22: The secret of the Iceberg Goddess, the Golden Triangle of Shanghai

Zhou Hai said no more, turning and striding toward the stairwell entrance. His loud voice echoed throughout the corridor.

"Everyone, pack your things! Gather on the first floor in ten minutes!"

"We are setting off!"

After a brief silence, the interior of the Zijin Building erupted in thunderous cheers!

"Wuwuwu... We survived the Corpse Tide!"

"We're leaving! We are finally getting out of this damned place!"

"Long live Captain Zhou! Long live Brother Zhao! Goddess Su Li! Great God Lu Sheng!"

Countless survivors poured out of the blocked rooms, tears of relief streaming down their faces. Their gazes, fixed on the four figures at the stairwell entrance, were filled with fervent worship and reverence.

Lu Sheng stood behind Zhou Hai, listening to the crowd below frantically shouting his name. Even though he had witnessed scenes like this before, he couldn't help but feel a little awkward now.

The spectacle was just like the fan meetings of top celebrities on Earth in his previous life.

He even saw more women openly batting their eyes at him, their gazes bold and passionate.

I can understand young girls flirting with me, but you look exactly like Fu Shou'er and are at least thirty-eight years old. Who are you winking at?

Lu Sheng's mouth twitched. He felt like these women had gone slightly crazy.

After the cheering subsided, the crowd began to move in an orderly fashion under Zhou Hai's command.

Most people were already prepared, carrying their belongings and backpacks stuffed to the brim, gathering in the first-floor lobby.

However, there were also some whose makeshift rafts, originally built from wood planks and foam, had been shattered during last night's Corpse Tide. They were now standing in place, faces filled with despair.

A middle-aged man mustered his courage, walked up to Captain Zhou, and pleaded tearfully, "Captain Zhou, our boat... it's gone. Could... could you take us with you?"

Zhou Hai frowned.

Although the blazing flame fishing vessel was not small, besides the four of them, the deck was occupied by the diligent Core Crew Members, leaving no extra space to accommodate more people.

Just as those people turned pale, thinking they were about to be abandoned, Zhou Hai waved his hand and said in a deep voice, "What's the rush? There are so many desks, cabinets, and wooden beds in the building. Can't you tear them apart and build new ones? Everyone, lend them a hand!"

"Only by helping each other can everyone survive better in this apocalypse!"

"Yes!"

The crowd roared their assent, and the atmosphere was ignited once more.

No one complained. Everyone immediately sprang into action—some dismantling tables, others searching for ropes—with astonishing efficiency.

Zhao Ze walked up to Lu Sheng, a gentle smile on his face, and patted his shoulder.

"Come on, Xiao Lu, follow me. I have something to show you."

Lu Sheng nodded and followed Zhao Ze through the busy crowd toward the blazing flame, which was moored on the other side.

The two boarded the deck, and Zhao Ze led him straight below the cabin.

Walking through the narrow corridor that smelled of diesel and fish, Zhao Ze stopped in front of a brand-new door, took out a key, and unlocked it.

"Click."

The emergency light turned on.

Zhao Ze smiled and stepped aside: "Take a look. This is the room I cleaned up for you. From now on, this will be your home on the ship."

Lu Sheng stepped inside.

The room was indeed small, less than ten square meters, but though the sparrow is small, it has all the vital organs.

There was a neatly made single bed, a fixed metal cabinet against the wall, and even an old 14-inch small television strapped onto the cabinet.

Although simple, the sense of security provided by such a sealed, clean, and private space in this turbulent apocalypse was incomparable to anything else.

"How is it? Not bad, right?" Zhao Ze leaned against the doorframe, a hint of pride on his face.

"It's great, Brother Zhao," Lu Sheng said sincerely, a warm current flowing through his heart.

Compared to the inflatable kayak he had before, this accommodation was much better.

At least when resting at night, he no longer had to worry about being swept into the bottom of the sea by the waves.

"Haha, don't let this old TV fool you, kid, it still works," Zhao Ze said, pointing at the antique. "It can play discs. We all have one in our rooms. If you're bored, you can go find Ah Li. She has tons of treasures, discs of all kinds of movies, especially Anime Discs piled up like a small mountain."

Lu Sheng was stunned upon hearing this.

Good heavens, Su Li, that ice-cold Killing God, was secretly an anime otaku girl?

"Of course, watching TV requires electricity, which speeds up diesel consumption," Zhao Ze continued. "But you're a lucky kid. The two large barrels of diesel you brought back are enough to last us until our next stop."

"Next destination?" Lu Sheng looked up at Old Zhao and asked, "Where are we going?"

When this was mentioned, a mysterious smile appeared on Zhao Ze's face. He lowered his voice and leaned close to Lu Sheng's ear.

"A good place."

"The entirety of Modu is now submerged, but three buildings, due to their geographical location and structure, still stand firm; their lower halves haven't even been completely flooded."

"Led by the 632-meter-tall Shanghai Tower, along with the nearby Jinmao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center, which are both over four hundred meters tall, these three colossal skyscrapers form a triangular shape, creating a natural safe harbor."

A light of longing shone in Zhao Ze's eyes.

"That place gathers more than half of The Fleet of survivors in this sea area. It is currently the only large-scale trading hub and intelligence center in the Modu sea area!"

"We call it..."

"The Modu Golden Triangle!"
