32: Competition and bound feet

Falling City, Xiyang Live Streaming

Sun Zhenfeng, Chairman and CEO of Sunset, saw the news online and rushed to the company immediately, calling a meeting for all senior executives.

This newly established live streaming company was located in Falling City, and with such massive promotion before even going online, he couldn't afford to ignore it.

Sun Kai was also by his father's side; he had been at a bar developing a rapport with a new Female Anchor from the company.

He had been summoned by a call from his old man and still had no idea what was happening.

It was his first time seeing his father with such a heavy expression, and he felt quite uneasy.

He didn't dare to speak or even take out his phone to pass the time, sitting quietly and waiting for the others to arrive.

Before long, the company's Vice General Manager and directors from various departments arrived at the office.

Clearly, they all knew what was going on, as each of them had a solemn expression, sitting in their chairs and waiting for the boss to speak.

Seeing that everyone had arrived, Sun Zhenfeng said with a grave expression:

"This is a matter of life and death for the company. The opponent is coming on strong and is in the same city as us. Two tigers cannot share one mountain. What are your thoughts?"

All the senior executives had already discussed things before coming, which naturally included how to answer the boss's questions.

The Vice General Manager said:

"President Sun, I don't think there's anything to worry about. I've looked into it carefully; aside from Xiao Yi, the rest are all new Streamers."

The Technical Director also agreed:

"Exactly. In the live streaming industry, content is king. No matter how great the promotion is, without content, it's just a waste of money."

Hearing this, Sun Zhenfeng's expression softened considerably, and he decided to test them:

"You have a point. So, we don't need to do anything about them?"

The Operations Director shook his head and said:

"We don't need to act like we're facing a mortal enemy, but we must be on guard. The opponent is moving too fast, and we haven't found out their background yet.

All we know is that he's named Jiang Chuan and is very young. The internet says he founded the company for his girlfriend. If that's true, then we don't need to worry too much; it's just a second-generation rich kid playing around."

"What! His name is Jiang Chuan?"

Sun Kai was all too familiar with that name; he had even been dreaming about him lately.

Seeing his son so agitated, Sun Zhenfeng asked, "Xiao Kai, do you know this Jiang Chuan?"

Sun Kai nodded and said, "I definitely know him. He's also from Luocheng University, in the same year as me. But he's definitely not a second-generation rich kid. His family is very poor, and he worked part-time jobs all through university."

Hearing this, instead of being happy, everyone's expressions became even more solemn.

The Vice General Manager frowned and said, "Then what's on the internet isn't true. There's only one possibility left: capital or a large investment firm has entered the fray, wanting a piece of the live streaming pie."

Everyone nodded in agreement. This was the worst-case scenario. Their company was only second-tier and certainly couldn't withstand the pressure of such a large corporation.

Sun Zhenfeng clapped his hands and instructed:

"We can't jump to conclusions just yet. Even if he's sent by a big company, we won't go down without a fight. We'll split into two groups: one to uncover his background and the other to slow him down!"

Everyone felt this was the best course of action and left the meeting room to carry out their orders.

The once-bustling meeting room was now left with only the father and son.

Sun Zhenfeng sat at the head of the conference table, frowning as he pondered a solution.

Sun Kai sat in the secondary seat, clenching his fists tightly. His alcohol-numbed brain wasn't quite clear yet, but he had only one emotion at the moment.

He had to have his revenge!

---

Not just Xiyang Live Streaming, but even large live streaming companies like Deep Sea and Competition Creation were paying attention to Starlight. Their bosses sat in their offices, listening to reports from their subordinates.

Whether it was a large or small live streaming company, the bosses all issued the same order.

"Investigate this Jiang Chuan thoroughly and see what his background really is."

One family's joy is another's sorrow.

At this time, Starlight hadn't finished work yet, but the atmosphere wasn't oppressive; instead, everyone's faces were filled with excitement and thrill.

Only Shen Qingning stood alone in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the night view outside without a hint of happiness.

Jiang Chuan took a glance when the company hit number one on the trending searches and then stopped paying attention. This was just a warm-up; there was nothing to get excited about, the real show was yet to come.

He sat in the lounge area playing Chinese chess with Lin Jincheng. The two were evenly matched, and the battle was in full swing.

Jiang Chuan used his Chariot to capture the opponent's Pawn and said with a smile, "You have to take out the nearest ones first before you can advance step by step to the enemy's lair."

Lin Jincheng had never seen someone so shameless; his Chariot was already gone, yet he brought it back to use. He protested loudly!

Tang Ke was full of resentment, leaning against the bar counter. She curled her lip in disdain and muttered softly:

"Acting all calm and collected as if it's real. What a poser!"

Jiang Chuan successfully secured the victory. Ignoring the constantly shouting second brother, he called out loudly:

"Work's over! Everyone, go home and get some rest. If you didn't drive, take a taxi, and I'll reimburse you!"

"Thank you, President Jiang!"

"Long live President Jiang!"

Leaving work was the thing people were most enthusiastic about. Tang Ke stopped muttering, grabbed her bag, and ran out the door.

Lin Qingning had driven there, so she naturally didn't need Jiang Chuan to drop her off. She pulled her chatterbox of a brother and walked out of the company.

Jiang Chuan's commercial van could hold many people, so he didn't let it go to waste, taking the Streamers and Lin Shuyi home in one trip.

The most excited person in the company was this young girl; after all, her name was in both the first and second spots on the trending searches.

This was an honor that even A-list stars didn't have. She had completely blown up across the internet, becoming the girl everyone envied.

Jiang Chuan wasn't doing badly either; his popularity had successfully broken the 200,000 mark and was nearly reaching 250,000.

After dropping off all the Streamers, only Lin Shuyi and Jiang Chuan were left.

Xiao Yi was also a bit tired from talking and sat in her seat taking small sips of water.

Jiang Chuan closed his eyes and emptied his mind. Hearing her voice, he asked:

"So? I didn't let you lose out, did I?"

Xiao Yi patted his shoulder and said loyally, "Even if you did let me lose out, I would still help you!"

After saying it, she felt something was a bit off and changed the subject:

"The internet says that... um... you started the company for me. Is it true?"

Jiang Chuan nodded and said, "That is indeed true. If it weren't for you, I might not have started a live streaming company."

Xiao Yi's mouth puckered, and her eyes instantly turned red. She had never actually believed what the internet was saying.

She wasn't narcissistic enough for that, yet he had actually admitted it himself.

Lin Shuyi saw that he had his eyes closed and slowly leaned in close to his ear. Seeing that Uncle Li wasn't looking, she whispered:

"Then... are we going to be together?"

Jiang Chuan didn't open his eyes. He didn't agree, but he didn't refuse either, simply saying:

"Give me your feeties to play with for a while."

Lin Shuyi was stunned. She had thought of all kinds of possible replies, but this was one she never could have imagined.

"Per... Pervert! You big pervert!"

She sat back in her seat with a flushed face, but looking at his tired expression, she hesitated for a long time.

Finally, she slowly took off her small leather shoes and extended her little feet, clad in white lace socks.

Jiang Chuan was indeed very tired. He had been too busy lately, with too many things to consider.

He took her little feet and held them in his arms, rubbing them. They were soft, supple, and cool as jade, feeling very comfortable.

Lin Shuyi felt the heat from his large hands and felt a bit itchy; her cute toes curled up.

"Jiang Chuan... it tickles..."
