72: Sun Zhenfeng's changes
Feng Qiqi: ???
"I might not be human, but you're a real dog!"
She dug at her ear, wondering if she was hallucinating. That was definitely not a sound a human should make!
Seeing her dumbfounded expression, Jiang Chuan said helplessly, "There's only one cot in there. How are we supposed to sleep? The best way is for us to go home and rest, then come back tomorrow to swap with the other person."
"Then can't we just share one bed?"
"Goodbye to you too!"
Feng Qiqi stopped teasing him and said seriously:
"You should just go back. You don't need to come tomorrow either. I'm just an employee, so it doesn't matter if I take time off. You have such a big company to run, so go focus on your work. Leave things here to me!"
Jiang Chuan also had a bit of a headache. He bore a lot of responsibility for what happened to Zhang Linlin, so he couldn't just leave her be, but the company also had a lot going on.
The best way would be to find someone to help. If he called a girl over, they'd likely just get in the way or even start a fight, and it was even more impossible to find a man.
If Little Green Tea hadn't been injured, he would have left long ago and would be asleep holding Xiao Jing by now.
Jiang Chuan wasn't the indecisive type. He directly scooped Little Green Tea up in his arms and headed for the elevator to go downstairs.
"Oh! I'm really fine! Hehehe! You actually care about me quite a bit~"
Ignoring the woman's split personality, he put her in the car and gave Uncle Li some instructions before closing the door, waving, and returning to the hospital.
Feng Qiqi watched his dashing figure, her gaze so thick with affection it was almost palpable. She was truly liking this man more and more, and she secretly cheered herself on in her heart:
"I'll win you over sooner or later!"
Uncle Li looked at the beautiful girl in the back seat and sighed inwardly. "Miss Lin, President Jiang is already surrounded. You need to make your move quickly! yi-ma-ping-chuan cannot fall!"
Meanwhile, on the other side...
Sun Zhenfeng was sitting on the sofa smoking, the ashtray on the coffee table already full. Sitting opposite him was a flamboyantly dressed woman—his ex-wife, whom he had divorced many years ago.
The woman held a tissue, crying and shouting incessantly, "Sun Zhenfeng! Say something! If anything happens to Xiao Kai, I'll fight you to the death!"
Sun Zhenfeng had just received a call. Sun Kai had beaten a girl in a bar, and she was currently in the operating room being rescued.
He was just about to go see what the situation was when his ex-wife, Sun Kai's biological mother, blocked the door, talking useless nonsense.
With no other choice, he had to try and calm her down first. He comforted her for a long time to little effect, and his heart grew increasingly irritable.
Sun Zhenfeng crushed his cigarette butt in the ashtray, stood up, and said, "I get it. I'm going to go see him."
"I'm going too! Xiao Kai must have been framed by bad people! He's so well-behaved, how could he possibly do something like that?"
"Then you go, and I won't. Which do you choose?"
After saying that, he walked straight out of the smoke-filled room, ignoring the shrew-like shouting behind him. He put on his shoes in the entryway, opened the door, and walked out.
Standing in the elevator, he looked at his reflection. His once high-spirited face was now extremely haggard, and his straight back had unknowingly slouched a few degrees.
But he was a man and a father. Even if the sky had collapsed, he had to leave a space for his family to survive.
Getting into his car, he called the lawyer the company worked with while driving straight toward the police station.
When he arrived, he didn't rush in. He waited until the lawyer drove up and parked next to him before quickly going to meet him.
"Lawyer Liu, I'll leave my son's matter in your hands."
The lawyer quickly reached out with both hands to shake his, nodding seriously. "Don't worry, President Sun. We've been friends for so many years; there's no need for such formalities. Let's go in and see what the situation is first."
Sun Zhenfeng didn't continue the pleasantries. He handed over the paperwork to the duty officer and, without any issues, successfully saw the detained Sun Kai.
Sun Zhenfeng nodded to the lawyer. He didn't lose his temper at his son, but sat on a chair outside, patiently waiting for the two sides to negotiate.
Before long, the lawyer came out and whispered in his ear, "The person who was beaten is a girl named Zhang Linlin. Do you know her?"
Hearing the name, Sun Zhenfeng instantly remembered Jiang Chuan calling that evening to ask about the girl's family. He could no longer suppress his emotions.
He walked into the room, looked at Sun Kai sitting in the chair, and questioned in a low voice, "What is the relationship between Zhang Linlin and Jiang Chuan?"
Sun Kai was already terrified. Seeing someone familiar, his mental state completely collapsed. He cried out, "Dad! Save me! I don't want to go to jail! Dad!"
"I'm asking you! What is the relationship between Zhang Linlin and Jiang Chuan!"
Sun Kai was startled by his father's shout. After a moment of daze, he stammered, "Zhang... Zhang Linlin is Jiang Chuan's ex-girlfriend. I stole her away from him."
Upon hearing this, Sun Zhenfeng's blood pressure spiked. He had to lean against the wall to keep from falling over.
Seeing this, the lawyer quickly went over to support his boss and helped him sit down in a chair.
Sun Zhenfeng took out his medicine and swallowed two pills. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Once the dizziness passed, he stood up, took the duty officer's hand, and bowed sincerely in thanks.
"Thank you, comrade. Sorry to disturb your rest. We understand the situation now, so we'll be going. Sorry for the trouble."
After speaking, he backed out of the room, gently closed the door, and led the lawyer out of the police station. It wasn't until they were in the car that he asked, "Is it manageable?"
"It's not easy. The evidence is very substantial—surveillance and witnesses are all very clear."
Sun Zhenfeng rubbed his brow tiredly and asked politely, "Lawyer Liu, what do you think we should do next?"
The lawyer pushed up his glasses and said logically, "The case is very simple. Your son committed intentional injury. I just asked a friend at the hospital; the surgery was successful, and the patient has been moved to a ward."
Seeing the other man visibly sigh in relief, he continued to reassure him, "Based on my experience, it likely won't reach the level of a first-degree minor injury. As long as the other party agrees to forgive your son, it won't be too serious."
Sun Zhenfeng knew very well that the most important thing was the other party's forgiveness. That was why he had reacted so strongly upon hearing about the relationship between Jiang Chuan and Zhang Linlin.
Based on his understanding of Jiang Chuan, this matter would be very difficult to handle. The acquisition plan they were discussing might also be affected.
"I understand. Thank you, Lawyer Liu. Sorry to trouble you to come out so late."
"You're welcome, President Sun. Contact me anytime if you need anything. I'll be going now."
Sun Zhenfeng politely saw him to his car door. Watching the vehicle drive away, he took out his phone and dialed Jiang Chuan's number.
"The number you have dialed is currently busy. Please try again later."
There wasn't even the sound of a ring. He had clearly been blacklisted. He checked the time; it was almost midnight.
"I'll go tomorrow then."
He sighed and sat back in his car. Choosing not to go home, he found a random hotel to stay in.
