65: Chapter 64 The Faceless Wedding Dress Shop

With the primary materials in hand, Lin Chen had no intention of returning immediately. His gaze fell upon the optional task on the dock's stone monument: [Clear the unrest of the "Faceless Wedding Dress Shop"]. The reward was three question marks, which piqued a bit of his interest.

"Let's go take a look at that wedding dress shop," Lin Chen said, paying another "short-distance ferry fee" to the soul ferry boat. His destination was the "Lost Alleyway" marked on the stone monument.

Gray mist enveloped the soul ferry boat once again. This time, it descended along a branch of the Nether River, as if sinking into an even darker tributary. When the mist cleared, the scene before them changed once more.

They seemed to have arrived at a "district" deeper within the Netherworld Ferry Crossing. There was no sunlight here, only a ghastly green glimmer from an unknown source that barely illuminated the surroundings. On both sides were crooked, bizarrely styled buildings; some looked as if they were built from countless agonized faces, while others seemed woven from twisted internal organs and blood vessels. The air was thick with a strange scent—sickly sweet yet tinged with decay.

Amidst this array of grotesque buildings, one shop appeared exceptionally "normal," making it stand out even more.

It was an old-fashioned wedding dress shop. The display windows were polished to a shine, and inside stood several mannequins wearing pure white wedding dresses. The designs were exquisite, complete with lace, pearls, and veils. Under the ghastly green light, they emitted an ethereal, alluring, yet eerie luster.

The shop's sign was written in elegant script—Faceless Wedding Dress Shop.

The name said it all.

But what truly sent a chill down one's spine was that the mannequins in the windows... their faces were empty. They had no features, as smooth as boiled eggs, yet their poses were incredibly lifelike, filled with longing and happiness for marriage. This extreme contrast was hair-raising.

"Wel... come... to... our... shop..."

A stuttering voice, like a jammed tape recorder, came from inside the shop. Along with the voice, a "person" wearing a sophisticated clerk uniform but also lacking a face appeared at the door, making a "please come in" gesture toward Lin Chen and the others.

Zhang Hao's legs were trembling as he gripped the railing of the soul ferry boat tightly. "Mas... Master, this place is too sinister! We have all the materials, should we... retreat?"

Su Qingyu also felt a wave of intense discomfort. The Faceless Clerk and mannequins challenged the limits of her perception.

Lin Chen, however, sized up the shop with a sharp gaze. "Since we're already here, wouldn't it be a waste of the ferry fee if we didn't go in?" He took the lead, stepping onto the red-carpeted stairs in front of the shop.

The interior of the shop was more spacious and even more bizarre than it appeared from the outside. Rows of pure white wedding dresses hung on racks like offerings waiting to be chosen. The sickly sweet smell of decay in the air grew stronger. Besides the one at the door, several other Faceless Clerks were silently busy inside, wiping away non-existent dust and tidying the dresses.

The Faceless Clerk who greeted them turned its hollow "face" toward Lin Chen, and that glitchy voice rang out again:

"Ple... ase... choo... se... your... wed... ding... dress..."

"Tho... se... who... choo... se... wrong... must... stay... for... e... ver..."

The rules were here!

Su Qingyu and Zhang Hao's hearts instantly leaped into their throats. This was clearly a rule-based Ghost Domain! Choosing the wrong dress would have unthinkable consequences!

Zhang Hao's hands were restless. Subconsciously, he reached out to touch a nearby dress that was exceptionally magnificent and covered in rhinestones, wanting to see if there was anything special about it.

Just as his fingertips were about to touch the dress—

*Click.*

The smooth, faceless head of the mannequin closest to him suddenly snapped one hundred and eighty degrees to face him! Although it had no eyes, Zhang Hao clearly felt a cold "gaze" lock onto him!

"Ah!" Zhang Hao shrieked in terror, jerkily pulling his hand back and scrambling to hide behind Lin Chen.

The mannequin's head slowly turned back to its original position.

"Do... not... touch... the... mer... chan... dise... care... less... ly..." The Faceless Clerk's voice carried a hint of warning.

The atmosphere instantly became heavy to the extreme.

Just then, a figure stepped out from behind the curtains deep within the shop.

She also wore an extremely magnificent, pure white wedding dress with a train several meters long, adorned with pearls like teardrops. However, her face was also completely blank.

She was the owner of this shop, or rather, the most powerful existence here—the Faceless Bride.

She slowly walked toward Lin Chen. Although she had no eyes, everyone could feel her "gaze" fixed on him.

Then, under everyone's horrified gaze, her smooth face began to ripple and twist like water... features began to be outlined and take shape... A few seconds later, it actually turned into Su Qingyu's face! It was identical, even mimicking the hint of tension and determination in her eyes perfectly!

The Faceless Bride, wearing Su Qingyu's face, reached out a white-gloved hand toward Lin Chen. Using a voice identical to Su Qingyu's but with an ethereal, eerie quality, she said:

"Choose me."

"I am the bride most suited for you."

"We will... be together forever."

This bizarre scene made the real Su Qingyu's hair stand on end, a chill rushing from the soles of her feet straight to the top of her head! Zhang Hao was so scared he nearly wet his pants.

Substituting the peach for the plum! This Faceless Bride could actually perfectly replicate another's face, even mimicking their aura and voice! She wanted to replace Su Qingyu!

Lin Chen looked at the Bizarre Monster before him wearing Su Qingyu's face, his gaze suddenly turning cold.

He didn't care what abilities the Faceless Bride had, nor did he care about the rules here.

But someone—or rather, some ghost—was trying to disgust him in this way, and even coveted the person by his side?

This crossed his line.

"Heh."

Lin Chen laughed, a smile devoid of warmth, containing only cold loathing and killing intent.

He didn't touch the Faceless Bride's outstretched hand, nor did he even spare another look at that face identical to Su Qingyu's.

He directly raised his right hand, fingers spread, aimed at the exquisitely decorated shop filled with countless magnificent wedding dresses.

In the next instant, a massive amount of nether talismans surged from his palm like a golden torrent! He wasn't attacking a specific target; instead, he splashed them out like water, unreservedly and crudely smashing them into every corner of the shop!

One million nether talismans!

【Detonate: Nether Talisman Torrent】!

"Since when does a faceless monster like you get to set the rules in my territory?"

Lin Chen's cold voice, accompanied by the deafening roar of burning nether talismans, echoed through the entire shop:

"Do you think I'm giving you face?"
