58: Poor old Sun

Sun Kai bowed deeply before continuing:

"Since all the seniors are here to secure investments, this banquet has added a temporary activity.

That is, each company representative will introduce their own company. I also congratulate everyone on potentially reaching cooperation. Now, the activity officially begins!"

"The first company is Xiyang Live Streaming, which has reached 500,000 concurrent viewers! Welcome Sun Zhenfeng, President Sun!"

Sun Zhenfeng walked onto the stage amidst applause and bowed deeply. The large screen behind him displayed Xiyang's data, including concurrent viewers, revenue, and more.

Silver Star had promised to fully support Xiyang in securing investment. As long as Jiang Chuan didn't stand up to cause trouble, no other live streaming company present could compare to Xiyang.

Standing on the stage, he picked up the microphone and confidently introduced:

"As everyone can see, Xiyang's concurrent viewers have stabilized at 500,000, with even a slight recent increase. With investment, it will..."

"That's a lie. Xiyang's backend data currently shows at most a little over 300,000. Isn't this data from before?"

Sun Zhenfeng looked in shock at the person who interrupted him. If it had been Jiang Chuan standing up to interrupt, he could understand—after all, the two had a deep-seated grudge, and the other didn't want Xiyang to get investment.

But the one who interrupted was actually Wang Guichen!

After all, it was Wang Guichen who proposed this idea and wanted to help Xiyang secure investment.

Yet at the most critical moment, just as he picked up the microphone to introduce, his best ally was undermining him from below!

Now wasn't the time to dwell on why an ally had betrayed him. Sun Zhenfeng suppressed his thoughts, the microphone already damp with sweat from his hands, and forced himself to speak calmly:

"President Wang is as fond of joking as ever. Everyone can look at Xiyang's revenue this month—it's as high as five million! If you invest in Xiyang, you'll definitely..."

"That part is true, but it was achieved by throwing in tens of millions."

Sun Zhenfeng couldn't hold back any longer. This wasn't just causing trouble; it was trying to kill Xiyang. Looking at the two sitting below, he roared:

"Wang Guichen! Chen Xu! What exactly do you want to do?"

Wang Guichen leaned back leisurely in his chair, not angered by the words, and said with a smile:

"Old Sun, President Lu is still here. Let's talk about the real situation."

Chen Xu sat in his chair with a dark expression, neither stopping nor expressing an opinion. Since he couldn't prevent it, he might as well play dead. Maybe Old Sun wouldn't hate him so much.

"I'll f*** you! How can anyone invest if we talk about the real situation?"

Sun Zhenfeng realized there was no chance of securing funding today. Looking at Chen Xu sitting below, pretending nothing was wrong, he walked off the stage with a grim face, cursing loudly in his heart.

Now, the person he hated most had shifted from Jiang Chuan to Chen Xu and the other.

He had booked the hotel and paid the expenses, but when it was time to reap the rewards, his allies took a shit-stirring stick and knocked it all away!

If it weren't for the inappropriate setting, he would definitely pull out the rest of Chen Xu's hair.

Jiang Chuan and Shen Qingning sat in a corner eating fruit, watching the play they had personally rehearsed with great interest.

They just found Old Sun's expression quite amusing—anger mixed with a hint of grievance and confusion, probably still racking his brains over why this was happening.

The companies that took the stage afterward went smoothly. Although there were some intentional troublemakers, none were as extreme as Silver Star, pushing someone to the brink.

Sun Zhenfeng sat next to President Lu, not listening to the speeches on stage, still trying to hold onto a last shred of hope. But Wang Guichen was like a haunting ghost, dismantling everything he said.

He simply gave up, now deeply regretting scheduling Silver Star's speech too late. He couldn't wait to get revenge!

"When you take the stage, if you manage to secure funding, I won't be surnamed Sun!"

All the live streaming companies attending the banquet had come prepared. Several investment companies expressed preliminary investment intentions on the spot.

The atmosphere grew even more heated. CEOs who usually commanded respect in their companies had now turned into bottom-tier salespeople, standing on stage spitting saliva as they tried to pitch their companies.

But Lu Tianyu, sitting at the center, never showed favoritism toward any company. He just watched quietly, not saying a word.

Everyone guessed he was waiting for Silver Star. After all, Xiyang had already been on stage, and only Silver Star still had the qualifications to pique this big shot's interest.

Finally, on stage, Sun Kai, who was still struggling to host, announced the name everyone had been eagerly awaiting.

"Let's welcome Silver Star Company, Chen Xu, President Chen!"

Everyone looked at Chen Xu sitting in the front row. No matter what they thought in their hearts, their expressions were all happy and welcoming. After all, he had Competitive Creation backing him, so they had to give him some face.

Chen Xu stood up, picked up the microphone on the table, and said slowly, "Silver Star does not plan to participate in financing."

"What does Chen Xu mean? How will he keep going without financing?"

"I guess he's completely sided with Competitive Creation."

"Then President Lu came for nothing?"

"What a pity. President Chen is still too conservative."

Chen Xu turned a deaf ear and directly sat back in his chair. If it weren't for Wang Guichen refusing to leave no matter what, he would have left this lousy banquet long ago.

The most important thing now was finding a way out. Who would have thought that Jiang Chuan, this kid who hadn't even grown all his hair, had such sharp insight? The plan they had prepared for so long was discovered so quickly.

Now it was truly easier to invite a god than to send one away. Wang Guichen didn't want to leave Falling City at all now. If they sought financing again, the company might no longer be surnamed Chen.

Wang Guichen sat in his chair, coldly watching Chen Xu beside him. He hadn't expected this kid to be so disobedient.

"Looks like I need to find an opportunity to discipline him."

He had suffered such a big loss at Starlight; slinking back to the company would be too embarrassing. Originally, if Jiang Chuan hadn't said those things, it wouldn't have mattered—losing was losing, and if you can't win, just retire.

But Jiang Chuan's words changed his mind. Since he couldn't beat Starlight, devouring Xiyang, which was backed by Deep Sea, might not only avoid blame but even earn merit!

With the two of them teaming up, he didn't believe Sun Zhenfeng could hold out. The more he thought about it, the more feasible it seemed. He was just an employee; as long as he got the credit, what did it matter if Chen Xu suffered?

He sat up slightly, waiting for the speech on stage to finish before leaving the banquet to prepare a plan to deal with Xiyang.

Not just him—everyone thought it was over, like people just after a meeting, eager to get up and leave.

Standing on stage, Sun Kai looked at the list in his hand, unsure whether to read it out. He didn't know what madness had struck his father.

He insisted on having that kid take the stage too. Originally, it didn't matter—as long as Xiyang got investment, they'd naturally have the capital to compete.

Who knew plans couldn't keep up with changes? The confident financing plan ended before it even began.

He wasn't planning to read this name. The grudge between the two was irreconcilable. But seeing his father nod slightly, he had no choice. Picking up the microphone, he said:

"Next, there's one more company. Welcome Jiang Chuan, President Jiang."
