54: He was so angry he vomited blood.

Jiang Chuan waited until off-duty hours, walked out of his office, and happened to see Shen Qingning locking her door.

"Sister Ning, want to go to the hospital with me to visit Starlight's number one contributor?"

Shen Qingning frowned as she finished locking the door and asked in confusion:

"Number one contributor? Who's sick? Xiao Ke? Or Xiao Yi?"

"Little Sun!"

Shen Qingning: ... Jiang Chuan bought a bouquet of white flowers and some fruits like lychees, mangoes, and durians that cause internal heat if eaten in excess, then drove to the First Hospital.

"Xiao Chuan, is this matter finally over?"

Shen Qingning rubbed the space between her eyebrows tiredly and asked as if casually.

Jiang Chuan smiled and shook his head, saying:

"The chairman of Silver Star wants to have dinner with me tomorrow. I expect Old Sun will be there too. I don't know if it's a Hongmen Banquet."

"Then I'll go with you."

Shen Qingning pushed her internal thoughts aside, prioritized work, and said seriously.

"Sure, but it'll probably be quite boring. Go if you want to, but don't worry about it if you don't."

"Okay."

Jiang Chuan parked the car, and the two of them walked into the hospital carrying the items.

After finding out Old Sun's ward number from the nurse at the front desk and thanking her, they took the elevator to the inpatient department.

There was no one guarding outside, and he didn't bother pretending to be polite by knocking; he just pushed the door open and walked in.

Only Sun Kai and Sun Zhenfeng were in the ward, eating dinner. The meal was quite good, with a mix of meat and vegetables, and they were even having chicken soup.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, they looked up toward the entrance.

When the father and son saw who it was, they looked as if they had seen a ghost and pointed at him in shock.

"You... you..."

Jiang Chuan greeted them politely:

"Hello, President Sun. I'm Jiang Chuan. And Sun Kai, long time no see. I heard President Sun was ill, so I brought some gifts to visit you."

If looks could kill, the fire in Sun Kai's eyes would have burned him to death by now, but unfortunately, they couldn't.

Sun Zhenfeng was, after all, someone who had weathered many storms. He immediately adjusted his mindset, coughed twice, and said coldly:

"President Jiang, I appreciate the sentiment, but there's no need for gifts. I am unwell, so I won't keep you any longer."

"Oh, President Sun, what are you saying? This chicken soup looks quite good. Let me taste it for you; I haven't had dinner yet."

Jiang Chuan placed the gifts on the table and, without acting like a stranger at all, picked up some disposable cups, poured two servings, and gave one to Sister Ning behind him.

Sun Zhenfeng had never seen such a shameless person in his life. His face turned as dark as coal as he said:

"If President Jiang and President Shen have something to say, then say it. If not, you can leave. You are not welcome here!"

"Oh! You even know Sister Ning?"

Sun Zhenfeng snorted coldly, "Hmph, Starlight's Vice General Manager, how could I not know her?"

"Alright then, since President Sun doesn't welcome us, I'll just say one thing and leave."

Seeing that the other man didn't respond, Jiang Chuan wasn't embarrassed and continued on his own:

"I'm here to thank you. Starlight's ability to develop to its current scale is all thanks to you sending both money and people. There aren't many good people left in this world, and you are definitely among the best I've ever met."

Hearing the other's mockery, Sun Zhenfeng trembled with rage. He stared intently at him and said through gritted teeth:

"Jiang Chuan! Don't push things too far. It's not certain yet who will have the last laugh!"

"Sigh, biting the hand that feeds you. I bought you some lychees, eat more of them. Well, I'm off. Get well soon, President Sun. I'll come see you another day."

Jiang Chuan took Sister Ning's hand, waved, and walked out of the ward.

Once the two left the room, Sun Zhenfeng picked up the fruit, hurled it onto the floor, and roared:

"That brat has gone too far! Too far!"

Jiang Chuan suddenly pulled the door open again, poking only his head in. Looking at Old Sun throwing things, he smiled and congratulated him:

"Oh right, President Sun, congratulations on making it onto the trending searches. You're even ranked second! I'm so envious."

After saying that, he waved and left the hospital for good.

Sun Zhenfeng's arm froze in mid-air, the lychees crushed in his hand. He was so enraged that he spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed heavily onto the bed.

"Doctor! Doctor!"

Jiang Chuan held Sister Ning's small hand and watched the doctors rushing past, saying in confusion:

"What's going on? Old Sun was just full of life, playing Fruit Ninja on his bed. Why the sudden call for a doctor?"

Shen Qingning looked down at her hand being held, rolled her eyes at his words, and complained inwardly:

"This is the first time I've seen someone able to infuriate someone to this extent."

The two didn't go back; they found a Chinese restaurant outside and had a simple dinner.

While eating, Shen Qingning asked casually, "Did you go to the hospital today just to anger him?"

"When did I ever anger him? I was visiting a senior!"

Jiang Chuan stopped his chopsticks, looked up, and said righteously.

"Fine, fine, visiting him."

Hearing this, he continued picking up food and instructed:

"I was checking his attitude toward me to distinguish whether he's a friend or a foe, just to prepare in advance."

"Then with that attitude, he's a foe?"

Jiang Chuan shook his head and said:

"Hard to say. A biting dog doesn't bark. Old Sun is getting on in years and doesn't actually have that much ambition. I feel like there's something off about Chen Xu."

Shen Qingning was learning seriously, trying to think through the problem using his logic, but she still couldn't figure it out, so she had to ask:

"What kind of problem?"

"I've seen his profile. He comes from a poor background."

She was even more bewildered, not understanding what that sentence meant or what his background had to do with any of this. She asked in confusion:

"Huh? Does that have any connection?"

Jiang Chuan picked up a piece of chicken, brought it to her lips, and said softly, "Ah!"

Shen Qingning shook her head, refusing the feeding, her large, puzzled eyes staring at him.

Jiang Chuan ate the chicken himself and said indistinctly:

"It's just like this. Chen Xu has very strong self-esteem and won't accept being fed by others. I suspect he wants to take this opportunity to break away from Competitive Creation. He's quite a character."

Hearing this, a thread connected all the doubts in Shen Qingning's mind.

Silver Star wanted to snatch food from the tiger's mouth, using Competitive Creation to step into the first-tier ranks, and then using Starlight to kick Competitive Creation away.

Competitive Creation doesn't need a toothless hyena. Silver Star is no longer useful, so naturally, they wouldn't keep the shares. Cashing out and leaving is the standard operation.

Thinking it through, Chen Xu spent funds to increase the company's popularity and attract an audience.

He pushed Sunset to the forefront while he himself didn't suffer much negative impact, and afterward, he wouldn't even lose his shares.

Using someone else's prestige to bolster his own, he easily stepped into the first-tier ranks, and the amount of financing he could raise would also increase significantly.

Shen Qingning felt a chill run down her spine. These people's schemes were far too deep, thinking three steps ahead for every one taken. They were incredibly bold, as a single misstep would mean falling into a bottomless abyss.

She looked up at Jiang Chuan, who was devouring his food—the man who had played the whole field and the one who would have the last laugh.

She realized just how terrifying his strength was. Chen Xu was already struggling to deal with one industry giant, but this guy was dealing with two at once and even doing so with ease.

At this moment, she had a goal. She wanted to become someone like him—someone whose plans never failed and who could see through others' intentions at a glance.

Like a God playing with everyone in the palm of his hand.

Jiang Chuan was shoveling food into his mouth when he felt Sister Ning's gaze was strange. He looked back at her admiring eyes in confusion.

He was a bit bewildered, not knowing what strange things she was imagining again.
