27: Chapter 27 Bai Qi, out there to work

Wang Kun, in his incarnation as the Eight-Armed Corpse Demon, braved the sky full of flying Nether Rays and exploding Yin Fiend Bolts. Like a vengeful malevolent spirit crawling out of hell, he forced his way to a spot less than a hundred meters from the Fortress's outer wall! The massive earth and stone "shield" he raised was already riddled with holes under the concentrated fire, and his own greenish-black skin and bone armor were covered in scorch marks and punctures, oozing disgusting pus and blood. Yet, his will for madness and destruction burned even more fiercely!

"Lin Chen! Die!!!"

He let out a final roar. His eight hideous arms tensed simultaneously, muscles bulging, and his bone armor ground together with a tooth-aching screech. He condensed all his Bizarre Monster energy, preparing to launch a world-shaking strike that would shatter the seemingly impregnable wall and Lin Chen behind it into pieces!

For an existence in his form, a hundred-meter distance was but a fleeting instant!

The guards on the city wall could even clearly smell the oncoming stench, a mixture of rot and sulfur! Despair gripped their hearts once more!

Zhang Hao let out a wild roar, swinging his Ghost-Headed Earth-Splitting Axe, ready to jump down and fight for his life. Even if he died, he would take a bite out of this monster's flesh!

Su Qingyu's face turned pale, and she instinctively looked toward Lin Chen.

However, facing this imminent destructive impact that seemed poised to swallow him whole in the next second, not a trace of panic could be found on Lin Chen's face.

He even had the time to straighten his collar, which wasn't even messy.

Then, under the gaze of everyone—including the madly charging Wang Kun—he slightly raised his right hand. Between his index and middle fingers, at some unknown point, he had pinched a unique talisman.

That talisman was not made of yellow paper and cinnabar. Instead, its entire body displayed a dull metallic luster, as if forged from some ancient dark iron. On it, a simple yet murderous character for "General" was outlined in an even deeper dark red, resembling dried blood!

Just looking at that talisman made one feel as if they heard the clashing of weapons and neighing of armored horses, and smelled the metallic wind of a sea of blood and mountains of corpses!

[Ghost General Summoning Talisman: Killing God Bai Qi]!

"So noisy."

Lin Chen looked at the talisman as if evaluating a somewhat unsatisfactory tool, his tone carrying a hint of annoyance at being disturbed.

Then, he casually tossed the talisman forward.

The dark iron-colored talisman did not burn; instead, the moment it left his hand, it merged directly into the void ahead!

Buzz—!

The whole world suddenly darkened!

It wasn't that the light had vanished, but rather an indescribable, extremely heavy "pressure" had descended without warning! The air seemed to turn into thick glue, and every breath carried a heavy, metallic weight like rust!

In the sky, the light of the blood moon seemed to shrink back in fear.

In front of the Fortress, the battlefield that had been filled with deafening noise and the wailing of ghosts and howling of gods fell into an eerie silence at this moment! Whether it was the remaining nether ghosts, the fleeing enemy troops, or even those mindless low-level Bizarre Monsters, all felt as if an invisible giant hand had seized their throats, instinctively feeling a tremor and fear from the depths of their souls!

A blurred but incredibly towering figure, seemingly carrying a sea of blood and mountains of corpses, slowly condensed and appeared where the dark iron talisman had vanished!

He was not fully solidified, appearing more like a projection across time and space. Clad in ancient, battered black profound armor that emitted a sky-piercing baleful aura, his face beneath the helmet was blurred. Only his eyes, like two pools of eternal ice, held no emotion—only the ultimate indifference toward life and control over slaughter!

In his hand, he held a bronze halberd that was slightly taller than himself, ancient and unadorned in style, yet appearing as if it had drunk the blood of millions!

[Ghost General: Lord Wu'an, Bai Qi]!

He didn't even look at the chaotic battlefield below, nor at the retreating enemy forces in the distance.

His bone-chilling gaze, the moment he descended, was like two invisible sharp swords piercing through the void, with absolute precision...

...locking onto the Eight-Armed Corpse Demon Wang Kun, who had just rushed to the foot of the wall and was preparing to launch his final strike!

Merely being locked onto by this gaze caused Wang Kun's madly charging momentum to suddenly stall! The destructive energy condensed in his eight arms fluctuated and dissipated violently as if meeting its nemesis! An absolute suppression, originating from the level of life and the essence of slaughter—something he had never experienced—crashed down upon his soul like a ten-thousand-foot-high mountain!

His giant mouth, filled with sharp teeth, could no longer let out a roar, only an unintelligible "hrrr... hrrr..." sound filled with extreme terror.

The phantom image of bai qi did not speak.

He simply, slowly, raised the bronze halberd in his hand, which seemed incredibly heavy.

The movement appeared slow, yet it seemed to pull the murderous aura of the entire world!

[God of Slaughter Domain] — Open!

With the phantom image of bai qi as the center, an invisible, dark red ripple instantly spread out, enveloping the entire front of the battlefield!

Within this domain, all enemy units—including Wang Kun—felt their energy circulation become sluggish and stagnant. The fear in their hearts was infinitely magnified, as if they had fallen into a boundless blood-colored battlefield, becoming lambs waiting to be slaughtered!

Meanwhile, the guards and Yin Soldiers on the Fortress's side felt a grim courage and killing intent surging in their chests!

Absolute suppression!

Under the suppression of that domain, Wang Kun's eight arms trembled violently, and even standing steady became difficult. He looked up at the figure on the wall who remained calm and composed, and at the terrifying existence that had just descended and was watching him like a god of death. The madness built up from jealousy and resentment in his heart was finally replaced by boundless fear and despair!

He realized he was wrong, utterly wrong!

What Lin Chen possessed was a power he simply could not understand or reach!

Lin Chen looked down at Wang Kun, who was struggling in the God of Slaughter Domain like a fly trapped in amber, and indifferently spat out two words:

"Clean it up."
