204: Chapter 204 Jiang Ge's Magnanimity

At the start of the preparations, Wang Hao had only printed thirty registration forms, thinking that recruiting twenty new members would be a successful goal.

However, the actual popularity far exceeded his imagination; before it even hit two in the afternoon, the prepared registration forms were already completely used up.

Left with no choice, he had to quickly ask a neighboring club for help, using their printer to rush out two more stacks of forms.

By the time the event officially concluded, a thick stack of registration forms was neatly piled on the table, and the number of registered members had long since surpassed his initial expectations.

Even as they were nearing the end and packing up, students who had heard the news continued to rush over to inquire and sign up.

Throughout the entire day, Wang Hao was run off his feet, dealing with various questions back and forth, with almost no time to stop and rest.

Fortunately, Jiang Chen and Lin Wan stayed by the booth from start to finish, doing their best to help share the workload.

Jiang Chen usually had a quiet and reserved personality, rarely initiating small talk with strangers, but he was efficient and organized when it came to practical tasks.

When registering the new students' information, his handwriting was neat and elegant; he knew how to categorize various materials precisely, and every document was placed in perfect order without any clutter.

Lin Wan sat quietly beside him, and the two of them coordinated with remarkable chemistry without needing many words, their division of labor perfectly organized.

One would patiently guide the new students to fill out the forms correctly and carefully check every piece of contact information to avoid errors, while the other would categorize the forms by department and major, neatly clipping and filing them away.

Whenever the registration line grew long and the area became a bit crowded, Lin Wan would calmly stand up and gently guide the new students to scan a QR code to join the club's group chat first, then wait in line to register.

Her tone was gentle and soft, carrying a natural, persuasive charisma that made the queuing students instinctively follow her instructions, keeping the scene orderly at all times.

When a freshman felt lost facing the sections of the form and hesitated to write, Lin Wan would lean in slightly and slow down her speech to patiently explain each requirement.

The junior thanked her sincerely several times, but she simply shook her head slightly with a faint smile, her manner composed and gentle.

During the busy period, Wang Hao was once surrounded by seven or eight freshmen at once, with all sorts of questions coming at him, leaving him unable to handle it all and struggling to respond.

He instinctively turned to look and saw that Jiang Chen and Lin Wan had already quietly helped divert the crowd and share the pressure.

Jiang Chen attended to the boys asking about the club's purpose and activity frequency, answering all their doubts in just a few words.

Lin Wan patiently responded to the girls' concerns about team-building activities and daily workload, and in her spare moments, she even gathered the scattered pens on the table, her movements gentle and steady.

The other members who had joined the preparations were also full of enthusiasm, running around all day without a single complaint.

Some stayed at the intersection to guide the queue, repeating the process of filling out forms and joining the group chat; others shuttled between the lawn and the print shop to replenish materials, buy drinking water, or borrow tape.

Several other students took the initiative to stay behind, helping to maintain order and starting to clear away debris from the site ahead of time.

The group of young people worked from the scorching afternoon sun until the sunset slowly dipped, everyone expending a great deal of energy and physical strength.

A junior wearing glasses collapsed directly onto the grass after packing up the last set of tables and chairs, jokingly complaining that his legs were already numb and sore and no longer listening to him, his humorous words making everyone around him burst into laughter.

Even though they were exhausted after a long day, deep in everyone's eyes was a sense of accomplishment and joy from a productive day.

As the sky slowly darkened, the closing work at the site continued to progress in an orderly fashion.

Everyone worked together to take inventory, returning all the tables and chairs to their original places, and packing away the banners, flyers, and various supplies.

Jiang Chen worked with several boys to disassemble the Roll-up Banners, folding the metal stands and storing them properly; Lin Wan, meanwhile, crouched on the lawn, carefully picking up leftover tape scraps and bits of paper, not missing a single piece of small trash.

The evening breeze brushed her hair, and she raised her hand to tuck a stray lock behind her ear, a small pile of debris already gathered in her palm.

Watching everyone busy themselves together, Wang Hao felt a surge of emotion.

He had been frantically busy all day, yet not one of his companions had complained or slacked off—especially Jiang Chen and Lin Wan, who had only come to show support but had actually worked hard for the entire day, barely having time to even drink water or rest.

He stroded over to Jiang Chen's side, slapped his brother on the shoulder, and grinned. "Not bad, man. You brought your lady along to be free labor for me all day. You're a real one."

Without even looking up, Jiang Chen focused on putting the stand into its cloth bag, but replied indifferently, "Don't flatter yourself. I was just afraid you'd ruin the club on your own and waste all the effort everyone put in earlier."

Wang Hao didn't get annoyed; he chuckled and crouched beside him, handing over a bottle of water. "Sure, sure, whatever you say is right."

"But seriously, I was stunned by the turnout today. If you and Lin Wan hadn't been here to hold things down, I probably would've been overwhelmed by those freshmen's questions."

Jiang Chen took the water and twisted off the cap, glancing at him with a slight curl of his lip. "As long as you know. Next time we recruit, print more forms in advance. Don't wait until the last minute; it's embarrassing."

Lin Wan threw the trash into a bag and looked back to see the two of them bickering. A faint smile touched her eyes as she chimed in softly, "He says that, but he actually cared more than anyone, fearing something might go wrong on your end."

Wang Hao laughed and gave Lin Wan a thumbs-up. "Sister-in-law is right. You're the only one who understands this 'closet-emotional' guy."

Jiang Chen's movements paused, and the tips of his ears turned slightly red. He lifted his foot and feigned a kick at Wang Hao. "Shut up and get back to work."

Amidst their joking and banter, the tension of the day completely melted away.

Wang Hao picked up the thick stack of registration forms, the smile on his face impossible to hide. He mused, "Seriously, when we started this club, it was just for fun. Who would've thought it would blow up like this on the first day? If word gets out, we'll have made a name for ourselves at Jiang University."

The companions around them chimed in one after another, excitedly discussing the day's grand occasion.

Some remarked that the club's popularity was even greater than that of established ones, while others pulled up posts on the campus forum to share netizens' comments. In the lively atmosphere, everyone was full of anticipation for the club's future.

Jiang Chen settled the last box of supplies, brushed the dust off his hands, and looked around at the exhausted group. He spoke up loudly, "Stop lounging around. Pack up; dinner's on me tonight."

Before his voice even faded, everyone's spirits soared, their fatigue seemingly vanishing instantly. Cheers echoed across the empty lawn.

"Brother Jiang is generous!"

"I've been working all day just to hear those words!"

Jiang Chen turned to Wang Hao and pointed at him, his tone half-joking and half-serious.

"Don't be so quick to celebrate. Technically, I'm treating everyone, but in reality, I'm thanking you all on behalf of my foolish brother here. It's not easy for him to start a club, and you've all been working hard alongside him. I'll remember this favor for him."

Wang Hao was stunned for a moment, his eyes growing warm, but he laughed and shot back, "Cut it out. What do you take me for? Do my people need you to thank them on my behalf?"

"Your people?" Jiang Chen raised an eyebrow and said coolly, "Coming from the guy who had to borrow a printer just to print registration forms."

The crowd burst into laughter. Wang Hao was left speechless, finally managing to sputter, "Fine, you're ruthless. Tonight, I'm going to eat until you're bankrupt."

Lin Wan stood to the side, watching their back-and-forth bickering, a faint smile always playing on her lips.

The streetlights flickered on one by one, their warm yellow glow reflecting on everyone's dust-covered clothes. As they looked at each other, their faces were filled with heartfelt, carefree smiles.
