68: Xiao Jing who plays with fire
After a round of gnashing teeth and friendly farewells, Jiang Chuan and the others finally concluded this gluttonous feast.
The viewers in the livestream were practically twitching. They had been looking forward to seeing President Jiang play games with Xiao Yi, but by the end, they were praying for it to finish. It was absolute torture.
They wished they could jump in and take over the controls themselves; their faces were flushed with frustration, and their blood pressure was through the roof.
Jiang Chuan stood up, stretched, and walked out of the livestream room with his phone. Tan Jing was already up and making lunch in the kitchen, humming a song while wearing an apron—the perfect image of a little chef.
He walked up behind her, wrapped his arms around her slender waist, and rested his head on her shoulder as he watched her cook.
“Boyfriend, stop messing around! Go wash your hands and get ready to eat!”
Jiang Chuan had never been an obedient child. Now that Tan Jing had unlocked a new 'skin,' how could he not give it a try?
“Wait... wait, I still have soup simmering in the pot!”
“It’s fine, you keep cooking, I'll just lend you a hand.”
“Bah! How can I possibly keep cooking! Be gentler~”
...The two of them didn't finally sit down to eat this lunch until one o'clock. It consisted of oysters, chive and egg stir-fry, turtle soup, and more.
Looking at the table full of medicinal cuisine, Jiang Chuan didn't know where to start. He coughed twice and said, “Actually... I don't really need all this yet, do I?”
“Better safe than sorry! Here, try it and see if it tastes good!”
Tan Jing ladled a bowl of soup and placed it in front of him, her bright eyes looking at him expectantly.
Having no choice, he picked up the bowl and took a sip. Surprisingly, it tasted quite good. He gave her a thumbs up and praised, “It’s delicious. You should try some too. Don't go learning random things online anymore; I really don't need these.”
“Okay, okay, okay~”
The two of them put in quite an effort to finish off the entire table of food.
After Jiang Chuan finished the last sip of soup, he rubbed his nose. He felt a fire burning inside him and felt like his nose might bleed at any moment; he must have overdone it with the supplements.
Tan Jing didn't feel much after eating. She washed the dishes and put them in the disinfection cabinet. Her livestream was scheduled for the evening, so she wasn't in a rush.
Returning to the bedroom, she changed into a white yoga outfit, took her yoga mat to the living room, spread it on the floor, turned on the TV, and started following the instructor's yoga routine.
Jiang Chuan sat on a dining chair watching Little Jing run back and forth. When he saw her in that outfit, his nosebleed was practically ready to erupt.
Seeing Little Jing perform various movements as if she were boneless, he stood up and joined her yoga session.
Single-leg Wheel Pose, hanging sails, Koundinyasana, Splits, and so on, accompanied by various sounds.
Jiang Chuan watched the instructor's teaching seriously and felt that yoga was simply wonderful beyond words; the person who invented yoga was a genius.
Unbeknownst to them, the phone on the dining table had been ringing for a very, very long time... an unknown amount of time passed.
Tan Jing lay weakly on the sofa. Looking at her still-energetic Boyfriend, she secretly vowed never to believe what people said online again—it was practically lethal!
Jiang Chuan felt refreshed. The fire in his heart had finally dissipated. He picked up the yoga mat—which was probably, maybe, perhaps soaked with sweat—like a giant pendulum.
“Little Jing, how about we just throw this away and buy a new one?”
“Mhm~”
After tidying up the scattered items on the floor, he carried the weakened Little Jing to the bed in the bedroom.
That medicinal meal was indeed ridiculously strong; even yesterday, Little Jing hadn't been like this.
He went back to the dining table, picked up his phone, and saw over ten missed call records from an unsaved number.
Jiang Chuan sat down in the living room and called back. It was answered instantly. As soon as he brought it to his ear, he could faintly hear roaring from the other side, so he moved the phone away.
Five minutes later, feeling that the voice on the phone had died down, he placed it to his ear and said, “Hello, who is this?”
Sun Zhenfeng nearly spat out a mouthful of blood. He had been talking for five whole minutes; did the other party not hear a single word? Had he been fighting a battle of wits with thin air?
As expected, Jiang Chuan was still the same Jiang Chuan. As long as it involved him, he was guaranteed to annoy someone half to death.
“It's Sun Zhenfeng. You win!”
“Congratulations to us both! What can I do for you, President Sun?”
Sun Zhenfeng suppressed the urge to hang up. He had clearly adjusted his mindset, but hearing the other party's voice filled him with rage. He took a deep breath and continued:
“I lost. I hope you won't drive me to total ruin. You'll definitely keep the Streamers, and I beg you to take the company employees into Starlight as well.”
“I told you President Sun was about to retire. Congratulations! By the way, why choose me?”
“President Jiang, I have no personal grudge against you. That dog Chen Xu stabbed me in the back at the critical moment. It should be an easy choice, right?”
Jiang Chuan didn't believe a word this old fox said. It was simply that Silver Star couldn't provide enough capital, and selling to big companies like Deep Sea would definitely result in a massive price cut.
After weighing it all up, only his old rival Starlight was the most suitable—rich, nearby, and ambitious.
“President Sun, name a price.”
“Ninety million! This price is...”
“Beep— Beep— Beep—”
Sun Zhenfeng: ???
No, who negotiates business like this? If you're not satisfied, just say so. Why act like a monkey, turning your back the moment a single word doesn't fit!
He tried calling back, but it was hung up immediately. Looking at the phone in his hand, he said through gritted teeth, “What a sin!”
Sun Kai sat beside his father, not daring to say a word. That Weibo post this morning had been fatal. He was trying his best to think of a way, but if his father had no solution, what could he do?
Jiang Chuan hung up the phone decisively. After a while, seeing that the other party didn't call again, he sent a message over:
[Jiang Chuan: President Sun, you'd better think of a proper price before contacting me again. I'm not as idle as you; my every minute is worth millions. I don't have time to haggle with you.]
[Sun Zhenfeng: How about seventy million? You're definitely making a profit at this price! Sunset has five hundred thousand concurrent users and over a hundred thousand Streamers.]
Jiang Chuan didn't reply and tossed the phone aside. He wasn't the one in a rush. Old Sun had no choice but him now, so he definitely had to suppress the price to the minimum.
Although Sunset didn't have five hundred thousand concurrent users, it did have over three hundred thousand. However, this number couldn't be calculated by simple addition; otherwise, wouldn't they be comparable to Deep Sea if combined?
This wasn't like the future; the market hadn't expanded yet. Those who liked watching livestreams were just that specific group of people, and 'big brothers' with money to give gifts were even rarer.
A large portion of those three hundred thousand people must overlap with Starlight, not to mention viewers who wouldn't adapt to the new platform.
In the end, the probability of Starlight gaining a hundred thousand new users was like winning the lottery. Out of that hundred thousand, it would be lucky if two thousand had spending power.
But as long as the price was right, Jiang Chuan would definitely agree. Besides the traffic, it would add several top Streamers and a large group of experienced technical staff.
The high-level management of Sunset might not be obedient, but the low-level employees didn't care who the boss was. Whoever paid the salary was the boss.
In a few more years, a company of Sunset's scale definitely couldn't be acquired for just tens of millions.
