hundred meters.

One thousand meters.

The further he went, the denser the threads became. The power of the light blades also grew stronger and stronger.

By the two-thousand-meter mark, Lu Sheng could no longer completely avoid all the light blades. Even with spatial folding, his landing point would always hit one or two threads.

He was now covered in blood. More than half of the dragon scales on his chest were shattered. During one spatial fold landing, a light blade had sliced off nearly half of his left arm. The white bone was exposed at the stump, and his dragon runess were desperately trying to grow new flesh, the pain making him hiss through his teeth.

It hurt like hell.

But Lu Sheng didn't even let out a groan.

Because the closer he got to the corpse, the thicker the scent of Origin became. That scent of Law, capable of inducing an Epiphany, hooked into his soul like a barb.

"Almost there. Just a bit longer."

Lu Sheng bit down on the bloody foam in his mouth.

Three thousand meters.

Lu Sheng was forced to stop.

There was no path left ahead of him.

The threads were so dense that not even a needle could be inserted. No matter how he folded space, his landing point would inevitably trigger hundreds or thousands of light blades.

"How do I handle this? Charging through will definitely turn me into mincemeat."

Lu Sheng leaned against an invisible Law barrier, panting heavily.

He stared at the "wall" of law threads before him, trapped in a dead end.

Retreat? Impossible.

Advance? He couldn't get through.

Looking at those threads, a phrase he had comprehended outside suddenly flashed through his mind.

"If one can set the rules, one can abolish the rules."

What were these threads? They were defensive rules set by that corpse when it was alive.

Since they were rules, since they were things manifested from the power of Law...

"Can I... just eat them?"

Lu Sheng was startled by his own crazy thought.

Eat high-level Laws? These things were sharper than knives; wasn't he afraid they'd shred his intestines to pieces if he ate them?

But he had the heaven swallowing furnace inside him. The rule of the heaven swallowing furnace was that as long as it was energy, as long as it was a Law, no matter how tough, it would be crushed into nourishment.

Lu Sheng licked his dry, cracked lips, his gaze becoming extremely fierce.

"I'll try it. At worst, I'll blow out a few Meridians."

He reached out with his half-regrown left hand and grabbed directly toward the thickest Law thread in front of him.

The moment his fingers touched the thread.

The thread instantly turned into a blinding light blade, slicing directly into his finger bones.

Agony!

Lu Sheng didn't pull back his hand. He gritted his teeth, and the heaven swallowing furnace inside him erupted.

An extremely overbearing, death-gray gravitational force surged out through his wound, biting down on the light blade.

The light blade struggled desperately, trying to slice off his entire arm.

"Get into my stomach!"

Lu Sheng roared, and the gravitational force surged.

The light blade was forcibly dragged into his Meridians.

Boom!

As soon as the light blade entered his body, it exploded within his Meridians. Lu Sheng's left arm instantly bulged with several large lumps, and blood vessels burst one after another.

But the fire of the heaven swallowing furnace immediately pounced on it, tightly wrapping the shattered Law fragments and beginning to refine them frantically.

Ten or so seconds later.

That violent Law power was crushed into a wisp of extremely pure insight, flowing directly into his Dantian and merging into that Small World seed.

The seed's light brightened just a tiny bit.

Looking at his mangled left hand, Lu Sheng suddenly burst into laughter.

"It's edible! It's actually fucking edible!"

Since it was edible, things were easy.

Lu Sheng looked up at the airtight wall of threads before him.

"Today, I'll show you what it means to eat a bloody path through."
