337: Chapter 337 Saving Long Aotian! Three-Second Counterattack Against the Controller of Causality
As the teleportation light dissipated, Lin Chen stood in a shattered starry sky.
This was the Karma Arena.
All around was an endless void, with occasional floating meteorite fragments. In the distance, a dying star struggled in its final light, emitting a dark red glow.
Further away, two figures were engaged in a fierce battle.
No, it wasn't a battle. It was a one-sided slaughter.
Arrogant Dragon knelt on one knee on a broken floating stone, covered in blood, with only half of his immortal emperor long sword remaining. There were at least three hundred wounds on his body; the deepest one extended from his left shoulder to his right waist, revealing the grim white bone within.
But he did not fall.
He still gripped the half of the broken sword tightly, staring fixedly ahead.
Opposite him, a man entwined with causality lines floated in mid-air. He wore silver-white robes, his face handsome, and his gaze as indifferent as if he were looking at an ant. His fingers gently plucked those causality lines; with every pluck, another wound appeared on Arrogant Dragon's body.
"Arrogant Dragon," the man spoke, his voice as calm as water, "Don't you understand yet? Your fate is already sealed. No matter how you struggle, you will ultimately die under my causality law. This is the conclusion of three thousand deductions, without exception."
Arrogant Dragon spat out a mouthful of bloody foam.
"Bullshit."
He struggled to stand up, raising his broken sword.
The Causality Law Controller sighed.
"Since you refuse to see reason, I shall grant your wish."
He raised his hand, a causality line winding around his fingertip, aimed at Arrogant Dragon's brow.
Just then, Lin Chen's voice came from the side:
"Arrogant Dragon, catch!"
He threw out that metal piece covered in runes.
Arrogant Dragon snapped his head around, and seeing that familiar golden light, his eyes instantly lit up.
He reached out and caught the metal piece.
The Causality Law Controller's expression changed when he saw the object.
"A karma interferer?! How could you have—"
Before he could finish his sentence.
Arrogant Dragon crushed the metal piece.
Buzz—
An invisible ripple instantly spread out.
The causality lines on the Causality Law Controller's body all disappeared!
He looked at his hands in terror, showing a panicked expression for the first time.
"This... how is this possible?!"
Arrogant Dragon smiled.
He picked up the half of the broken sword and walked step by step toward the Causality Law Controller.
"You said just now, three thousand deductions without exception?"
He raised his sword.
"Then this strike is the exception."
The sword fell.
The Causality Law Controller didn't even have time to scream before his body was split in two, dissipating into countless points of light.
A system notification sounded:
[Player 'Arrogant Dragon' has defeated 'Causality Law Controller', obtaining all of the opponent's chips. Rank has risen to 3rd place.]
Arrogant Dragon stood in place, panting heavily.
Then he turned and looked at Lin Chen.
"Boss, why are you here?"
Lin Chen walked over and sized him up.
"I'm here to collect a debt."
Arrogant Dragon was stunned.
"Collect a debt?"
Lin Chen nodded.
"You owe me 1.6 quadrillion. If you die, who am I supposed to ask for it?"
Arrogant Dragon was silent for a second.
Then he laughed.
In that smile, there was blood, sweat, the relief of surviving a disaster, and a little bit of... embarrassment.
"Boss, thanks."
Lin Chen waved his hand.
"Cut the crap. Can you still walk?"
Arrogant Dragon tried and almost fell.
Lin Chen supported him.
"Alright, heal up first."
He opened the system and called up the medical function.
Arrogant Dragon's injuries began to heal at a rate visible to the naked eye.
Three minutes later, he could barely stand upright.
"Boss, who are we saving next?"
Lin Chen looked at him.
"Morgana."
Arrogant Dragon nodded.
"Let's go."
Just as he was about to step forward, Lin Chen held him back.
"What's the rush? First, tell me, how did you get mixed up with the Causality Law Controller?"
Arrogant Dragon scratched his head.
"I don't know either. I was originally ranked 7th in the arena, and as I was fighting, I ran into him. He kept saying something about 'causality being destined' and insisted on killing me."
Lin Chen was silent for a second.
Then he smiled.
"It seems someone doesn't want us to win."
Arrogant Dragon was stunned.
"Who?"
Lin Chen pointed to the sky.
The "True Game Committee."
Arrogant Dragon's expression changed.
"They..."
Lin Chen nodded.
"They captured you all just to force me into the game. Now that I'm in, they'll naturally create all sorts of difficulties to make me die here."
Arrogant Dragon gripped his broken sword.
"Then what do we do?"
Lin Chen looked at him.
"What do we do? We win and show them."
He turned and walked toward the teleportation array.
"Let's go. To save Morgana."
Arrogant Dragon followed.
After a few steps, he suddenly asked:
"Boss, that karma interferer, how much did it cost?"
Lin Chen didn't look back.
"500,000."
Arrogant Dragon was stunned.
"500,000 Game Coins? Where did you get that much money?"
Lin Chen didn't answer.
He just kept walking.
Arrogant Dragon looked at his back and was silent for a long time.
Then he said softly:
"Boss, I'll remember this 500,000."
Lin Chen looked back.
"Remember what? Do you owe me so little already?"
Arrogant Dragon smiled.
"Then I'll just keep owing you."
The teleportation light lit up.
The two disappeared from the Karma Arena.
In the distance, that dying star finally burned out its last light, turning into nothingness.
