140: Chapter 140 Successful Capture
Lu Zheng's efficiency had always been startlingly fast.
The moment he received Jiang Chen's instructions, he didn't delay for a second. He immediately assembled Zhang Heng, Liu Wei, Sun Yi, and He Hai. The entire team changed into simple black civilian clothes, keeping their profiles low to hide their tracks.
Lu Zheng sat directly in the driver's seat, started the lexus lm, and drove straight toward the Suburban Logistics Park in Chengxi District.
The vehicle sped silently through the cool early morning streets. The speed was steady yet extremely fast; in less than half an hour, they were accurately approaching the target location.
The atmosphere in the car was relaxed, with only the faint roar of the engine.
Liu Wei, who had the most straightforward personality, leaned back against his seat, rested his elbow on the window sill, and casually lowered his voice to strike up a conversation: "Brother Zheng, it's so early in the morning. Instead of staying to guard President Jiang, we're heading out to this remote logistics park. This must be a tough job?"
Zhang Heng clenched his fists, his knuckles making a slight cracking sound. He said in a gruff, muffled voice, "Doesn't matter what the job is, following Brother Zheng is always the right call! When has our crew ever dropped the ball?"
Sun Yi's fingertips lightly brushed across his phone screen, synchronizing real-time route information. He pushed up the black-rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose and spoke calmly.
"Brother Zheng locked onto precise coordinates before we even left. This definitely isn't a routine patrol; it's a special operation for sure."
He Hai leaned against the car window, his posture as steady as Mount Tai. His gaze swept over the passing street scenes as he simply uttered, "Just follow Brother Zheng's arrangements."
Lu Zheng kept his eyes on the road ahead, his hands steady on the steering wheel, his fingertips occasionally tapping the rim. His voice was low and clear, his tone as casual as a daily chat, yet it carried an unquestionable certainty.
"We're catching a fugitive, a national Class-A wanted criminal named Alan Thorne. He was involved in illegal finance overseas and has been on the run for quite a while."
After a pause, he added, "The location President Jiang gave is extremely accurate. He's at the Abandoned Cold-Chain Warehouse No. 17 in Area B of the logistics park ahead. The guy has a sprained left leg, no weapons, and no backup. He's a turtle in a jar."
"Whoa, a Class-A wanted criminal?"
Liu Wei instantly sat up straight, raised an eyebrow, and grinned with excitement in his eyes.
"That's great! We're essentially getting rid of a public menace. Since he's injured and can't resist, it'll be even easier to handle. We'll make sure it's done cleanly and won't cause any trouble for President Jiang."
Zhang Heng also nodded heavily and responded gruffly, "I'll guard the perimeter. No one gets near that warehouse, and that guy isn't getting away!"
Sun Yi pushed up his glasses and took the initiative to accept a task: "I'll handle the evidence verification. Confidential data, transfer files—I'll make sure not a single thing is missed or incorrect."
He Hai also chimed in with a deep voice, "I'll assist in controlling the person and ensure I'm in position as ordered."
"Alright, we'll go with our old chemistry," Lu Zheng nodded slightly, his tone casual but firm.
"When we get there, Liu Wei and I will lead the frontal assault to directly control the target. Zhang Heng, guard the side door and block the side exit. He Hai, stay at the rear to seal off all escape routes. Sun Yi, follow closely behind and be responsible for verifying the evidence."
"Keep it low-profile the whole time. Don't alert any bystanders in the park. Quick and decisive. Once we have the person and the evidence, we head back to the hotel immediately to regroup with President Jiang."
"No problem!"
The four men responded in unison, their voices crisp and decisive without the slightest hesitation.
With years of camaraderie and tacit understanding, there was no need for excessive instructions; they each understood their tasks perfectly.
Before long, the vehicle arrived precisely at the abandoned cold-chain logistics warehouse No. 17 indicated in the intelligence.
The Suburban Logistics Park had long been deserted, surrounded by overgrown weeds, with mottled warehouse walls and rusted iron gates.
Silence reigned all around, and there were very few passersby, making it an excellent location for a covert capture.
Lu Zheng pulled the handbrake and cut the engine in one smooth motion. He then raised his hand to give a tactical gesture, and the five men instantly dispersed into their positions, coordinating seamlessly.
Zhang Heng quickly moved to the side of the warehouse, guarding the only side door. He Hai stood steadily at the rear, blocking all possible escape routes. Sun Yi stayed low, waiting by one side of the main warehouse door, ready to verify evidence at any time.
Lu Zheng led Liu Wei as they silently approached the main warehouse door. Every step was as light as a feline's, without making a sound, demonstrating professional special ops skills.
Lu Zheng quickly confirmed the target through a gap in the damaged warehouse door.
Alan Thorne was curled up in a cold storage compartment on the west side, his left leg tucked unnaturally, his face full of exhaustion and anxiety.
A black backpack lay beside him. There were indeed no backup personnel around, nor were there any offensive weapons, matching Jiang Chen's description perfectly.
After confirming the target's status, Lu Zheng's gaze darkened, and he immediately gave the signal for the raid.
The next second, all five acted simultaneously!
Lu Zheng and Liu Wei kicked open the old iron door. With a loud "clack," the iron door hit the ground. The movement was crisp and decisive, without any hesitation.
Before Alan Thorne could react to his anxiety, he was pinned to the ground by the explosive power of Liu Wei.
His left leg was already sprained, leaving him unable to struggle. Combined with the thunderous aura of the five men, he was instantly scared pale, his body trembling uncontrollably, and even his cry for help was stuck in his throat.
His hands were instantly secured with professional flexible restraints. The entire process took less than ten seconds, and he was completely under control.
"Stay still, don't move!" Liu Wei barked in a low, cold, and powerful voice, his palm pressing firmly against the other man's back, not letting him budge an inch.
Alan Thorne lay on the ground, shivering, not daring to resist at all, allowing himself to be controlled by the group.
Lu Zheng stepped forward quickly, immediately grabbed the black backpack next to him, and tossed it to Sun Yi.
Sun Yi immediately came forward, squatting on the ground to meticulously look through the documents in the backpack. He checked the confidential data, cross-border illegal capital flow evidence files, and core money laundering transaction vouchers page by page, his fingertips moving across the paper with steady precision.
A moment later, he looked up to report: "Brother Zheng, the evidence is complete—no damage, no omissions. Everything checks out."
Lu Zheng nodded slightly and signaled the team members to take the suspect away.
The five men covered each other, moving quickly and maintaining a low profile throughout the process. They avoided any potential stray eyes in the park, didn't alert any irrelevant personnel, and perfectly completed the capture mission.
The group escorted the suspect back to the car. Lu Zheng opened the rear door, and Liu Wei and He Hai placed Alan Thorne in the middle of the back seat, guarding him closely. Then, everyone quickly got into the vehicle.
Lu Zheng started the car and, under heavy guard, drove toward the hotel where Jiang Chen was staying, ensuring everything was foolproof along the way.
The lexus lm came to a steady stop downstairs at the hotel.
In the back of the car, Alan Thorne was being held firmly. His face was full of panic and dejection, and the luck he'd felt while on the run was completely gone. He could only curl up in his seat, his eyes filled with terror, not even daring to breathe loudly.
By the time Jiang Chen came downstairs, Lu Zheng and the other four were already lined up waiting by the car.
The five men stood as straight as pines, their expressions solemn, exuding a sharp aura from long-term training. Even just standing silently, they made people hesitate to approach.
Seeing Jiang Chen approach, Lu Zheng immediately took a step forward, bowed slightly, and gave a detailed report in a very low voice, audible only to the two of them.
"President Jiang, the target Alan Thorne has been successfully secured. He has a sprained left leg and no ability to resist. All confidential documents in the backpack have been verified—no omissions, no damage. The operation was low-profile throughout and did not alert any irrelevant personnel."
