28: Chapter 28 One-hit kill

The phantom image of bai qi moved the instant Lin Chen's words "Clear them out" fell.

No roaring, no charging up, not even a single redundant movement.

He simply thrust forward, seemingly at random, the Bronze Halberd in his hand—which felt heavy enough to crush the void—toward the Eight-Armed Corpse Demon Wang Kun below, who was being suppressed firmly by the God of Slaughter Domain as if stuck in a quagmire.

It wasn't a cleave, a hack, or a smash.

It was just a simple, straightforward thrust.

The movement was archaic, its trajectory clear, even appearing somewhat slow.

Yet, within this seemingly slow movement, the tip of the Bronze Halberd appeared to ignore the distance of space, the eight arms Wang Kun waved frantically in an attempt to block, and the layer of hard, bluish-black skin and bone armor on his body!

At this moment, time seemed to be stretched and frozen.

Wang Kun's eight eyes, burning with eerie green flames, stared fixedly at that point of the Bronze Halberd's tip—cold to the extreme—as it continuously enlarged in his pupils! He wanted to dodge, but his body was firmly locked by the God of Slaughter Domain and an invisible aura, making him unable to move! He wanted to block, but those eight arms, capable of tearing steel apart, were as fragile as a candle in the wind before the incoming halberd tip, unable to slow its speed by even a fraction!

All he could feel was the pure, ultimate will of destruction contained within that halberd tip! It wasn't a violent surge of energy or the malice of a Bizarre Monster, but the most direct interpretation of the concept of "death," condensed from countless mountains of corpses and seas of blood after slaughtering millions of lives!

"Im... pos... sible..."

Wang Kun's thoughts almost ground to a halt, with only this final bit of resentment and despair screaming in the depths of his soul.

The next second.

"Puchi—!"

A sound so slight it was almost negligible, like a hot knife cutting through butter.

The tip of the Bronze Halberd struck with unerring precision at the very core of energy in the center of Wang Kun's massive body.

There was no earth-shattering explosion, no scene of flesh and blood flying everywhere.

The small area struck by the halberd tip—whether it was skin, muscle, bone, or the surging energy of the Bizarre Monster within—lost all color and vitality in an instant, turning into the purest, deathly grayish-white!

Then, this grayish-white, like ink dropped into clear water or shattered colored glass, spread silently yet unstoppably from the point of impact... in an instant!

Hualala—

Like a sandcastle collapsing.

After the grayish-white spread, Wang Kun's five-meter-tall, hideous, and terrifying Eight-Armed Corpse Demon body directly turned into fine grayish-white dust dancing in the air! His hideous arms, his giant mouth filled with sharp teeth, the horns on his head, the eerie green flames burning in his eyes... everything was completely annihilated at this moment, ceasing to exist!

Not a single piece of wreckage or a drop of pus was left behind!

It was as if he had never existed in this world.

Only the Bronze Halberd remained in its forward-thrusting posture; where the tip pointed was empty, with only the drifting grayish-white dust proving that a powerful and crazed existence had been there just a moment ago.

One halberd strike!

Just one halberd strike!

The Eight-Armed Corpse Demon Wang Kun, who had been aggressive and arrogant just moments ago, charging through the Fortress's concentrated fire to the very end as if he could destroy everything...

Instant kill!

A complete instant kill that obliterated both body and soul!

silence!

A deathly silence enveloped the entire battlefield and the walls of the Fortress!

The wind seemed to have stopped blowing, and time appeared to have frozen.

Everyone's eyes were wide, their mouths agape, frozen in place as if a binding spell had been cast on them.

Whether it was the remaining Thousand-Faced Cultists, the scattering Bizarre Monsters, or even those mindless Netherworld Ghosts, they all instinctively stopped moving and gazed tremblingly at the phantom image of bai qi, who looked like a God of Death descended upon the world.

The Ghost-Headed Earth-Splitting Axe in Zhang Hao's hand fell to the ground with a "clatter," but he was completely unaware, just staring blankly at the drifting dust, his mind a total blank. He had been thinking of going down to fight for his life, but now he realized he didn't even have the qualification to do so...

Su Qingyu clutched her chest, finding it somewhat difficult to breathe. She knew Lin Chen was strong and that he had trump cards, but being strong to this degree, crushing his opponent to such an extent, was still far beyond her imagination! What kind of power was that? What kind of terrifying existence was he?!

Was this the Ghost General Lin Chen had summoned?

Was this the absolute power he had been controlling all along?

On the city wall, Lin Chen looked at the drifting dust below and the phantom image of bai qi, who still held the halberd-thrusting posture and radiated an ancient aura of slaughter, and nodded with satisfaction.

"The efficiency is good, but the commotion was a bit small—not flashy enough."

He commented while stroking his chin, as if the one just instantly killed wasn't a powerful arch-enemy, but a noisy fly.

The phantom image of bai qi slowly withdrew the Bronze Halberd and stood silently; he had no reaction to Lin Chen's evaluation. He was merely a slaughter-executor who had been summoned.

Lin Chen's gaze moved past the dust toward the distance, at the remaining enemy forces that had completely collapsed under the pressure of the God of Slaughter Domain and Bai Qi's intimidation, beginning to flee in all directions like headless flies.

A cold arc curled at the corner of his mouth.

"Next, it's time to clean up the battlefield."
